We had a great weekend. Saturday I had to go look at a job and we turned it into a "quick" 100 mile scenic ride. The ride was almost ruined by the sight of a fat shirtless man walking down the side of a busy 4 lane road with his hand so far down inside his pants he could have scratched his toes. The sun won out however and we even got to see our first triked scooter. That night we were invited to ride with a local group, which is where the Kudos come in. Saturday night we were told the ride would be from Easley SC to Hiawasee and Helen Ga. Here are some observations. To my surprise, no pre ride meeting (even though these guys ride together all the time), I didn't know what route was planned and the ride leader was at times at least a half mile ahead of the pack of 7 bikes. On the way back three of them totally disappeared and headed back to Easley leaving three of us behind while a fourth did wait to ride back with us. Another gentleman riding a triked wing who specifically stated he didn't like twisties and I (with sidecar following him) were left behind going through some of the more twistie sections, if something would have happened they would have had to come looking for us when they realized we took too long to show up. The rider of the trike "thought" he heard some sound early in the ride, it was brushed off as being because it was a wing. I don't mind having a beer with lunch while on a ride, though I didn't since I figured out by then what road we would be on, but the ride leader downing a bloody Mary followed by four beers at lunch in Hiawasee and another three in Helen is irresponsible at best. All in all we rode just over 200 miles with 9 (nine) stops! Notwithstanding all that, the ride was beautiful and lunch at the Yacht Club in Hiawasee was delicious, but I'd prefer to ride with y'all anytime. Maybe I've been spoiled by Blackjack's and others meticulous planning and well organized rides, but If we are going to ride in a group I'd much prefer the VR bunch with it's willingness of members here to help each other, stick together and show some sense while riding. Kudos to y'all!!

Eileen and I had a very nice ride today. Did the Cherahola/Dragon loop. Left Helen and took headed to Robbinsville. Did the Dragon and got rained on pretty heavily but still had a nice time. The took 129 to 72 and that across to 411. 411 to 360 and then 165 all the way back to 129. Got back to Helen about 8:00 this evening. Took a few side trips also and ended up doing a total of a little over 300 miles. Wish I knew how many curves we actually went through today.

Almost anyway. We stayed in Cornelia last night but are going to be in Helen for the next couple of night before checking in to the cabin on Wednesday. We haven't gotten rained on at all but it has sure been hot. For some reason, I can't check my email from this hotel. Internet is working and I can get my email from venturerider.org but they seem to have the entire Verizon network blocked and I can't access my email through Thunderbird and even the Webmail page won't open. So...I wasn't able to check my email of all the posts for the past day and can't get any email that you may have sent. Hopefully it will work from the hotel in Helen. This is the first time I've been able to get online and have my email not work. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Late post, but Redbeard and I are heading up to Helen via 53 and the mountains on a slow, easy ride. Probably do Han's on the hill for lunch. Anyone near if ya se a scarlett 2001 and a silver 1999, it'd be us, come by and have a beer...............................

Was going with my wife to meet STEVE WAGNER yesterday to purchase one of his radiator covers for the 06 Venture. By the time we got out of Chattanooga, there was 8 bikes riding with us. It was a great day, cool early then warm later in the day. We were late as usual due to all the stops alone the way, but Steve was great at being patient waiting for us. The grill is well worth the purchase and fits and looks great on the bike. Hes a good man to do business with. Got a call from 86er alone the way to meet him there, but could not hook-up. Your number did not show upon my phone and I could not call you back, lets try in again. Lots of bikes in Helen and all alone the road. All in all it was a great ride.:cool10:

I saw a white 2nd Gen at the Helendorf Inn in Helen Georgia this weekend. Was it one of our members? I was there with the wife and without my scoot. Sorry I didn't get to meet you. Mark
