Hi folks, haven't been on like I would like, dont have good internet where the boat is docked. Anyway, looking at heading south from Masachusetts at the end of October, and was thinking of going by Gettysburg, have always wanted to go and it is on the way, figure I would getr there on a Friday evening, visit the park on Saturday, and then continue on my trip south to Florida on Sunday. Anybody close by that would like to get togather, would be fun to meet up with some folks, and see the the park, always more fun to do something like this with friends. This is just pre-planning, it is hard for me to plan ahead, leaving Mass with the boat on the 10th of October, and a lot depends on how the trip south goes, and then I have to get the bosses suburban south with a loaded u-haul, and then............I fly back up north and get my bike. Anybody interested let me know, and we can start planning a get-togather.

Who's up for a ride to Gettysburg? We're thinking about September 4th but that is Labor Day weekend. That could be good or bad. Contemplating the same diner we had last year's M&E. Let me know alternative dates if that doesn't work. We can't do August at all or September 25th.

I already have cabin fever. If I organize another Gettysburg Spring Meet & Eat, who's in? Had a great time last year. Would love to see everyone again! If you weren't there, Sleeperhawk's Mechanic took some great pics: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Gettysburg%2020090418/?start=480 It's real early but I need to start thinking about it if I'm going to do it.

I will try again soon. Maybe in the Fall?? We'll see. Hope to get together with y'all at other events in the meantime. Hope all is well!! Randy

Last minute thought. Maybe you have a good area to ride. Me and a buddy are planning on riding Thursday and Friday leaving from Fredericksburg Va. We are about 3 hours from Gettysburg or about 3 plus hours from Seneca Rocks. We have been around Snowshoe and Cass area. We have been to the bride in West Va as well. In Pa we have been to the Lancaster area and been through Gettysburg. Anyone have any good loops, roads or sites to see in one of those general areas. We figure it will be cooler in the mountains. Did anyone go to Bike Week in Gettysburg last week? I was on my bike coming home from Chryslers at Carlisle on Saturday (boy was it a hot one) and saw a couple 2nd gen Ventures running around. Gettysburg was packed with bikes, I would say thousands, mostly Harleys of course. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Also they are having a motorcyle show in Carlisle July 25-27, is anyone planning on going? Here is the link: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/bikefest/ I think they are having a demo ride for all Yamaha Star Edition bikes.

I would like to put together a ride for next year for riders in and around southern PA. I have two teenaged kids that I will trust home alone for one night so this ride would be a two day with an overnight somewhere. Being new to the touring world, what do you consider to be a good ride? Do you like to just hop on the scoot and ride? Or, do you like touristy stops along the way? I was looking at a ride that would go from York, PA through Gettysburg, PA through Catoctin Mountain, MD to Harper's Ferry, WV to Luray, VA on Skyline Drive. Riding with no stops that's an easy 175 mile ride. With stops in Gettysburg and someplace like Charlestown, WV it could be a full day. What makes a good ride for you?
