I was riding down Black Mountain today. I had a truck riding my rear end in the rain so I decided to change lanes and let this old gesser pass. Problem was it was raining hard and I was already leaning in the curve.I hit one of the dotted white lines and the front tire broke traction. Scared the crap out of me. Bike felt like it fell over and then came up wright . To make matters worse I had the bunkhouse trailer hooked on and it went to wagging around back there. When I finally got it under control I was less then a foot or so from the concrete divider wall . I rode for the next 2 hrs white knuckling my old girl before I finally calmed down. David

Got this from a member (with his permission) off the GL1800Riders board. Thought it was a good "guide" for all to consider when parking your scoot in a parking lot with the trailer hooked up for safety. http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp16/SilvrT/minimumriskparkinga1.jpg

If you are setting on the right side of the bike on a stool and you are changing the plugs in the front right head and if you look in there you will see a little tube that comes up next to the plug (towards the inside of the motor) it runs down and then into the head . Looks like it could or should maybe have a small vacum line or something hooked to it. Should it? What is it for? Anyone know?

So, I've learned what to pack and how to pack from the great posts on this site, but the better half is still looking for a little more area. On one of my rides I saw a HD with a small strap on piece of luggage that hooked to the saddlebag rails. It was about a 16x6X4 high. I thought it might be a nice place to put glasses, gloves, sun tan lotion and such. Any body seen such a thing, or know where to find it?:think:

Anyone out there pull a Piggybacker with their 2nd Gen? I used to have an older model Piggybacker that I pulled with my first 2nd Gen and it had regular bulbs in the tail light. I hooked it up with a Hopkins converter and everything worked great. I just bought a newer Piggybacker to pull with my 05 and it has LED tail lights. I hooked it up with a Hopkins 46155 converter and everything went well, but the flashers and turn signals don't work as expected. I can see a small flicker with the blinker/flasher on, but I figured an extra set of LEDs would light up. The tail lights have a label on the that state 1 wire for tail, 1 for stop turn and 1 for ground. So.....has anyone on here with a newer piggybacker had this issue?

I hooked up my Morgan Carbtune last night trying to get this 93 up and running, and it will not pull any of the sliders on the Carbtune up at all. If you rev it up, still nothing, but on deceleration they move slightly. Anybody have this issue before? I keep the Carbtune in its case, but maybe it needs cleaning? Or is it something with the bike? Thanks for any ideas. I have a Vmax, so I know the Carbtune is properly hooked up.

OK I have a question. On the right side of the bike (when sitting on it) just above the window that you check your oil in there is a little tube (about the diameter of a wd40 straw and about as long) coming of a little plug type thing. Is this a vent tube of some sort or should it be hooked to something. I have never noticed it before and it runs forward and down like a vent. Open for info please advise:whistling:

So after reading what seems like HUNDREDS of reviews of both wired and wireless comm systems, and trying several out at dealers and bike shows, I have ordered a Starcom1 Advanced unit with two headset kits from ShangoRider.com. Supposed to be here later this week, so I will put it on the RTSD next week (and take some photos) and report back once I have it all hooked up. This way, the wife and I can finally make fun of people in traffic without having to yell so loud that they might hear us.

I work for Modine and I bought and installed one of their ceiling hung heaters that was on clearance. Installed it in Sept. and it worked perfect until last week when the weather cooled off drastically. It is hooked up to a 100 lb bottle that probably has a foot of liquid left in it. The pilot went out and I can't get it to light again. I assumed it was a pressure problem. Yesterday it got into the 50s and it worked again. I figured that confirmed what I thought. Today it cooled off again. I made a pressure gauge for inches of water column from plans on the internet. Hooked it up to the input side of the valve ( a Robertshaw 720-402) and it measured exactly 11 inches just like it was supposed to. Part of my problem is that the company sent instructions for an intermittent pilot valve and mine is a standing pilot. When I hooked the gauge up to the output side it shows no pressure and of course I can't get it to light again. What does an expert think?

Been dealing with the local dealer for a number of years with sleds and bikes! Lost a lot of faith in them today! Did an oil change on the bike and checking everything over lights etc. What the H.ll turn signal on left the front blinks right and visa versa other way! The dealer installed passing lihhts for me about 5000km ago and hooked the sinals up BACKWARDS! As I walk into dealer this am the salesman says how are you I said glad I did not get smoked you guys hooked up the signal lights backwards. Response from service guy was no way we would have done that! I put the keys on the desk and said I will be back later this morning for the bike!. At the front door I spopped and told him YOU installed the passing lights and YOU assembled the bike!! When I picked up the bike they were very sheepish and appologetic! How fortunate I did not get smoked at an intersection!!! Lawsuit would have been underway for sure! Lesson learned check over everything YOURSELF!!!! Sorry this was such a book! Ken!

We've been kickin' around the idea of building some type of aluminum pull behind camper trailer for our bike. While searchin' the web for shape and other feature ideas, came across this sight. http://www.microlitetrailer.com/microlitegallery.html click on moto-mate Found some other brands hooked to GW, BMW, Kaw Voyager, and HD, but this one really caught my eye. Anybody here?? Later, Scooter Bob

I have a 08 venture. The frunt blinker lights stay on all the time like clerance lights. Do the back ones stay on like that or did some thing hapen when I hooked up my driving lights? I checked the wires they are hooked up the same as they were. I don.t rember if the back lights were on all the time or not. Have only had the bike 2 weeks. Memery isn't that good. Thanks

In the past I thought I saw a Aux terminal box hooked near the battery for all the gadgets that are installed. I would like to make it so I have less hooked directly to the battery. (kinda make it pretty in that area) OR anybody have any idea's? Anybody remember were the post or write-up was? Thanks, Jeff

I gently popped out the lower vents on my '85 to see why the vents won't stay open. Well, no wonder, there's nothing there to keep'em open! So, I took plain ol' rubber bands (black is better) and hooked them around the snap-tabs and across the vents. Works better than new! Don't overdo it with the bands though. You wouldn't want to stress the plastic parts. Check out the pictures.

Well, been waiting since my birthday and for the tax check to come in so I can go get an iPhone. As this is supposed to have the ability to switch from listening to music to answering a call with the included earphones, has anyone hooked one of these up on their bike so it works through the intercom system and headsets?

I am looking at picking up a 89 VR listed as a parts bike. The guy is asking $600. I have seen it and most of the plastic is junk, seat is ripped. Looks like he left it outside all winter and not covered, not sure. Question is what on the bike would still have to work to make it worth the trouble of buying and stripping down? I cannot see his price at this time, claims new computer last year. I have not hooked up a good battery to see what works or if it really starts. He claims all but the cruise work, and it runs good. I need a few parts to get both of my bikes fully functional, different items between them. Thoughts, opinions would help.

I hooked up my passing lamps today. Found the wiring diagram here on this site, followed it, now here is what I have. With the lamps turned on, right turn signal works fine. Turn on the left turn signal, both turn signals and headlight flash and the radio goes dead. I have gone over the wiring to make sure everything is hooked up according to the instructions that I have, but still the same thing happens. I have my power from the battery through a fused wire to a relay, from the relay I ran another wire to a seperate switch, from the relay another wire powered by ignition. Any ideas guys, sure could use some. Thanks.

Today I got the tourmaster heated vests I ordered long ago. I hooked them both up interested in the draw on my electrics. I could not find any info on the amp draw but figured them to be the same as the competition. Well they are not. Each vest with collar draws 4.5 amps which was a lot more. Anyway I got them hooked up and they are toasty warm. I cranked both on high and kicked on the heated grips with the bike running in the garage (rained today) and even at idle the kuryakyn volt meter stayed in the green. I wont know for sure till i can run it all on high for a extended time but so far it looks good. Btw, i dont run driving lights. Looks like I'll be staying toasty!

How hard would it be to install this AMP in the fariing to give the speakers just a little more volume? I'm not sure I understand what would be hooked up to it. Any insight would be helpful, picutures would be better. Thanks, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320145497919&rd=1

I was recently given a 2000 Venture by a friend. He got it from a relative not working.Hooked up jumper cables and nothing. He put in a new battery and got nothing.Checked the fuses all good. The story goes the bike died after somebody hooked up cables for a jump backwards. At this point he gave it to me. I intend to double check what he did but would like some advice on what to check next.Thank You in advance for any help.
