I don't know if this has been posted on here yet or not but a new law in Illinois now allows a motorcycle to LEGALLY run a red light if it hasn't changed after waiting for 2 minutes. The law went into effect Jan. 1st 2012. Just a little FYI for people that don't know.

the roads in illinois can be hard on things, especialy when the pavement buckles and your doing 60mph when you run into it.

I'm planning a trip from San Antonio to Springfield IL at the end of May. I will be in Illinois for about a week and I am concerned because the last time I was there the only gas I remember included ethynol. My question(s) is/are...is there regular gas available in Illinois? If not, does using the ethynol mix negatively affect our engines? Sure appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance. Jim T

Planning on riding the bike to Illinois next week (14 - 22). Hoping the weather will hold...being a Texan, not really use to cold weather (yeah, I know...pantywaste). Going through Oklahoma and Missiouri on the way up...Arkansas on the way back. If you see a blue and black...flash your lights!

ok im sure there not worth much? while still cleaning my aunts apartment. i found 2 sets of the washington state quarters from 1999-2003 real nice shape and the books are full with the P and D? quarters not sure what that means? like Illinois P and Illinois D? ect ect any one have an idea if there worth any thing? thanks oldgoat

I know there were some earlier posts on this subject, but here is my story. I bought a 2007 RSV from Dreyer Honda in Indianapolis. I'm the 2nd owner, it was sold new in Illinois. For those of you who don't know, Dreyer has a Yamaha dealership right next door to the Honda store. I asked the service guys at Dreyer Yamaha to transfer the warranty and they said it was something they would take care of if/when it came in for service, otherwise it was not necessary. The handbook says it should be transferred. I'm thinking "what if I'm in Ohio or Kentucky or some foreign land (Canada?) and need warranty work?". I want to be recognized as the owner and warranty holder. So-o-o I went to Westfield Yamaha, they told me it HAS to be transferred by the original selling dealership. IN ILLINOIS! No ifs, ands, or buts. Just flat refused to have anything to do with it. I emailed the dealer in Illinois, they responded that they would be glad to help, but would have to physically inspect the bike. Well-l-l let me tell ya- I called Yamaha Motors in Katella, CA. The customer service rep. (Leona) there was GREAT! She called Indy Cycle & Ski while keeping me on the line. Before Leona and I finished talking I had a call come in from Indy Cycle & Ski from their business manager James White. I took a ride to their dealership and when I got there I was greeted by James. He provided me with a temporary warranty, told me I would be getting a warranty card from Yamaha, and then took me around and introduced me to the service mgr. and the parts mgr. and showed me around the dealership.Then I spent some time on the showroom floor just browsing. Bear in mind that this was my first ever visit to this dealer. When I need service, tires, parts, whatever, guess where I am going first? All this just to confirm what most of us already know. There are dealers out there that just don't give a damn, but if you are lucky you may find one that gives you old fashioned "we value you as a customer" service. Mel:Venture:

went on a 200+ mile ride yesterday to the Garden of the Gods in illinois and seen 4 second gens 07 black and blue 2 of the midnight blacks and i think it is a 99 two tone green all in Illinois from Anna to Harrisburg. Is it anybody here? i wave at all of them.

The motorcycle safety classes, put on by the MSF and Illinois State University, have started filling slots for this years courses. I'm a little late on this one, as a lot of them have been filled (the beginner ones anyways). I signed up for the experienced one in Springfield on the 24th of March with my dad and 3 others, so it should be a good time. If anyone is interested, you can find more info here.

Today I met with stvmaier, Steve and his wife were real nice people. They are from Illinois passing through Mobile. We met at Ruby Tuesday and sat in airconditioning for a while to cool off and talk. Nice to meet other Venture riders from all over the US. Wish I was going their way on a ride like theirs, all the was to West Virginia then back to Illinois, must be nice!! tew47:bighug:

Hello all: We are looking for ideas. My wife and I have a family function to attend in late May in Bloomington Illinois. If weather looks half decent we hope to take the Venture. We live in Southern Ontario and hope to take the ferry ride across to Sandusky Ohio then work our way west to Bloomington Illinois. Has anyone ridden in this area and if so do you have any recomendations for scenic rides or must see spots. Thanks in advance. Jim and Karen
