I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a previous owner of a couple older model BMW K bikes. I used to commute on them (when I had a job). My wife and I rode on weekends and she grew to love it almost more then I. Well we were looking for an affordable bike to take some trips on. And with the help of this awesome site we chose a Venture. Then I found a deal on one in Idaho. It is a 2000 Millennium edition and with Only 8800 miles on it. Well needless to say it is now in my garage in California. My question to the forum is other than a complete fluid’s change and carb sync. Is there anything I should concerned with before we start logging miles on the puppy

After over 4000 miles we have arrived safe and sound and a little poorer in the cash department! All in all it was a great trip with some interesting side lines to keep my on my toes. Blew the rear tire on the first leg down...60 miles out of Bismarck ND. No fall over for me this year but I dang near had a heart attack after seeing the tow bill! Then the dealer was good enough to get me on my way the next day. Good thing I was there as the poor tech was about to disassemble my rear end to get my tire off! For that and new brake shoes and oil change it came to over 400 bucks.....plus over 400 for the snow I mean tow job. Ah well....no-one got hurt right! After Cody we headed for Idaho to see some friends. Then off to Oregon, Washington and back this way through Idaho, Montana and North Dakota. First trip in years that we didnt get any rain! On a more somber note we did get to see the end result of a biker crashing into some sort of wild critter. Sadly we had to drive by his covered body. Our thoughts to his family. It was great to see everyone again and you all take care.

We are leaving Idaho tomorrow morning and heading toward the Saw Tooth Mountain. Hope to get back to Houston, Texas in about 4 or 5 days. We are going to take our time. Had a great vacation here enjoying the cooler weather. Was going to leave today but it is our anniversary, so we decided to have a good steak dinner before we left. Hal n Val

Just spent the last five days and 1300 miles in the Boise Idaho area. Outside of Grandview we went to a place called the E-MUseum were they have a ton of old odds and ends. They had a couple of really unique bikes. One was a precurser to the Tote Goat and the owner had added a "sidecar" with a tractor seat (our friends the Jensens). The other was a trike. The motor is from 1907, the lower framework is an old metal bedframe and the front tire is from a bicycle. Had and great time!!!! http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Boise%20TRA%20Rally%202010/IMG_0894.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Boise%20TRA%20Rally%202010/IMG_0895.jpg

Ok folks here it is. Last fall while at the Cody Round up the notion of a possible "run for the Potato" was brought up and some interest was expressed. Potato equates with Idaho... Dates were tossed around, Memorial day week end was suggested, the only problem with that date is that Idaho weather is quite unpredictable during that weekend, (usually accompanied with rain) We have room for camping, we can rent porta-potties, we are twenty miles south of Salmon Idaho right on the river, very nice atmosphere, some excellent scenic rides. Seems there was a post recently regarding name the five best states to ride... come to Idaho and find out for yourself you might add Idaho to your favorites. We brew our own Cerveca and would be excited to make a special brew just for this event. We grow our own tobacco for you cigar lovers and are always excited to share. Our local Yamaha dealer has expressed an interest in sponsoring some of the ride...BBQ, etc.. One of the events we enjoyed most at the Cody run was the last night dinner where we all pretty much contributed to a communal meal. We found the relaxed atmosphere and jovial inclusion enhanced the whole experience. With that said, we would like to create a similar atmosphere. This can range from Fish taco feed to a large scale BBQ; there are numerous possibilities depending on expressed interest. (For you that have not experienced fish tacos..you have been missing out) Feed Back PLEASE! Teri n Erv

Dirt roads? We ain't afraid of no dirt roads! Stu and Marvin...any of this look familiar??? We did run into a fellow from California who said he figures in Montana and Idaho the term road construction really means "sent out for repairs." Teri (Roja of Pakidaho)
