  1. Hubby bought us the Shark bt intercom for our helmets. One thing we noticed is this. There's alot of treble on the headset and not alot of bass. These use the 3.5mm jack to plug into the bt transmitter. Is it possible to get a new speaker set with mic that has a fuller range than the set that comes with the transmitters? I'm mostly using mine to listen to music out on the road but like every now and then to have an easy way to talk with the hubby.
  2. had a 150+ mile day. Lunch with an old friend and her hubby. She rides her own Virgo, while hubby and new friends ride HDs. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthEast/MS/MS_5.shtml
  3. The hubby put a new battery in the 05 Venture and now our head sets don't work.....I tried finding a thread about the subjet but didn't find anything....anyway, the hubby has been swamped and hasn't had time to read the manual. My question is...when you change the battery, does he need to reset the radio/speakers/etc? and if so is it easy? Thanks Deb
  4. We looked at bikes! We went to 3 different dealers here, one sells only yamaha, one sells all metric bikes, and the last was the HD dealer. The Yammy dealer was eh on assistance with the bikes, the sales guy highly suggested the Vstar 250 as his "daily" bike, but it was too small, was a bit eh on him looking at the 650, and over all the inventory was low. after hubby sitting on a few bikes and getting an idea of what feels ok based on what that dealer had we went to the other dealer that sells all metric. One of the managers was kind enough to walk us through all the bikes on the floor, not just the Yammys and give us all the pluses and minuses on each bike and which ones were best suited for what we looked for in a bike, all in all about 3 hrs of his time. Giving the hubby a once over he thought that the Vstar 950 would be a better starter bike/daily driver than the 650, said the 650 just looked a bit small under him and hubby said the 650 while feeling ok, made him feel squished up on it (heh). This dealer had a Venture on the floor and we were allowed to sit on it, we agreed it's like having a motorized sofa. After spending more time with us the manager gave us his card with the # to register for the local MSF course on it. Also said when hubby gets his license and comes back he'll let us test drive the Venture on the road, which was totally cool! The manager asked me too if there was anything he could do to sell me on a bike of my own to ride, and I explained my disability (I have cerebral palsy) and told him my concerns over the shifting and braking. He showed me an automatic that I could handle easily enough. From here we went to the HD which is practically next door to the last place. We were greeted warmly, but that's about where it stopped. We walked around and hubby sat all the bikes, says they are all too short, except one or 2 of the RK bikes, but the weight is better balanced, but wasn't enough to sell him on them. What really annoyed him was when one of the sales guys fussed at me saying I dunno how to get on a bike (I was sitting in the rider seat then slipped back to the passenger seat before hubby joined me. (HD gets a demerit for that) The as we left the salesguy was very snobby and said on avg it takes 22 trips into an HD dealer before someone buys a bike, what trip is this for you? Overall we had a fun day and learned alot of information and hubby got a true idea of bikes while we were out. Now we have some questions for you guys. If we look at older used bikes say early to mid 90's models what can we expect for being able to find replacement parts for the bike? What else should we be thinking about when looking at bikes new or used? If there's a question or something I missed with looking at bikes please tell me. Regards, Tricia
  5. front fork deflectors they would want to part with for a reasonable price? We have the brackets, I just need the plexiglass parts. The hubby is going to put them on my Virago.
  6. I saw a classified here a couple of weeks ago for passing lamp visors! I thought they would make a great xmas stocking stuffer for the hubby so I bought them. They came in the mail today and I'm too excited to wait till xmas, so I thought I'd give them to him for Fathers Day! That starts at 5:00 tonight doesn't it? hehehe can't wait to get home and suprise him! Thanks again Randy for the bargain I got!
  7. Hello everyone, I am new here. My name is Amy, and I own a 2007 RSTD, and my hubby (Jerry) owns a 2008 RSTD. I am only 5'1" and hubby is 6'7". I need to lower my bike. I have already lowered my rear end, and am going to be lowering my front. I need to know if there is any new side stands I can order or if I need to have mine modified. Also if I need to modify how much should be taken off? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you. Amy
  8. Hubby got a new vest for Christmas and we are looking for a large venturerider patch for it. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Be nice.
  9. A woman has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile > phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her > cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc...was stolen. > > Twenty minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling > him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our > Pin number and I replied a little while ago.' > When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the > money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell > phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin > number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank > account. > Moral of the lesson: do not disclose the relationship between you and > the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, > Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.... and very importantly, when > sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back. > Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them > somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message cam e from > them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to > meet 'family and friends' who text you. > > PLEASE PASS THIS ON. I never thought about THAT! As of right now, I no > longer have 'home' named on my cell phone.
  10. Well, frustration has set in and I'm going to blow a fuse. Hit the deer about a month ago...took it to the dealer....$5,100 in damages later (thought it would be just a new fender and tire) they've got the bike tore down. Perfect, we have to go to New Orleans for a few days, it will be just like new when we get home. Not gonna happen....after talking the hubby into calling after we get back, because we haven't heard anything...he finds out that they haven't ordered parts because he had to sign off on insurance..ok, so he gets that done. Now it's going to be 4-5 days to get the parts in, then another 2 days to put it back together, Fine, should be ready last week. No phone call, no update, so get hubby to call shop guy back to get an update (cuz he's not gonna want to hear from me)and not all the parts are in yet, for sure it will be ready by next Wed (today) but he'll keep us informed. Yeah right...Nicely ask the hubby to call at noon to see if we can pick the bike up tonight and guess what....they've put a few parts on, but all the rest just came in this morning (imagine that) and the shop guy will start working on it as soon as he's done with the bike he's on. Will be done by Friday night. 3 weeks. Thankful we made it through the accident. Thankful we've got insurance. Thankful for my healthy family, but man alive, it's such a short riding season and my butt doesn't fit the backseat of my Virago very well. Well, I've crabbed enough so thanks for letting me vent. Nobody around here would understand! I wish I had my husband's patience, but no such luck.
  11. Just wanted to let you know the we made it home safe!! Put on 2011 miles (which I know is just a short run for some of you!) through the Black Hills and just want to say thanks for all the input on the different roads to take! It was beautiful!! The best part of the trip was when each one of our boys came and told us it was the "best trip they've ever had"! No cells, no tv's and no crowds. It's the perfect time of year to go out there! Hubby had a lot of lookers & questions on his new carrier he built! It worked great! Trying to catch up on the forums and just wanted to say it's been fun catching up on all the humor you clowns throw at each other!!
  12. a certain someone who shall remain nameless right now.........he sent a pm to the hubby the day before Christmas saying this, this is a quote, his actual words......... : *Anyway,,Santa's coming... be good to Cinderella..* *By the way..I KNOW what your getting too.......* *I wanna see it when you put it on.... now doesnt this pretty much tell hubby what he's getting for Christmas?? :no-no-no:maybe not the exact thing ,but definately what its for and where it's going?????? when that message is sent thru this site??????????
