went to my uncles house last week end and he has an insanely steep driveway with a 90 degree turn half way up that is recessed in the middle, don't know what inspired me to stop there but i did and with front and rear tire propped up on the hills i put my foot down and nothing was there. smash onto the crash bars with my aunt and uncle sitting on the front porch wondering who the idiot fallen into the bushes is

Never heard of the Hocking hills before but 12 hours later the wife and I had a cabin rented for the night and saddled up and headed out. Two highschool kids were on a mission trip in the dominican republic and the youngest at young teen camp. We took 52 south out of Chelsea, MI into OH 109 to Lima. From there we headed east and picked up 56. What a great drive. We took a pit stop about an hour from our destination and realized a strong storm was trailing us. We arrived at the cabin around 4:30 thinking the storm might pass through for us to go out for dinner. Not so. Wind, hail, rain well into the night. I managed to kick back on the covered deck in the hot tub and watch the strom roll through. Good thing for the coffee we found to brew up for dinner! The next day we spent meandering through the hills and state park with several miles of hiking. What a great day. The evening closed in a torrential downpour on I-75 heading towards Toledo. We found a car to follow and watched their tail lights for 45 minutes. The rain finally ended around Toledo and we managed to dry out a bit by home. Check out the hocking hills. A great ride. Larry

The cruise on my 99 RSV kicks out on hills and more easily riding 2 up. It did not work when I bought the bike and I have been through all the switches and diagnostics and found a carb cable out of adjustment a long way. My real feeling now is that I still have an adjustment issue and wondered if anyone felt that I have things too tight or not tight enough on adjustment tolerances. It seems that the cc can't respond fast enough and kicks out because of not holding speed up or down hills. On flats it's fine riding solo is fine also even in some small hills. Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm looking at purchasing the exhaust adapter for HD pipes. I was trying to search through ebay....under the store name "Hills" and found thousands listings....2 of which were the adapters. 1 has the plates and SS couplers. The other just the adapters and instructions etc. Problem is, they were both different sellers and not sure if either were Hills? I'd like to buy from site members if at all possible. I PM'd Hills a couple days ago but haven't heard anything back. The first was from ebay ID r-rebel2.....and can't recall the 2nd one. Thanks guys

I finally got the trike put back together after having the trunk sealed. We went for a nice 75 degree ride through the hills. She got her first helmet hair of the season. And best of all we got ICE CREAM. Life is good. Mike and T

Sturgis pics! Of course the 'R' rated pics are not here. A couple of pics show me in front of some very new and very old items. Plus the lake you see is the Sylvan Lake. Very scenic. The pics of the vehicles on the road including mine, are of an accident we came across while riding in the Black Hills, and you can barely see a red ElectraGlide jammed under the guard rail. We were told at the scene the rider was alive...'for now'....we dont know the outcome, as we were all directed to turn around and head back the way we came. Not a good way to see the Black Hills...from an ambulance. I hope the rider survived.

Hello Everyone: Anyone passing through the black hills on the way to Cody? If so we have stayed at the Cheif Motel in Custer SD, many times. Indoor pool, Hot tub and covered deck to park several bike under. Bruce and Nancy are wonderful people. Otherwise another friend manages the Holiday Inn Express in Custer and has a bit of land to park a cage and trailer if you would need to drop one off and ride the rest of the way. Keep in touch. Look forward to meeting everyone!

Lots of wind too... The critters have all hidden in the barn and the dog won't even go outside:cold::cold: I'm so ready for SUMMER!

Just returned from seven days of riding the Ozarks, Missouri and Oklahoma. Some of the best riding I have ever experienced (not scenery but roads, the scenery ain't bad). Twists, turns, up hills down hills, switchbacks. Ft Smith, Harrison, Jasper, Mt Judea, Pig Trail, Eureka Springs, Branson, Yellville, Tahlequah, Sallisaw. 2,500 miles of fun. Had no idea such great riding existed in that area. I have 1,300 pictures and over 5GB of videos. It will take me some time to sort, edit and post them. The folks were "Texas friendly" and the prices for food and lodging were very reasonable. Now that I know a little bit more about the area I'm going to ride it again. We had mapped out all the routes on our GPS prior to the trip but changed plans once there taking the routes suggested by the local folks. We used these the most often: Let's Ride Motorcycle Riding Guide of the Ozarks PDF Map files Next time I will stay in the Jasper area.

Beth has decided that this year it's the Black Hills, Deadwood, Sturgis, Spearfish and all for our vacation ride. When is the best time to ride these parts? We don't want to be part of the rally in Sturgis, but would like to have been there type thing before the mad rush. So, weather wise......realizing that ol' Mother Nature doesn't always co-operate.....when do you think is the best time to head that way? gunk:think:

Got back home last night from the Black Hills....had a great time...just thought I'd share a pix of a place where we hadn't been before. It's a town (population....probably 3) called Rochford. You drive 17 miles in on blacktop, eat at the bar and drive 17 miles back out. The place was packed!

Hello Everyone: I have made so many on line friends from this site in a very short time. If you ever find your way passing through Western Nebraska perhaps on the way to other destinations such as Colorado mountains, Yellowstone in Wyoming or the Black Hills of SD. Besure to let us know you are coming. I would love to meet some of my fellow owners and riders. We are planning our annual trip to the Black Hills of SD the week before Sturgis. I know the area fairly well. Take care....

Yet again, an older video I've encoded to digital....and some viewers may recognize the tunes from another video I posted last year. Just wondering how eveyone else decides which is the best. I,ve noticed when I,m in the mountains, especially two up or pulling a trailer and cruising on curvy mountain roads the scenery goes by and all I see is the road in front. Really have to stop or pull over some where safe to have a look around. When I,m driving all I see is the road in front, miss all the good stuff. On the prairies things seem to slow down and if there is some thing interesting you get a chance to decide if it,s interesting and pull over. Now I know the air is fresher and cleaner in the moutains but it just seems that I stop more to look around when on an open road than in the hills. Funny thing is I have met more people pulled over on:think: the open road than in the hills, both in Canada and the US.

I think the third weekend in june me and a buddy are going to ride up to to the black hills. If anyone else can make this ride and wants to meet for a ride around the country, that would be fun!

Just wanted to share with you all the great ride I had on Sunday. Alan removed the back brake pad to give room for my right boot and I led a Ulysses Club ride for the first time in two year's. We went up into the hills for breakfast, and we were joined by 34 bikes!!!!!! Alan rode pillion with me (trusting guy) and after brekky we rode around the dam and back down the hills to finish down on the foreshore for coffee. MAGIC:clap2:

Terry and I made it home from the rally today. We left the rally and headed for the Colorado Rockies but a bad cross wind in Oklahoma blew us to the black hills instead. We rode around the Black hills a bit and got in to Winnipeg today. Just came from visiting the grandson. Newborns can grow a lot in 2 1/2 weeks. I very much want to thank all who made the international rally such a successful event. We had a great time. Take care, Tom:canada:

Ronda and I had a very nice ride yesterday through the Black Hills. She had taken some very nice video of the Iron Mountain road, but unfortunately the memory card crashed after we got home. (Also lost a bunch of grandbaby pictures). Anyway, during our riding the hills and talking a good portion of it we decided to seriously think about selling our '83 Venture Royale and get something new. I would very much like to see someone from this group to give it a good home. I will get it posted in the classifieds later. Very low mileage, just rolled over 30k. I will post again when I get it listed in the classifieds.

The better 1/2 and I decided to take our summer ride in the Black Hills this year during last week in June. We wanted to spend a few days in the Hills, riding around and checking out the countryside. Any info on "must-see" places, (besides the big heads, of course), roads to ride, spots for the best scenic vistas, quiet motels (or motels to avoid), tourist traps to avoid, etc. etc. would be appreciated. We were looking at going to Wind Cave and Jewel Cave - are they worth seeing? On the way back to WI, we are thinking of going thru ND - is there anything in ND...................anywhere................worth seeing? :-) Thanks

Wife & I have a cabin rented in Hocking Hills for the weekend of Sept. 19 & 20. Wondered if anyone lives close. Won't have a lot of time, but maybe could get together for a meal and get to meet some members from this great group. Gil:banana:

OK guys I am leaving for Colorado in the morning. Stopping in Iowa to meet a fellow biker (nyuk), and then out through Nebraska through the sand hills and then some how some way to get to Denver / Thornton CO. to my daughters and then Tuesday 22nd to meet up with Big John for dinner and a meet and greet near there. Then the following weekend headed home and hopefully meet up with OB-1 out in Wyoming (east side) near the Black Hills and putts around there for a while. then back to Minnesota and Paul Bunyon and the 10,000 lakes for a much needed rest. See ya all when I get back.
