Hey folks. I'm sorry if this has been asked previously and I can't find it - - - I need to wire up a couple of LED daylight running lights (DRLs) that I've mounted to the front of my Second Gen RSV. Obviously need to get at the low beam wire of the headlamp. Can somebody please tell me the quickest way of accessing same at the headlamp. I've printed out a wiring diagram for the bike, and from what I see I need the green wire. The owner's manual that came with the bike is next-to-useless. Tells me how to change a headlamp bulb, but that's about all. Hope y'all have a great 2015. Riding weather down-under is perfect. Warm days and 14 hours of daylight - gotta love that!

I'm a RSV 2007 and I would like to replace my original headlamp by a more efficient headlight. Please give me your suggestion of replacement. Louis Quebec, Canada

My low beam on the driver side went out, but still have high beam. Replaced the headlamp and all is fine for 24 hours then the same low beam goes out. Being that that the Passenger side both hi and low works I tested both the old and the new lamp in the Passenger side and yep both the low beams are out on the old and recently new one. I then put the good one from the passenger side and put it into the Driver side and the Driver side now has both low and high beam. I can see why the low beam on the old headlamp go out after nearly 17 years but why would the brand new headlamp low bean go out within 24 hours. If there is a short wouldn't the fuse blow instead of the headlamp low beam? I now that one possibility would be that the low beam on the new one might be defective. I sure would like to know other possible reasons. Thanks Brian.

This is one of the strangest things I've seen happen to a headlamp. It's on the Harley, not the RSV. We left the house on both bikes at 3ish on Saturday with no damage (I know this because I personally cleaned the windshield and lights on both bikes before we took off), and came home at 7ish to find that this had happened. No signs of a rock hit or any other kind of impact at all from anything, and no real change in temperature extremes. It's actually a really beautiful spider web looking pattern, and it's cracked completely through the full depth of the glass. The only thing I can imagine is that it's a stress fracture that's been building since we had the new lights installed at the dealership over 2 years ago. Just thought I'd post this since it's such a pretty picture of the damage!

I wanna upgrade the headlights on my Ram Pickup. (01) I figure the members may have some good advice on what the brightest / best headlamp upgrade would be. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

I just installed my headlamp bulb with a Silver Star Ultra. After install, low beam was dim but high beam was super bright. Now I get the headlamp message on display. After having it in for a week the low beam is not on at all but works on high beam. This morning low beam was on and very bright for a few minutes then went off. High beam still works fine. Did not have any issues with the other unknown bulb that was installed from PO I was surprised to see the wattage to be 55/100 with no name or numbers on bulb just the words not for use in Germany. This is the old bulb. Do you think the Silve Star is defective or my scooter just didnt like me changing out a perfectly good headlamp? I would really like to run with the Silver Star as it is much brighter looking. Maybe with some of your suggestions I can get it to work. Thank you for all of the support this site provides! Bob

I have been having problems with the audio system intermittently locking up. Volume would freeze or error would come up etc. The dealer had it for four weeks looking for the problem. Changed the mpu, controller cb etc all to no avail. Today while I was installing handlebar riser spacers I split the fairing and removed the headlamp assembly. There it was. The harness for the audio was pinched under the headlamp adjusting bolt. I didn't split the harness open to see how badly the wires are crushed. I just unpinched the harness. If I still have problems I will ask the dealer to replace it. Hope these pictures help if anyone else is having similar issues. Mike

Hi all, just got a 83 Venture xvz12 and have some headlamp issues. Somewhere down the line someone jumped the headlamp power wire directly to the headlamp. All I have is lowbeam and the icon on the display is lit up and a flashing warning lite. I suspect the Reserve lighting unit may be bad, I have battery voltage going to it at the green/red wire if I remember correctly. Is there a way to test this unit or bypass it? What exactly does this unit do? The manual does not seem to be a wealth of info here. Any other suggestions? Any input greatly appreciated, thanks, Neil.

We purchased a visor for the front headlamp on our 2005 Midnight Venture but I don't quite see how the assembly comes out of the fairing. I don't have a service manual yet and don't want to break anything. The passing lamp visors installed without problems but I can't get the headlamp to release and there must be a retaining fastener on the backside. I did remove the allen head bolt under the lamp and nothing is loose. Thanks, Rob

Put on a new set of rear shoes today, and when I just took it for a test drive, my headlamp is not working...however, my high beam indicator stays on no matter where my switch is...any ideas?

Goldwing so kicks Venture @ss in Cool Headlight department!!! Yes I bought an 2008 Venture and choked on the cassette player (Soon to be modded cubby hole). Every time I see the Venture Headlamp it reminds me of the 4 or 5 Headlamps I replaced on 1970-80 Autos over the years.... (now I'm 45). Does anybody make a cool replacement???

I just had the dealership install OEM passing lamps on my '06 RSTD. I got home and wanted to show some friends and none of the head lamps were on. An investigation found the headlamp fuse blown. There was a spare 15 amp fuse, and I put that on. The main headlamp came on, and I discovered the passing lamps were toggled off. When I toggled them on, the fuse blew immediately. My question: should the combination of headlamp and passing lamps work with a 15A fuse? I have the halogen version ( STR-4NK35-10-01 ) of the passing lamps and the OEM headlight. Of course, the dealership didn't return any of the installation or operation information that came with the lamps so I don't know the current draw. They were working at the dealership but were dead when I got home. Maybe something broke loose and is grounding?
