  1. Anyone have 2 of those small plastic caps that goes over the allen head screws that holds the right Fairing Cover onto the Faring.
  2. I have a set of Venture passenger hand holds on my RSTD. I'm getting ready to take a crack at a quick release trunk mount, but don't want to lose some form of hand grip for my passenger. Making the bracket / hand hold bar is no big issue, but what do people use for some form of non slip surface? I have seen the material for tools that you dip the handles of pliers (for example) into it. And, I have seen truck bed liner material in a can. Has anyone tried either of these for hand holds on a bike?
  3. I have a 2006 RSV. Yesterday, when I went to downshift for the toll booth, I found I had no shifter. It was laying on the foot board. I stopped and slipped it back on to its pivot shaft and got home fine. My question is... What holds it on the shaft? The shaft has a groove machined in it all the around about half way on its length. But I see nothing on the shift lever that indicates how it is held on???? Thank you in advance CG
  4. I decided to run with Shell V-Power High Test ($1.43L)($6.50 a Gallon)gas I found that the FJR ran much smoother than my other Brand The Overall average for Gas Mileage was 54.94 mpg with speeds min of 118kph/73,23 mph to a top end of 173kph /107.43 mph and this is a guy who weighs 255 lbs and lots of gear ( IM IMPRESSED) The FJR holds 25 litres or 5,5 gallons of full travelling at 120 kph or 74.54 mph before hitting reserve I used 19.7 litres or 4.33 gallons of Fuel I managed to get 374.2kms or 232.4 miles
  5. I can't find a part number for a part. I took the tank off my bike. On the left side there is a black cover that attaches to the neck of the frame. Does anyone know the description and part number? I need the screw that holds this part on the bike. Thanks,
  6. I posted this in general tech but maybe nobody saw it. I need to know if the passenger seat bracket (the one that holds the front of the seat) is the same on a '96 and an '07 RSTD. Thanks y'all.......
  7. I hope someone will help looking up a part number. I have an 05 Venture. Sitting on the bike if you look to the left inside of the fairing there are 4 bolts. The top bolt holds goes through the fairing and holds the chrome trim piece on. The next three bolts go in the fairing and I lost all three of them riding this weekend. I went to the parts catalog on the yamaha web site and the fairing is listed under cowling 1 but I can't determine which number is listed for these three bolts. Any help would be appreciated.
  8. I have running lights on my 2004 RSV I damage the ring that goes around the light that holds it together. Does any body have one that I could buy here are some pictures of what I need or do you know were I can get one.
  9. So, I've been trying to figure out why # 3 is not firing. I have spark, I can see fuel flowing into all 4 carbs from the needle which holds the slides while bike is running. If I drip a little gas into the carb for #3, the rpms come up and the pipe gets hot, so it def. a fuel problem ANyone know why I can see fuel flowing from around the needle seat which holds the slides in the carb, but cylinder doesn't fire unless I drip some fuel into it? I am planning to put back together and run it that way to see if the cylinder is firing under riding conditions. Maybe an idle circuit problem?
  10. Hi All As I have some time off thought I would give you a up date on my day. Yesterday I was getting out of the fire truck at work and I slipped on the step. I held on to the hand rail with my right arm and tore the tendon that holds my bicep. I will go to orthopidick Dr today and see how long I will be out of work. I guess it could be worse it could be july and no riding. Bull463
  11. The part that holds the lid up is loose, The top screw you can get to but how do you get to the bottom screw

  15. I was puting a new shaft seal seal in the rear end, got all back together and looked down on the floor, and the chrome cap that sets on the rear vent was on the floor. Does not look like much holds it on. Anyone else had one come off, I must have knocked off somehow. Gregg
  16. I have an 85 trunk that I want to put on my 84. I have the trunk and the bracket that holds it but I'm missing the bar that holds the antenna. Does anyone have one that will fit they'd be willing to part with? I was wondering if the Mk2 would be the same. 84 is shorter so won't reach past the edge of the trunk and is not attached the same way. Wayne
  17. Jt has been activated and is at Camp Shelby now, he will be going too Oklahoma soon for training. from there i think he has some leave time home then to Afghanistan in July. I'll check on the dates. Jake is leaving for Iraq from San Diego in the morning. Jake has had so much trouble with his soon to be X-WIFE calling his command to complain about one thing or the other. And from this and several NJP's (her phone calls and his attitude) He now holds the rank of PFC instead of L CPL. Please keep my boys in your prayers. If you would like to encourage them, I will send you their e-mail, just let me know.

  19. While mooching around on the web...yes I do go to other sites once in a while... I ran acrossed this chart on the IIHS web site. Interesting and eye opening. I realize the info is a couple of years old, but the percentages seems to stay about the same over a 5 year period even though the numbers have increased. In the cruiser catagory, the largest group represented, and crunching out the numbers, we had 1,583 deaths in 2005. And if that holds true in our 5,000 membership board we can potentially expect a little under 3 to die. In the touring catagory, taking an estimated WAS, we'd loose 1. Not a pleasant thought. So be really carefull out there......
  20. hello friends... though i would update you guys on my crash. first i want to say thanks for the well wishes from everyone. so here we go. the bike suffered damage to the left side faring. it will need the center fairing rail the one that holds the instrument panel. it also needs a left mirrow, blinker, and fairing half. it also needs the panel that holds the left speaker and radio mount and left air vent. the rest i have already taken care of. now the news on us. the better half is doing very well. she healed up great. me i have a cracked rib and lower back damage. plan to go back to the doctor soon for a MRI. still can' t stand for a long period of time or sit for a long time. been off from work now since the crash. since i am self employed bills are mounting up quick. looks like i will be selling some things to get by until i'm back on my feet. ok now for the really bad news. on the date of our wreck my insurance had lapsed and our bills came in came to about 10,000 out of pocket for ambulance, er, x-rays cat-scan, and meds. stupid gets you everywhere huh. i laugh to keep from crying. on a good note i redone my insurance for a year and marked it on my calendar as not to forget again. forgetting cost me big time. thats it in a nut shell so if anyone has an old part just lying around hang on to it till i get on my feet and i will buy it frome you. also if you don,t mind mention me in your prayers and thanks again to the best group on the internet ever. steve:thumbsup2: tt
  21. Brad25ca, is in need of a Bracket from an old Carb Set for his 86. Anybody out there who has replaced his complete Carb Set, might still have the parts laying around that he needs. ( part he needs cannot be ordered seperatly ) Its the Bracket assembly that holds the Throttle " Pull " cable In place, located between the two left side carbs. If anybody can help, drop him a message !!!
  22. Hi guys. The RH dash panel - CB mount on my 87 VR is kinda trashed. Do any of you have one in decent condition you'd like to sell? I'm talking about the panel that screw in with 6 allen-head screws and directly holds the CB and the CLASS swing-up assembly. I might also be interested in the larger dash panel on the RH side, the one that the above panel mounts to and which holds the speaker. Thanks, Jeremy
  23. My plastic cracked because I had too much oil in my shocks. Now I need the plastic that holds the CB and Air ride gauge. I'd love to find one for a reasonable price. Anyone know where I can get just the plastic?
  24. Leather with Lycra. They say that it is more abrasion resistant than conventional leather and yet stretches and holds its shape as well as being water resistant. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.
