  1. As I have posted I became a Grandpa for the first time New Years Eve and I have not yet seen my new Granddaughter. I have been sick and was planning on driving down to my sons house this Saturday to see Her and watch football. Went to the Doctors today and they did a chest x-ray and found that I have a lung infection now and Doctor said NO to seeing my Granddaughter. He did say I could go down there IF I wore a mask, rubber gloves, did not pick up the baby, and did not get close enough to breathe near her. Now what new Grandpa doesn't want to hold their new Grandchild? So got new meds and have to go back to Doc in a week and see if I get the OK to greet my Granddaughter properly. So for next weekend. P.S. For those of you on Medicare (like me) and have not refilled a prescription yet after the 1st of the year you may be in for quite a shock. One of my meds that I have to take went from a co-pay of $1.04 to $51.79. (before the 1st without insurance it was only $35.00 for 60 pills now with the NEW government improved pills they are $275.00 without insurance) Pharmacy said it's been a nightmare since the 1st because of new government guidelines on certain meds.
  2. I want to preface this with a disclaimer... I'm not anti-helmet, I am pro-freedom. The government really should stay out of our private lives... nearly every state in the US has an ABATE. Please consider joining them. From ABATE of Arizona's Masterlink newsletter: ====================== Editor’s Note: Well folks, you had to know that it was gonna happen. The safety nanny bureaucrats are once again leaning toward a national helmet mandate and this is just the beginning. First they tried to do it through the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), but we pointed out that they were basing their findings on studies on a mere SIX motorcycle accidents. They are, without a doubt, the experts when it comes to most air and ground transportation - but their ignorance was showing when it came to motorcycles. Since that end-around run failed, the CDC picked up the ball and has been running full speed toward the end zone. But, like nearly government agency that you could name, they stepped on their shoestrings while performing an early celebration before crossing the line. GW Peterson with ABATE of Virginia was searching for a breakdown of which part of the body was injured during motorcycle fatalities (percentage of head trauma vs. chest trauma vs. abdomen etc.) He could not find anything so he contacted our friends at the CDC. Below is the response from the Director of the Office of Statistics and Programming. I do not have to point out to this esteemed body the obvious question for which the response calls. Please read the response below: Hi Mr. Peterson, Thanks for your inquiry. We do not have Motorcyclist injury deaths tabulated by body region/part. With deaths, there are usually multiple injuries and the primary body part affected is often difficult to determine. You might search the literature to see if anything is published by body region for motorcyclist deaths. I did a search using http://www.safetylit.org/ but did not see any articles surface on motorcyclist deaths by body part affected. There are public use multiple-cause-of-death files that are available upon request if you wanted to analyze those data. If you are interested in requesting those files, let me know and I will put you in contact with one of my colleagues at the National Center for Health Statistics. I am also checking one other resource to see if she knows of any published articles on this topic. I will let you know what I find out. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. J. Lee Annest, Ph.D., M.S. Director, Office of Statistics and Programming National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, CDC 4770 Buford Hwy NE, MS - F64 Atlanta, GA 30341 Editor’s Note: So, while the CDC is now the federal government’s self-appointed expert, they can not answer the simplest of questions, on which their studies should have been based. We have seen this before and will continue to see it in the future. They are banking on an old adage that - if you tell a lie enough times, the public will soon begin to believe it as truth. As you well know, the CDC is not the first government agency to pull such a dirty trick. We have seen that from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for years. The quote from the NHTSA statistician, Umesh Shankar, was "yes, the numbers are inaccurate, but they are consistently inaccurate", or something very close to that. They admit that their data is flawed but they continue to preach it as gospel. Believe it folks, there is a big push for a federal helmet mandate coming our way as sure as the monsoon rains in Arizona. Membership in ABATE of Arizona is soon going to be a necessity if we are to have half of a chance in defeating such a mandate in Arizona. I urge all of our members to make the effort to recruit as many new members as possible in the coming months - like your freedom depended on it - BECAUSE IT DOES.
  3. Im having a few Brewskis !! It true of the saying Its Cheaper to Keeper most of you know Im separated And the ^*$%*^%$^%$ Government is really Screwing me , thats all Im going to say:bang head::bang head:
  4. With the continuing adverse publicity the TSA has been receiving, the Public Relations Director has implimented a new program which she hopes will put them in a more favorable light with the public. So, for the first time ever, a Government entity is now printing pin up calander. Below is Miss May.
  5. Unbelievable, Oregon will spend millions to run this near minuscule revenue stream. This is what gives government a bad name. http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/electric-motorcycles-if-they-dont-get-you-one-way-theyll-get-you-anyway.htm
  6. A cyber attack by hackers has forced Canada's Finance and Treasury departments offline. According to CBC, unattributed sources in senior government circles are saying the attacks were traced to servers in China. The attack comes amid considerable international controversy about Chinese cyber-espionage and “Chinese government hackers”. Although CBC said it could not determine whether the attackers were Chinese or simply other nationals who used China-based servers, CTV television said they were "Chinese government hackers". It cited sources as saying the Canadian Security Intelligence Service has advised government officials not to name China as the origin of the attacks, or even discuss the matter. Chinese espionage has become a "major problem" for Canada and other countries, a senior government official told CTV. Current information is that the hackers were successful in attacking the computers of government officials. It’s not known whether the hackers were able to access public personal tax records or other sensitive personal data. Internet access to both government departments was shut down immediately the attack was detected. Official statements are that “no data was compromised” in relation to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. CTV’s own reports are rather brief. Citing previous efforts by alleged Chinese hackers to break in to Indian government computers and steal Canadian passport applications, CTV states: It's unclear how many attempts have been made to break into the finance department's computer network. Analysis In practice, the information provided is all a bit too simple. The only working statement is the statement that the CBC, which is after all a news agency, not a counterintelligence unit, couldn’t determine the exact source of the attack. There’s a surprise. In view of the fact that any cyber attack can be launched from anywhere by a mildly enthusiastic high school kid, and is extremely unlikely to be located in the nation of origin for obvious reasons, the Yellow Peril rhetoric is more than likely a bit misplaced. China is quite capable of doing better than a clumsy attempted burglary of data which doesn’t necessarily have a lot of intrinsic espionage value, particularly on such a high profile scale. There are other reasons for not instantly assuming there are reds under the Canadian Feds, too. Organized crime in China isn’t entirely unknown, and it is perfectly likely that agencies carrying useful identity theft quality information would be targeted for people smuggling purposes. A criminal organization, or several, wouldn’t be too worried about embarrassing the Chinese government, in fact, may have decided the current cyber Cold War and endless media speculation on the subject was the perfect environment for doing just that. I know I crossed the line again
  7. For a couple years I've been blaming it on iron deficient blood, on vitamins, dieting, and a dozen other maladies. But now I've found out the real reason. It's because we're overworked. The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 33 million to do the work of the entire nation. 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work. 29 million employed by the federal government. This leaves 19 million to do the work. Four million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work. Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work. There are 188,000 ill and in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work. Now, there are 11,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And you're sitting there playing around on VENTURERIDER.ORG!!!!!
  8. So, I haven't been on this forum in awhile because I was distracted with the newest toy in the stable.... Compliments of our insane government offering a tax credit for Electric Vehicles, it was "free". I rationalize taking advantage of govt. giveaway by not allowing the government to have the $6500 this would have cost. In other words, it's $6500 they didn't get to waste.... It's super quiet, need to get some fake pipes going! Will do 25mph, which is actually quite fast enough for a golf cart.

  10. I have read allot of threads on here about helmets , and not too much talk about helmet ratings. if you wear a dot helmet you are not really very well protected ! I have even seen allot of helmets being sold at bike swap meets and a dot sticker given to you to sick it on the back of the helmet. thats great if you want to wear a 10.00 helmet but you can expect your brains to be sweep up off the pavement with your bike if you go down hard. I say if you have a 10.00 head ware a 10.00 helmet . if you really want to be safe look for a helmet with a Snell rating. see this article for the reasons. Snell Vs. Dot DOT sets minimum standards for helmets, The Snell Memorial Foundation is a private not-for-profit organization that sets voluntary standards for motorcycle helmets, bicycle helmets and auto racing helmets, as well as other kinds of protective headgear. Snell standards are the world's toughest. wearing a dot helmet is like being covered by government health care , do your really want to trust your brain to the government ? so if you decide to wear a helmet at the very least make an educated decision and get a good one. your family may thank you later, if god forbid you ever go down. "I still believe in freedom and cant stand being told what i can and cant do (especially by the government) but remember a government powerful enough to give you every thing you need also has the power to take it away !"
  11. Planning a tour through South Western Ontario next week. I'll be somewhere between Windsor, Brantford, Orangeville and The Bruce. My focus is to rally small meat markets\butchers together in trying to change the way our provincial government is handling the inspection system. I suppose it could be seen as a holiday and I kind of like that idea, but I will be focused on this issue, as change is drastically needed in order to save businesses such as ours. Trouble is, most guys feel that they are all alone and have to deal with the government on a one to one basis, so I plan to change that thought somewhat,, maybe even start a new association. So if you know of a small meat market or butcher, let me know, I'll try to pay them a visit.
  12. Alert for any of our Pennsylvania contractors (including general contractors, painters, plumbers, electricians, possibly landscapers, and others! You better do a search for "New PA contractor law". There is very disturbing requirements that will take effect THIS July (09). While PA needed this kind of registration for contractors, they don't need to have government tell them how they can run their business to this extent and take away safeguards for contractors (against non-paying consumers) only and leave those same safeguards in place for consumers. This isn't right, and it's discrimination against legitimate contractors! This will effect all our PA contractor members and is another example of government not thinking things through completely before passing something (just like the minibike/atv ban because of lead in the motors and batteries). I would suggest you study this law and see how adversely it will affect you and how you do business and the risks involved with this new poorly thought out law, then contact your officials and work to get some of these items changed to be fair. Go here for more info on this upcoming law (as well as other sites you'll find with a search): http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press.aspx?id=3993 and click on the "Home Improvement Consumer Act" text near the top of the article.
