today i was out doing laundry. when i saw a lady in the parking lot looking at the back right side of her car? i went out and she had a flat tire. she said she had no spare no jack nothing to change this or fix this tire. i went to work and got out my floor jack and huge 4 way tire wrench. with my knee i had a little trouble but got the tire off. told her to watch my laundry and i will be right back. i went down to kings tires just down the road to see if it could be patched? well the tire had a huge screw in it that came out the side wall. and the tire was pretty well shot. so i said hey do you have a used tire you could sell as they do have them. then i explained why i could not afford a new tire. the owner put on a brand new tire and just charged me for mounting. then said merry christmas. it,s people like you who do good things for others and i want to help pass it on. so i give a big A++++++++++++ to kings tire of lasalle IL the woman is now back on the road and the smile and thanks from her just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

A hunter and his friend were sitting in a tall tower stand near Highway 7 early one cold December morning. Suddenly, a huge buck walked out over the corn they had spread in the low shrubs. The buck was magnificent, a once in a lifetime animal. His rack was huge. The hunter's hand shook as his mind was already counting the Boone and Crockett points. Moving quickly, the hunter carefully aimed the Leopold scope on his ..300 Win Mag at the unsuspecting buck. As he was about to squeeze the trigger on this deer of a lifetime, his friend alerted him to a funeral procession passing slowly down Highway 7. The hunter pulled away from the gunstock, set the rifle down, took off his hat, bowed his head and then closed his eyes in prayer. His friend was stunned, "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen you do. You actually let that trophy deer go to pay respects to a passing funeral procession. You are indeed the kindest man I have ever known, and I feel lucky to call you a friend." The hunter shrugged. "Yeah, well, we were married for 37 years."

Noticed that I had lost 1 of the bolts for the trunk that bolts to the fender. Went to the parts desk and was handed a free one. I know it's not an expensive item but this day and age of uncertainty in the business world I thought that was huge. Never bought a bike at McGraths but certainly will the next time! Check them out as they have a bunch of new and used bikes.

I posted a request for an old cassette player that was not being used. SMSgt stepped up said he had one, shipped it to me and did not even want his shipping expenses reimbersed. HUGE thank you for the very kind gesture. What a great group of people here.

Got this info off another site. I have verified the information and it is correct. Just FYI - There will be a huge BICYCLE ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday, August 29th. This is for the area roughly from Blowing Rock, past Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Cove Viaduct, to the Linville Falls highway exit, basically mile markers 290 - 320. The bicycles will also be traveling on sections of Hwy 221 and other roads in that area. It is an event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have no idea how many bicyclists will actually be participating, but please be careful if you are riding or driving in that area. A motorcycle-bicycle "meeting" is a huge hazard for both sets of 2 wheels. Ride safe!

We rode from Frisco through the I70 tunnel to US 40 and on through Rocky Mountain National Park today. It was a mostly overcast day. There was some paving going on in the park which delayed us about 30 minutes and we had to ride on hard packed dirt and gravel for a few miles. Wasn't a big deal. At the west park entrance we saw a group of people staring into the woods so we did too and saw a huge moose. We made it to Estes Park without getting wet. Photos are here: www.traynorphoto.com/day10 SPOT track: http://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=6473 We're headed to Hill City SD tomorrow. Dennis

Well, not REALLY, it just feels like it. I put a set of Diamond R's leveling struts on my Venture-WOW what a change!!!! This is without doubt the BEST $100 I've EVER spent on a motorcycle (and I've spent a chunk on motorcycles over the past 40 years:grandpa:. This makes a huge difference in the way the bike handles, feels like it's lost 200 lbs at low speed. A GREAT investment (and great customer service!!!!!!

The 83 I bought runs really great - but it has rust everywhere. Basically anything chrome is rusty. I am not sure how much to put into this bike. I checked Ebay and can find chrome pieces such as engine gaurds, stator cover, etc - but shipping is the huge killer. The frame even has rust on it - but not much I will do about that except clean up and paint a bit. So, anyone out here have any parts they want to sell and ship at a decent price?

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have some really awesome members. I needed help getting my bike back close to right and Harry Hyaduck (Yamaduck) made a trip all the way to my house today, about 50 miles to help. He hung with me just about the entire day and even brought a spare part that made all the difference. When we were done we found an issue with my brake lights and he even stayed to help me troubleshoot until we had it. You just don find a lot of people like that these days but I've found them here. This group is awesome and Harry is a prime example of why I am a Venturerider. Thanks Harry and I owe you a huge one my friend. :guitarist 2:f

I have crossed over to the Dark Side, well maybe it's more like gray. Titanium gray. This morning I traded in my '83 VR that I have in the classifieds on a Goldwing. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the technical articles in this web site. Huge, huge help. There were two folks who had expressed an interest in my VR, but things kind of fell into place when this deal came along. Once again thanks for everyones friendship and expertise! Scott:7_6_3[1]:

OK folks, several of you have requested that we offer some new shirts for our members. I'm very pleased to announce that Big Tom has offered to head up this project and we will be offering something very soon. I suggested that we keep it simple and just offer a couple of colors and styles but Tom said that it's not a huge deal to offer several colors and styles so we will see what he comes up with. These shirts WILL have our new revised logo on the back and probably just VentureRiders text in the front pocket area. YES...I did tell him that some of you insist on pockets so we do plan to offer those also. I've attached the new logo for those of you who may not have seen it. A huge thanks to Gray Ghost for his work on the Logo.

If anyone wants to stay in some VERY nice facilities in Leakey,Texas,(Right in the middle of the famed "Three Sisters" Area) I HIGHLY recommend this place , http://www.friopecanfarm.com/fpffacilities.html , While Leakey has a "Motorcycle Only" facility,It is great for Bikers. If you are looking for ALL accomodations,IE:Full kitchen, pots and skillets included plus mixer etc PLUS Heavy steel constructed BBQ Pitts at every cabin and alongside the Frio River plus right in the middle of a huge Pecan Orchard this place is NICE. It seems pricey but splitting with another couple it is well worth it.We rented a 2Bedroom Cabin,2 baths,1 in each bedroom for $140.00 a night. They are super friendly people.I even asked if they would accommodate a large Venture Rider group and they gave me keys to see their larger cabins that have 4 Bedrooms 4 baths full kitchen etc. ALSO a LARGE,VERY Large Pavillion with HUGE BBQ pitts for a group BBQ..THEY SUPPLY THE WOOD FOR THE PITTS!!! I am in no way affilliated with them I just like to share a great place when I find one..I will be back there again. Tom

Thanks Rick. I have put on about 600 miles on the bike since I put the "new" seat. Was not easy with the Jersey weather and it's awsome. I can now ride with out the butt ache. Made a huge difference for me. My butt and I both thank you from the bottom of our ...well...bottoms. Thanks again Rick. Bill

First I want to say thank you for so many of you coming to Asheville. I had no idea so many of you would get there. Seems like you all had a good time. Now there's a few folks I want to send a huge thank you out to: Randya and Laura: They gave me a huge hand with this. Laura is now camp mama, she made sure everyone ate that showed up. She took good care of us. Randy helped with routes for rides. I've been on the roads out there but I couldn't tell you what they were. So I relied on him, and rooster for this. 1rooster: You're a sweetie. He was tail gunner for wed. ride and took good care of our flat lander Thom. He also picked up a few of us in chimney rock to head back to the KOA. Oh and Jeff really liked the little ride he got on your bike with the sidecar. Now he's very motivated to get his on. The rest of my family members, yes you are all my family. Thanks for coming and sharing your time with us. I guess I should thank the muffin for taking me there. This was his idea, I just put it together. Thank you all so very much. Lewis gave me the biggest compliment by saying that this was a great event. I take that as a big pat on the back since he's done vogel for three years. Well gotta get my pics done and see if I can get all the clothes in the hamper. I really need to wash those pants from yesterday at the gem mine. I didn't get any gems but I wore lots of NC dirt. Margaret

Well, I rode a Vision on my trip to Death Valley last weekend and was pretty impressed with the bike overall. Has plenty of smooth power, very, very comfortable. I don't believe that I've ever sat on a more comfortable bike. The ergos were perfect for me (6'1", 230 lbs.). What's truly unique about this bike is that the damn thing fits almost anyone because of the handle bar pull back, low seat height, and extra long floor boards. One of my buddies is 5'8" and had no problem handling this huge bike. I say huge, cause it's damn near as long as the U.S.S. Missouri and weighs 890 lbs. wet. It kinda freaks you out at first cause the windshield is so far out in front of you, and couple that with the fixed fairing, and it takes some getting use to. I was doing almost 75 when I dropped down into 6th gear and it felt like it wasn't even needed. It's a very stable bike in that it handles cross winds, sweepers, and twisties extremely well. The adjustable windshield (electric) makes a huge difference for the passenger when in the highest position. The model we had had everything except the navigation system (heated grips, seats, etc, very nice). Sound of the stereo was excellent. Plug-ins in's galor for your MP3 player and IPOD. Saddlebags are lacking somewhat in space, but the trunk is a good size. We met a writer (Clement Salvadori) from "Rider Magazine" on the trip who was doing a review and of the Vision (he was riding his Vision with a group of BMW sport touring riders) for the magazine at a restaraunt in the park and he sat down with us and picked our brains about our impressions of the bike. I'm gonna get the next issue to see if he plagerized any of us. The bike drew crowds everywhere we went. It's a great machine and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a serious touring bike. (By the way, I had my Midnight RSV parked right next to it and got just as many compliments as the Vision. People were fascinated by the Vision, but also appreciated the "old school" look of the RSV. A lot of people just couldn't handle the futuristic look of the Vision.)
