1. Rider killed in LA. Hope it was no one here. http://www.ktbs.com/news/Man-Killed-After-His-Motorcycle-Collided-With-A-Horse/-/144844/17911828/-/hq6ons/-/index.html
2. Not sure what happened but they say I'll Have Another is being pulled from running the Belmont stakes. Something seems to be wrong with the horse. They are having a press conference at 1 this afternoon. So now we have to wait till next year for a possible triple crown winner. Margaret
3. Not sure how many follow horse racing, but "I'll Have Another" just won the Preakness. Already won the Derby and now we wait to see if he can make it three with the Belmont Stakes. Been a few years since we had a triple crown winner. Of course the most amazing triple crown winner was Secretarait, that was one great horse. Margaret
4. A farmer and his brand new bride were riding home from the chapel in a wagon pulled by a team of horses, when the older horse stumbled. The farmer said, "That's once." A little further along, the poor old horse stumbled again. The farmer said, "That's twice." After a little, while the poor old horse stumbled again. The farmer didn't say... anything, but reached under the seat, pulled out a shotgun and shot the horse. His brand new bride raised all kind of hell with him, telling him, "That was an awful thing to do." The farmer said, "That's once."
5. A congressman was seated next to a young girl on a recent flight. Hoping to endear himself to a future voter, he said to her, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger." The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger, "What would you like to talk about?" "Oh, I don't know," said the congressman. "How about global warming or universal health care or stimulus packages?" as he smiled smugly. "OK," she said. "Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. . . . A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. . . Yet, a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?" The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it for a moment and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea." To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss global warming, universal health care, or the economy, when you don't know crap?" She went back to reading her book, and the congressman had nothing else to say the rest of the flight. (Gonna have to remember this one...!)
6. http://mail.aol.com/33456-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=30875120&folder=NewMail&partId=3 One day while he was at the track playing the ponies and all but losing his shirt, Mitch noticed a priest who stepped out onto the track and blessed the forehead of one of the horses lining up for the 4th race. Lo and behold, that horse - a very long shot - won the race.. http://mail.aol.com/33456-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=30875120&folder=NewMail&partId=4 Before the next race, as the horses began lining up, Mitch watched with interest the old priest step onto the track. Sure enough, as the 5th race horses came to the starting gate the priest made a blessing on the forehead of one of the horses. Mitch made a beeline for a betting window and placed a small bet on the horse. Again, even though it was another long shot, the horse the priest had blessed won the race. Mitch collected his winnings, and anxiously waited to see which horse the priest would bless for the 6th race. The priest again blessed a horse. Mitch bet big on it, and it won. Mitch was elated.. As the races continued the priest kept blessing long shot horses, and each one ended up coming in first. By and by, Mitch was pulling in some serious money. By the last race, he knew his wildest dreams were going to come true. He made a quick dash to the ATM, withdrew all his savings, and awaited the priest's blessing that would tell him which horse to bet on. True to his pattern, the priest stepped onto the track for the last race and blessed the forehead of an old nag that was the longest shot of the day. http://mail.aol.com/33456-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=30875120&folder=NewMail&partId=5 Mitch also observed the priest blessing the eyes, ears, and hooves of the old nag. Mitch knew he had a winner and bet every cent he owned on the old nag. http://mail.aol.com/33456-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=30875120&folder=NewMail&partId=6 He then watched dumbfounded as the old nag come in dead last. Mitch, in a state of shock, made his way down to the track area where the priest was. Confronting the old priest he demanded, 'Father! What happened? All day long you blessed horses and they all won. Then in the last race, the horse you blessed lost by a Kentucky mile. Now, thanks to you I've lost every cent of my savings -- all of it!'. http://mail.aol.com/33456-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=30875120&folder=NewMail&partId=7 The priest nodded wisely and with sympathy. 'Son,' he said, 'that's the problem with you Protestants, you can't tell the difference between a simple blessing and last rites.'
7. Man Who Had Sex With Horse Released From Prison Man Ordered To Stay Away From Stable POSTED: Monday, March 21, 2011 UPDATED: 4:21 pm EDT March 21, 2011 http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/email_story_icon.gifEmail http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/print_story_icon.gifPrint http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/twitter_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/facebook_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/buzz_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/google_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/digg_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/reddit_story_icon.gif http://www.news4jax.com/images/structures/misc/delicious_story_icon.gif MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- A South Carolina man who twice pleaded guilty to having sex with a horse has been released from prison after 16 months and ordered to stay away from the stable where the animal lives. Probation officials said Monday that Rodell Vereen, 51, was let out of prison March 1. Vereen must complete two years of probation or he will have to finish the five-year sentence he received in November 2009 after pleading guilty to buggery and trespassing. The Sun-News of Myrtle Beach first reported Vereen's release. Vereen was arrested after the owner of the horse staked out her stable and caught Vereen sneaking inside. She held him at gunpoint until police arrived. The owner said she spent several nights in the barn after catching Vereen having sex with the animal on surveillance tapes. She feared he had returned because her horse was acting strange and getting infections again. She also noticed dirt and hay piled up near the horse's stall in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. Vereen was caught having sex with the same horse in late 2007 and was on probation from that incident when he was arrested a second time, authorities said. The owner of the horse didn't immediately return a message from The Associated Press on Monday, but her husband said she knew Vereen was out of prison and she was scared he would come back to their stables. A phone number for Vereen couldn't be found. Before he pleaded guilty, he told Myrtle Beach television station WMBF-TV he was sorry if he hurt the horse or anyone else. He said he wasn't taking his medicine for schizophrenia when he went to the stables and promised to keep taking his medicine when he got out of prison. Vereen also must continue to register as a sex offender. ___ Information from: The Sun News, http://www.thesunnews.com/
8. A retiring farmer in preparation for selling his land, needed to rid his farm of animals. So he went to every house in his town. To the houses where the man is the boss, he gave a horse. To the houses where the woman is the boss, a chicken was given. He got toward the end of the street and saw a couple outside gardening. "Who's the boss around here?" he asked. "I am." said the man. "I have a black horse and a brown horse," the farmer said, "which one would you like?" The man thought for a minute and said, "The black one." "No, no, no, get the brown one." the man's wife said. "Here's your chicken." said the farmer.
9. Anyone here ever use or know about Power Puck by Diablo Sport? I have read a lot of good stuff about it, but still a little iffy. Looking to get a little more pep out of the diesel truck when pulling the horse trailer.
10. Now that I've finally learned to attach pic's I thought I'd show you my other hobby. Her name is Grace and she's a 6 year old Belgian draft horse. I'm a big guy 6' 4" and 250 lbs so I never would have felt comfortable riding a smaller horse. She goes out for training in april and I can't wait to get her back. Horseback on sat. motorcycle on sunday. woohoo!
11. as you can see by the picture i have a new ad-venture that silly better half of mine convinced me that this is a better way to ride? i had a great time and"cearria" is a great horse but my venture sure dont hurt my bottom like this one did ( for 2 days) but i never could find the kickstand.....
12. No not the RSV, my daughter's barrel horse. He had been in the pasture for 5 days with a bit of a swollen leg. It was time to get back to training. Just like a kid, he did not want to. He was acting up with my daughter so I got on him. He usually staightens up for me becuase he knows I'll put the spurs in his sides. We were standing at the end of the areana, next to the cow chutes. There is a littleshelter/pavillion area we sit and watch or take a break out of the sun. There are also 3 patio chairs there. Trying to get the horse to go one more time, he did his usual, "I'll try to go the other way." When I pulled him back, he did 3 very fast spins, throwing me off on the 3rd. I swore it was only 1 spin. I landed partially on one of the chairs. Took me about 10 minutes to get my breath and all. Got back on the horse and ran him 2 laps to let him know he was not getting away with that behavior. THEN went to the ER. One broken rib. Hurts to breath. No riding this weekend.
13. Just wondering if any of you live close to the Lexington, KY horse farm area. We rode with a group to that area about 5-6 years ago and just cruised some of the back roads and took in the beautiful horse farms (with barns that put most mansions to shame!). We also toured the Keeneland (?) race track. Anyway, I'm thinking of putting together a little ride for some friends (and anyone else who would want to meet up) this spring back to that area. When I was there before someone else was leading and I basically paid no attention to the routes we took. Anyone have any suggestions of roads/routes that we just shouldn't miss? Any other things we should see while we're there? Thanks, Joe
14. Been reading postings all day, didn't have much to say, so decided to go for a ride on the Busa. Good ride. Nothing interesting happened, No Hay bales on the road, no blown tires, No boats sitting on the road, no radar traps. Was a very uneventful ride. However, I did see something worth mentioning, I went down a road I had never been on before. I saw a " FAT " Horse. No kidding, never saw a Fat Horse before. (( Is that politically Incorrect ))
15. even though there are hard times i got a great raise today. about $150.00 dollars a month. i turned my wifes hay burner (horse) out in the pasture. we had to put her in a stall for the winter cuz of an injury to her hoof. my wife loves her , i look at her as 1000 lbs. of meat when i move into my refridgerator box, and i don't have to shovel those little oval horse things anymore. oh happy day. :clap2: ps. really i do like horses just getting a little old to ride and train them any more. you think a bike will fold spindle and mutilate you, just train horses for awhile. i've got broken ribs and a collar bone to prove it.

22. We recently had to put down our horse due to advanced age. Wasn't sure if my wife would want another for awhile but we got a call from the New York Thoroughbred Rescue Association. They adopt out Thoroughbred horses whose careers are over and try to find them new homes. Well...him and Sam met and it was love at first sight. We picked him up last week and he's now settled in at his new home. He's a really sweet horse with few of the issues associated with the breed and he has great blood lines...here are some pics of his 'homecoming..... He's a little thin, but nothing we can't fix....
