No, not a Harley. Linda and I were taking a ride down a country road that I had never been on before in SW VA and came around a blind curve and walking across the road was a big black hog. He was just taking his time and did not hurry one bit when I came toward him. I guess one of the good things about losing the vision in my right eye is I am a lot more cautious about coming around a blind curve and not out driving farther than I can see. Fortunately, in this case, I was able to avoid the hog as I don't think it would have turned out good for any of us. RandyA

We got 27" of snow in last 24 hour and with the wind I have some drifts that are in the 5 foot range. Doesn't look like the ground hog was right for a early spring for use up here in northern N.Y. Here are a few photos.

http://blog.motorcycle.com/2010/10/29/products/cardo-scala-goes-hollywood/ I've never heard of this movie...but apparently theres a guy on a bike in the movie. Which is usually a good thing. Except in the movie Hog Wild. What a piss-poor portrayal of bikers. But I digress. Anyway, check it out.

Well folks, placed the order for the 2009 PIP Guest of Honor. Have ordered a 100-110 pound dressed pit ready hog. Hopefully I will have to change that order for a larger hog. But for now, at least it's ordered. So, if you still haven't registered, Juggler has made it real easy. Just visit www.porkinthepines.com. And remember, donations only this year.

Not to insult anyone here, I know there are some harley owners that are hog members that are members here too. Has anyone had trouble with Hog members, I have a few friends that are Hog members, but most seem to treat anybody that rides anything other than a harley like dirt. Or is it just me. Gregg

Our STAR chapter is going to host its first annual "Kick-start this Summer" Spit Roasted Whole Hog Roast - May 9th - at Rankin Park in Martinez, CA. The time will be from 12PM - 3PMish. This is going to be a catered affair, chicken available for those who don't eat pork, along with salads, fruit, etcetc. This will be a non-alcoholic event. One of our members has volunteered his band - the Ghostriders - and our proceeds will be donated to the local Contra Costa Food Bank. We are projecting a price of $20.00 for adults, less for children. I want to invite all the VentureRiders - espcially those here in Northern California. Details are still being worked out - but thought I would post this so you all can save the date. We're "Going Hog Wild" and I Hope to See You All There.

Hello everyone, I just recently joined this great group of people and I was wondering if there is a group that meets in Southern Vermont or within a resonable distance from the Ma/Vt border. My wife and I still belong to the local HOG Chapter but we're looking to expand our search for new friends (Big Metric Bikes). I'm still learning how to navigate this site so I may have missed something somewhere. thanks Joshua

If anyone is available and interested in providing some assistance, we will be holding a work party at Gary's place to get ready for the 2008 Pork in the Pines. Primarily we will be building a new cooker for the hog. But there are some other things that need attention. We will be there next Sat, Jul 12, 2008. Hope to get started around 7 am. I realize that that is real early for some, but want to make a full day of it. So, if you have nothing else going on and would be willing to give us a hand, we sure would appreciate it. Thanks much. BTW: The on-line site is up and running for those who would like to pre-register. This will help us get an idea on how large a hog to order.
