Well after 2 years on the Venture I have decided to get a 2010 Nav. I go to Arkansas Friday the 4th. to pick it up. I bought it from Sunrise Honda in Searcy Ar. A 505 mile trip from here in the Houston area. We have been going to the hill country here in Texas each fall and I can hardly wait till this August. Anyway, my question is: what can I expect on the break in i.e. speed restriction. The one I test drove here really handled well. The only concern was the size of the shifter. But I guess I will get used to that.

The passing lamps on my '06 Midnight Venture went out. The fuse is a 10amp/32v glass fuse. Can I use any 10amp glass fuse, i.e. 10a/125v, or does it HAVE to be a 10a/32v?? Thanks,

How many use torque wrenches for routine maintenance and who tightens until it is "about right"? I realize that proper torque is absolutely critical for some applications. Do you use more than one wrench (i.e. low range 1/4 or 3/8 plus high range- usually 1/2")? What type of torque wrench do you use (i.e. "clicker")? I have heard it mentioned that the torque specification (by Yamaha) for the axles are too high. For instance on the Roadstar, I believe that 110 ft.lb is recommended for the rear wheel while the general concensus is that 80 or so is sufficient. Any opinions for the RSV? In the past, I have generally borrowed a torque wrench to use only for things I consider to be critical but I am thinking about buying a couple of new ones to cover the necessary ranges. (I have used the "about right" method for most stuff) Thought I would solicit some opinions. I am not into major stuff - I would leave an engine teardown to someone who knows more than I do - but I prefer to do everything I can. Thanks Ross

Took my RSV to a local 5 star rated dealership to have passing lamps and a wider windshield installed. Although all the parts were there when I dropped the bike off, it still took a week to get it done. Then, when I go to pick up the bike, there is severe damage to to the fairing (i.e. a scrape 3 inches wide and 18 inches long), left lower (i.e. outer edge scraped), highway peg bent to a 45 degree angle revealing that they had obviously dropped the bike. The illegal alien employee who pushed my bike out on to the parking lot swore in broken English that he knew nothing about the damage. Needless to say, I went balistic. The service manager said he would have to investigate to make sure I had not brought the bike in already damaged. WTF? When he saw that I was about to get midevil on him he changed his toon and said they'd make it right. Doesn't anyone take responsibility for their actions anymore? I am so fed up with the level of incompetence of these metric bike dealerships (Yamaha & Honda both), I feel like saying screw it and just going back to Harley Davidsons. At least they know how to treat a customer after the sale. Their customer service is first rate. Sorry for the rant but I'm just sick of this crap.
