The I-basket is the greatest thing since sliced bread, the wife and I went for a 2hr ride today and it was so nice nice to actually here the engine. should have done it long ago

I noticed that a company named Hinson makes clutch baskets for numerous motorcycles, including some Yamahas. I wonder if there would be enough business for them to engineer one for the 2nd gens, that might be a better solution to the engine whine than the iffy I-basket from Yamaha? I haven't contacted the compnay, and a quick internet search doesn't find the manufacturer, only resellers....

Over the winter I had reported that what I thought was a dealer installed I-basket (last July) actually was a G-basket. I complained to the dealer and eventually got an I-basket which eliminated almost all of the whine. A few of you commented that you were thinking about pulling your clutch basket to verify whether or not you do or don't have an I-basket (when you felt that you do). Just wondering if anyone has followed through and what was discovered?

Just a off-beat curiosity ... Wondering if anyone who has had the I-basket swap done has discovered that they didn't actually get an I-basket, but something else (like an 'H' or?) even tho the dealer was supposed to put in an I-basket. I started thinking about this because of the variations of "the I-basket worked" versus "the I-basket didn't work" and anything in-between. I will be pulling my basket (and probably my hair) out this winter just to confirm this. oh yea ... can't do the hair...it's already all gone

Got the scoot back around noon today after having the clutch I-basket installed. Put on a few km's (maybe 150) and there's not a whole lot of difference. Whine still comes in around the same rpm as before; however, it is a wee bit quieter ... a bit more tolerable. Maybe after a few more miles and a fresh oil change ..... whatevah ... I'll accept it as-is and just ride! Also got the carbs sync'd ... they were off quite a bit ... she purrs very nice now ... even the RK's sound better!
