Ok- I have been a dabbler with Linux for many years. With the advent of Windows 8 I am much closer to dumping Microsoft in favor of a Linux box for our HTPC. However, I have not been able to find a Blu-Ray software program that will run under Linux in a SIMPLE way. I am talking load disc, click on an icon and enjoy movie. Anyone know of such a critter? It can be free or paid. JB

OK When I logged in on my computer to the venturerider site using Firefox everything seems as it should be except that all I can do is read the posts/threads. It will not let me reply or start a new thread. What it is like is when you are not logged in and not a memberthe site appears that way. No reply Icon or New thread Icon. But now here is the what is really weird. I used my daughters laptop and signed in through Firefox and everything workes great. I also used my laptop and went through Internet Exployer and it works fine, Si I figured something was wrong so I did a restore to 2 days ago when I know all was correct. Yep you guessed it Still will not let me do anything but read when I log in through FireFox. I am stumped. Any help out there. Thanks Rick

Is there a setting somewhere so I do not have to click on the MORE icon at the bottom of the HOME page to continue to older posts. Clicking on MORE icon gives me 5 more posts then it enables previous page selections. The home page is also formatted different than subsequent pages in center section as far as posted by column. Is there a setting to change number of threads shown on 1 page ? Gary

Yesterday I received a telephone call from a member who felt that we should come up with a way to honor our military veterans. I knew that he was right and tried to come up with something yesterday but just couldn't get it done. I have now added a new award category that will add a icon to your posts that signify that you served and in which branch of the military. At this time, I have only found icons for the US branches of Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. If some of our Canadian members can help me with icons of their military seals, I will get them added as well. The same goes for our members in other countries. In lieu of that, I could try to come up with some type of generic icon. Now, if you wish to have this icon added to your posts, you only need to click on the VRAwards link in the upper menu bar and request the reward. Don't be shy about it because if you don't tell me, I won't know. I know this is not a huge deal but hopefully it will in some small way show our appreciation for all of you who presently serve or have served in the past.

I have one little problem remaining with my 1st Gen. The CB was working when I took her down for the makeover, now it is not working,at least some of it isnt. It powers on, transmitt icon comes on when I push to talk, and when I adjust the squelch that icon shows loc/dis..........but I am not getting any sound out of the speakers. I have checked all the connections on the cb and all the connections where they plug into the amplifer. I am stumped, its not a big deal, but I would like it to work like it did before........anyone else ever have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I use my iPhone to check new posts on VentureRider.org frequently. When you put a link to the new posts page (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/search.php?do=getnew) on an iPhone home screen the icon you get is a crappy partial screenshot of the site. To remedy this, I've created a custom iPhone icon for the home screen. Once you've visited th VR site and saved your logon info, clicking on the icon takes you directly to the new posts since your last visit. The icon is pictured below. If you want to download this to use on your iPhone, go to WebClipIcons then enter your iPhone email address and the link will be emailed to you. A quick click and it's on your home screen. I hope some here find this useful.

Does anyone here use the ICON MIL SPEC Mesh Vest? I just received my order and there seems to be a problem with the sizing. As I intend to wear it over my Ballistics jacket, I ordered the 4X size. Now, I realize that, like everything else today, it is manufactured in China. But this was ridiculous. I couldn't even zip the thing up wearing just a tee shirt. If this is a 4X, it must be a made for a 4X Barbie doll. Has anyone else had a problem with the 4X size? OR does the world just like to pick on me???

Ok. I am having the problem with the headlight icon staying on my display, and getting the flashing red warning on my '83 Venture. I started out with the headlight, and the battery flashing, because I just put a new battery on, and the terrible whine in my speedometer. I did the 1k ohm resistor fix, and took care of the battery icon...great fix, thanks. I also removed the instrument panel and greased the speedo bushing with white lithium grease...works great...thanks. I then resoldered all of the connections for the big white connector, plus a few more cold joints that I found. After all of that, the only problem I still have, is the headlight icon, and flashing red light. All of my lights work fine. Any more Ideas, before I get out the schematic, and pick the bike apart wire by wire?

I have had my 86 Venture Royale checked over by the dealer and no safety problems have been found but the icon on my display indicating low brake fluid is either on solid or flashing most of the time. Is it really caused by low brake fluid? If so, how much fluid should I have in the reservoir? Perhaps there is a level sensor problem. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? If so how did you resolve the problem. The light is quite annoying at night.
