as some of you know I was having some troubles with things about a month or so ago. times where tough. well today my landlord came to me and said we are giving you a Christmas gift? you use to deliver newspapers to us for over 8 years. and we just never really gave much back then when you stopped in. so we thought you might like a nice slightly used gas dryer and washer. about 4 years old in good working condition. as they bought a new set for there place. I have the hook ups here to do this in my place so I said heck ya and thank you so much. they said where not done yet? we are giving you $100 off of next months rent as well. then for a joke they gave me a fruit cake. I think they had for like 15 years LOL I am just so happy that they thought of me in this way. just thought I would spread the good news.

Sunday after getting the brakes blead, exhaust leak/backfire problem fixed and the rest of the body parts back on it was time to take her out on the road to see how she would do with the new Programmable TCI. So I called and arranged a hook up with RandyR in Dahlonga for the Bear On the Square Festival. (about a 75 mile one way trip) She deffinately had a lot more acceration in all ranges but it was not a smooth acceration. It felt as if the bike was surging or lunging forward as it was cruising and accerating with a jerky reaction. When I would gun it, it the would increase RPM but it felt like the clutch was slipping a little and would have to catch up with the the engine to take off. The gas consumption was rapid. Since the bike had been sitting for about a year with an empty tank and the new gas in that first tank and was mixed about 3 gal of gas to 1/2 can of seafoam I'm not discounting the possibility of some moisture in the tank and fuel system. I'm thinking I need to run a few tank full of gas to see if it improves. While in Dahlonga we did hook up Randy's carb tune and the carb sync was pretty close to where it should be. The second tank of gas without sea foam got 94 miles to 3.699 gallons of gas. Monday ride to work and back (20 miles each way was a little better but not 100%. Now on the third tank. My next steps are to replace in lin fuel filter and fresh fluid and blead on the clutch line. Any other ideas. -
Will be picking up my new to me Venture Royale tomorrow and can't wait. I will be bringing it home on a trailer as the weather around here isn't too great yet. What I'm wondering is where is the best place to hook the tie down straps. My other bikes don't have all this bodywork to worry about so they are pretty easy. Any help is appreciated. By the way, it's a 1990. -
Heading to the TN and NC mountains this weekend, and the low's are looking like they will be in the 30's, so it's time to hook up the Gerbin's. Should be a beautiful ride though. Riding 2-up this time, as the wife's shoulder is acting up and the doc has grounded her from riding her own bike. Any word on running two sets of Gerbin heated gloves off the battery as far as overload is concerned? We've not done that before and I don't want to have any electrical problems so far from home.

I have the Diamond R hidden Hitch and find it a pain hooking up the safety chains. Am I missing some thing or is there another option other than the 2 holes on top of the hitch inside the fender? How do you guys hook your chains on the hitch? I have been thinking about something like the picture below.....is this advisable? Keith

I asked how to hook up the 4 pin trailer plug on my old 84 and someone here had the wire color codes to splice into, now I have an 86 and lost the the print out does someone know the color codes to hook it up ? Tom -
I am going to replace the glass fuses with the ATC blade type set-up on my '84. With all the writeups here, I think I can tackle the issue. My question is, What about the top (towards the front of the bike) connection. I understand that this is called a fusable link. Can I hook this to a fuse and if so, what size should I use? It is finally getting warm enough here to work in an unheated garage and I would like to get the bike ready to ride. Thanks, Dave

OK I know its been discussed butI cant find specifics. When my taxes come in my wife has gave me permision to get a gps.Limit is in the $300 range. What will be a good gps in this range with bluetooth and mp3 player with an exterior speaker output. I will be getting in touch with buddyrich for a cable hook up that he makes for the 1st gens. This gps will be mostly for the bike but also will pull double duty in the cage when needed. Any ideas will be apreciated. Thanks in advance David

The #2 carb on the 85 engine has a hose hookup that appears to be about the same location as the 83 port for the boost sensor that runs to an emission system. Since the good spare TCI I have is for an 83, I wonder if that hook up would work correctly. I also wonder if all these emission hoses can be removed and blocked. Randy -
I just got a battery tender Jr. for my 2000 RSV. The directions say to hook up the positive to the battery and negative to the frame or vice versa. It doesn't offer what I thought was the obvious way to hook the thing up which was the red to red and black to black. How do you hook them up?

I have an IPOD with a number of songs on it and the wife has the Shuffle with fewer songs on this. She would like to get a few songs off my IPOD to her Shuffle but I'm not sure if or how this can be done. Can I open my i tunes and unclick all of the songs then let her choose the ones she wants then hook hers to sync?

I have a 2008 venture and would like to get rid of my cassette deck and install what? I don't want to stock cds in the bike but I suppose if I have to I would. I would prefer a USB hook up to plug in an Ipod. Is there anything like that available ? Tks.

Ok I have been all over this forum and I am more confused than ever LOL. I am looking for a decent tach for my 99 RSV. Simple hook up as I am no mechanic and price worthy. Any suggestions out there for me? TIA guys you all rock.

I want to hook up a dwell-tach meter that I have from the old days when you could work on a car to my 2nd gen to set the idle speed. There's two wires on it and I think one went to ground and the other to the coil. Anyone know where to hook up to get a reading for tach?

I have one of the drain hoses on my 86 that fell off. Drain is just leaking down between cylinders. Any trick to hook that thing back up without pulling carbs??

After all the time that the venture has been on the road why hasn,t any one come up with a harness for trailer plug in before now.... I looked behind the seat and there isn,t much room to hook up new wires and the tail light has wires all over..there got to be something out there Whistler:bang head:

So I'm coming for sure now but I had a few questions. 1. Is this just for the day or are people coming up early? Are there camping spots around, and would anyone want to share one if I came up on friday? 2. Anyone gonna be coming through the eastern indiana, western ohio area that would want to hook up and ride together? (I've never ridden in a "pack" so you would have to forgive my ignorance) 3. Do I need to bring tools? If so I'll have to cage the bike to bring it down, I don't have a lot of extra space in my saddlebags.
