  1. Ok....I just got back from the printers and ordered more VR.org windshield decals. I ordered black and silver, as they ar the official colors of VR.org. Please PM me with what color you want, and how many. And also let me know what your site name is, so I make sure you get what you order! Let's keep Bill and Brad out of this because they don't have the time on their hands like I do. The decals will be $3.00 each and .50 cents for mailing.
  2. Does anyone use the gloves alone, without the vest/jacket, etc.? I was thinking about hippo hands too. My hands are the one part of me that gets cold beyond the comfort range that is acceptable to me. I was trying to imagine running the cord from the gloves to ??? I think normally they plug into the jacket/vest, right? I'm looking for suggestions.
  3. Hi All, It seems I get a lot of wind on my hands and am looking for ideas to correct it, Any ideas? I have a 85 royale if that matters. Thanks
  4. ....for my '86, the headlight plug and the handlebar nut that holds it to the triple tree. I would gladly pay to get me hands on these

  6. I'm a newb, just wanted to say thanks to y'all already for the tremendous help this site has been before and after recently purchasing my 99 Venture. I'm in love with this bike. Still have a few things to work out and figure out, but I'm a tinkerer, and not shy about getting my hands dirty. I'm in the process of fighting the baffles out of my Bubs (full length) with PB Blaster at work in the garage I came in to search for some tips on here. Thanks again!! And, Yes, I'll post some pics soon.
  7. that I may be going to work as a salesman at our local MC dealership... IF you are a praying person please pray that I will get this job IF it is Gods will...This would be a dream job for me.. The $$$ is good but not important at this point in my life, it's finding something that I love to do... I love MC and people associated with them so this could be a great fit.. I have been semi-retired but I find that I have to much time on my hands, I've worked all my life since 13 so it's hard to go from working to not doing much.. so I need something that will keep me busy...thanks in advance for your prayers and support
  8. Just did what looks like a 2 minute job in my owners manual. After about 15 minutes of what the %^$#! I came to this board. Thanks to all who posted before and thanks for the proceedure for cracking the fairing. Next time I will get a person with little tiny doll hands to help!! Thanks again. Steve
  9. My mother is in the ICU at Ruby Memorial Hospital today. The doctors are searching for possible infection causing her symptoms. So far they haven't found it. At this point it's completely in the Lord's hands.
  10. Cruising down the beachfront Sunday at about 25mph. Let go of the left grip to button my jacket when we hit a very slight bump. The front wheel started slapping left&right. Got very severe as I got both hands on it and tried to steady it. It damned near tore my elbows outta their sockets before I could brake it to a near stop and regain control. It has done this very slightly several times before since I had the Hannigan w/rake kit put on. Front tire is fine, so is pressure. Never have this issue at speed and only a hint at a wobble when I have both hands firmly affixed. Other than keeping both hands on the grips at all times, any other suggestions?
  11. A lawyer and a senior citizen are sitting next to each other on a long flight. The lawyer is thinking that seniors are so dumb that he could get one over on them easily. So, the lawyer asks if the senior would like to play a fun game. The senior is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists, saying that the game is a lot of fun...."I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5.00. Then you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500.00," he says. This catches the senior's attention and, to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game. The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the Earth to the Moon?" The senior doesn't say a word, but reaches into his pocket, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer. Now, it's the senior's turn. He asks the lawyer, "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?" The lawyer uses his laptop to search all references he can find on the Net. He sends E-mails to all the smart friends he knows; all to no avail. After an hour of searching, he finally gives up. He wakes the senior and hands him $500.00. The senior pockets the $500.00 and goes right back to sleep. The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the senior up and asks, "Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?" The senior reaches into his pocket, hands the lawyer $5.00, and goes back to sleep.
  12. This is our little Rosalee Athena. Her mom had the same amount of hair when she was born. She was 8lbs 6 oz 20". It was tough leaving but I'll get my hands on her again. Margaret
  13. All I want to know is...was this a member of VentureRiders?
  14. For repairs. I've been dealing with bad gas milage for a couple years now. I've had everything fuel related checked, synced, cleaned etc. I've read about these coils going bad on occassion. Namely the number three coil. So this summer I bought a set of coils from a low milage crashed RSV for $40. I'm in the process of replacing the #3 coil. Has anyone done this themselves? If so, how the heck do you get your hands in there to replace it? I've torn up my hands to get the old one out and I almost have the new one in, but I'm having a hard time getting anything in there to tighten the screws. I've pulled the right side rear exhaust off. I moved the two metal tubes out of the way. But there is not much room for my paws. I've gone at it from the top and underneath. Any suggestions?
  15. Just discovered that the Baron BA7430 riser spacers won't work with the RSTD because of the speedometer. Can anyone recommend risers that will work with the speedometer, my hands and back are hurting. Thanks!
  16. Can someone tell me why yamaha made clutch and brake levers to fit a gorilla hand? The reach on these levers is rediculously far with no adjustment! And my hands are not small, I'm 6'-0", 190#. Does anyone else agree? Does anyone have a solution?
  17. Anyone here have a centre stand on their 2nd Gen RSV? Does it get in the way of anything? Easy oil drain access, ground clearances etc? I might be able to get my hands on one, and like the thought of having the bike in an upright position when doing light maintenance on the bike. thanks in advance..
  18. Just got back from a 3000 mile trip from KC to Florida. Encountered weather from 33 degrees, rain and also 85 degrees. The Tourmaster heated jacket is the single best purchase I have made for my bike. I could ride at 33 degrees for long periods of time and be fine. It extends the riding season by 2 months for me. My only limit is the road conditions (Don't bike under 32). I think the jacket with the collar is best. The heat on the inside of my arms really helps to keep me warm. I would not have thought that. The jacket also allows the use of Tourmaster gloves which is likely my next purchase. I have heated grips, but I am not very impressed. I use light gloves, but the wind over my hands just zaps my heat in my hands. I have added Hippo hands which work great to keep wind off my hands and also the rain. The only thing I don't like is that they are awkward to use and get the hands in and out while riding.(Scratching my face, moving my sheild etc). The jacket is awesome. In my opinion a must have. BTW- I did run down my battery by having driving lights on accidently with my vest. These 2 in combination appear to be too much for the electrical system. I was in a rain storm when the bike stopped running. Wasn't a couple minutes before a fellow biker came to my aid with his truck and gave me a jump. Was really great.
  19. Here is my cold weather contribution... Don't know why it showed up so blurry here. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/NewFromYamaha1.gif Took me a while to make it. Too much time on my hands. I need to get out and ride!!
  20. OK, ok, I was just joking about the plow and snow tires, but I wanted to get your attention. I have been investigating "Hippo Hands" and think they are viable solution to cold hands, but wanted to see if anyone has feedback about them. Some feedback is the wind puts some pressure on the clutch and brake levers when you're on the highway. Other people have said they are "the best thing since sliced bread". The ones I need are $73.00 so I just don't want to throw the money away if they aren't going to do the trick. I'm also curious about any quick removable insulated chaps. Not the leather kind, but maybe a snow suit type material with some down feathers and maybe some velcro straps that can be easily-on/easily-off. Any feedback would be really appreciated as the cold weather is rapidly approaching. Thanks, Woody
  21. What kind of gloves does every one use to keep your hands warm, but most importantly, keep your hands dry in a torrential down pour? I rode in a hard rain with a pair of leather gloves with Thinsulate and my hands were soaked and cold. There has got to be something better out there. I would like to hear some reviews and opinions before I buy another pair that doesn't do their job.
  22. I wanted to see how effective the electric windshield and the pop out side louvers do in -10C weather Took the scoot for a 50 km ride, I was impressed with the wind protection but 50kms would it max.I was wearing Felt jeans and a Joe Rocket jacket with the inner lining. Most of the wind I noticed was blowing on the pelvic area. I should have wore my ski-doo suit The hands got cold even with my Ski-doo gloves .Im going to get the Suzuki Storm Hand Guards that attach to the handle bars. Now I have to get a Block Heater and Studs onto the tires and Training Wheels
  23. Alright, I'll throw this out here and see what peculates up. For the past couple of months my left elbow area has been acting up. Not sure if it is the joint or muscle. Clutching sucks and is painful. Picking a cup/sugarbowl of the cabinet shelf is uncomfortable at best and flexing my arm after having it in a steady position (like riding) for a while definitely gets my attention. I can't quit work (duh!), I can't switch hands, I've tried a tennis brace, auto clutch might be nice but won't make the problem go away , advil doesn't do anything and chiropractic adjustments don't help either. Anyone had this and what did you do to make it go away? Thanks!
