You can find a little British humor on the You Tube video of the manufacture of a Triumph Rocket III. I don't know how to post it on here to save you time but if you need a chuckle then check it out. Also shows some pretty good riding.

I just got off the phone with the MotorcycleSuperstore.com wanting to order (for the third year in a row), another set of these: (I have been very happy with them!) Dunlop Elite 3 Front Tire Color - --, Size - 150/80H-16 SKU# 157506 On Order $106.99 1 $106.99 Dunlop Elite 3 Tour Rear Tire Color - --, Size - MV85HB-15 SKU# 119995 Approved $130.99 1 $130.99 But, I was informed that the Touring Elite III Rear Tire has been discontinued, and they said that it wasn't replaced with another model. What's up with that? So, I figured that I would go back to the Avon Venoms (which I also like a lot), but they want $76.00 more for the Avons than I paid for the T.E. IIIs last year. Does anyone have any suggestions on a different model comparable to either the T.E. III, or the Avon Venom, or a different dealer I should check-out? I have tried Metzler's, but don't really want to go back to them. Thanks guys & Be Safe! Pete.

I'll try to make this short, but allot happened in 6 hours at Columbia Power Sports Honda. My Dunlop 404 went bald two weeks ago after a long ride on the BRP. I was behind the eight ball and needed a tire installed yesterday. The Honda shop has free tire installation on Weds in Aug. Settled on the Elite III, they had one in stock. Showed up and waited a while before getting RSV on lift. New tire installed. The shop manager looks at the tire and tells me they accidently installed a 404. WHAT? My 404 didnt last long enough, I wanta Elite III. No problem. Bike goes back on lift. 404 comes off and I notice the guy struggling with the E III. Manager tells me the E III was shipped with packaging holding the side walls pinched together. They normally need to set them in the sun to soften them up before mounting. Another thing, it is a 80, not a 90, which hurts mounting also. They tried every trick in the book. Two hours later and a 2 mad Mechs, they gave up. OK, put a Vemon on. We only have that 404. OH Brother !!! No other options so they put the 404 back on rim. Set me back &132.00 OTD. I will say this. The Honda dealer has a very friendly staff and I even drove a simulator (cool). As last thread stated, talked to a SC HP biker and other salesmen. They only had good things to say about the RSV. So that was my day at the Honda shop. Next time Sleeperhawk and dave will have the honor. The good news, I'm headin for Vogel this morning. YEEEE- HAAAA

After GeorgeS posted the link on the superstore front tire , I ordered one last week and received it yesterday. It was a total of about $102 including shipping. Thanks George. I put it on last night and just using the axle and jackstands, I balanced it myself. I had to take two weights off the wheel that was on the Avon to get it where I wanted it. I usually remove and replace my own tires as I like to clean the wheel and check the valve stem, but this was the most difficult tire I have ever mounted. It seems to have a much more stiff sidewall. After putting over 200 miles on it today, I can say that I do like it. At first I felt I had lost just a little of the agility that the Avon had, but now I feel it is little better balanced over all. I have had an Elite III on the back since last summer and feel the bike was more stable on the back than the Avon. One thing I did notice was the Elite III is at least an inch taller than the Avon and to me that does make a little difference with my short inseam. RandyA

This last weekend Moto 400 (Dawsonville GA) sponsored the Triumph factory Demo Rides. I went there Sunday and rode three of the bikes: the Rocket III Touring, the Scrambler, and the Tiger. I somewhat enjoyed the Scrambler, really enjoyed the Tiger, and was overwhelmingly impressed with the Rocket III! That is one incredibly smooth, incredibly powerful machine; it has great throttle in all gears and, for a heavy bike (almost 800 lbs), was surprisingly easy to handle. 86er also rode this bike, so he will hopefully chime in and offer his opinion! For any of you that live anywhere near this dealer, they are having Star demo rides on all models this weekend. It might be a good time to try the Raider on for size... Terry

Has anyone else read this article? It just doesn't make any sense why they didn't include the Venture as one of the test subjects. They compared the H-D Ultra, Victory Vision, Honda Goldwing and last and certainly least the Triumph Rocket III. The first 3 make sense, all touring bikes. But why the Rocket? It is a cruiser with hard bags. It obviously didn't make the grade as a tour bike, so why forget the Venture. The ranking came down as follows: 1. Wing, 2. Vision, 3. Ultra, 4. Rocket III. Having riden the Vision & the Ultra, I think the Venture would have given the Wing a run for the money. I will be sending Motorcyclist an e-mail voicing my dismay of their mistake at overlooking the Venture. mcmail@sourceinterlink.com

After reading the threads on the Elite III, I am wondering if there is any concerns with mixing an Avon on the front that looks almost new with 10,000 miles on it and an Elite III on the back of my 83? The Avon on the back is beginning to get a little shallow on the center of the tire grooves. I noticed this when I was walking around it when it was laying on it's side. I really do like how the Avons feel, but I am not sure I want another Avon on the back with the 75mph and above rear end wobble. I have not done the homework as far as finding out if one is bias or radial. RandyA
