  1. I have been spending my vacation in Germany and Holland and so far having a great time. They sure know how to kick off Christmas here early with hoiliday drinks and food. I will most likely gain back all the weight I have lost over the past couple months but how can you say no to all this good food etc. Quite a few people here are still riding regardless of snow or cold. Holland even has 1st response Motorcycle ambulances. The idea is that a motorcycle can get on the scene faster and get a head start on initial care getting the victim preped and ready to move by the time the larger response vehicles arrive. Weather does not seem to stand in their way either. I will post pics when I return home.
  2. I know some of you folks enjoy trains so am including this one that was sent to me. On your next trip -- you may want to see this amazing site in Hamburg, Germany -- unbelievable ! ! ! ENJOY German train station Be sure to see the video at the end - This is unbelievable- I've never seen anything like it ever. Check it out, you will be amazed and please make sure to watch the video at the bottom of this e-mail to see this in action - you won't believe it. GERMAN Train Set This is the world's biggest train set, which covers 1,150 square meters (12,380 square feet), features almost six miles of track and is still not complete Twin brothers Frederick and Gerrit Braun, 41, began work on the 'Miniatur Wonderland' in 2000 The set covers six regions including America, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Germany, and the Austrian Alps The American section features giant models of the Rocky Mountains, Everglades, Grand Canyon... ..and Mount Rushmore The Swiss section has a mini-Matterhorn The Scandinavian part has a 4ft long passenger ship floating in a 'fjord' It is expected to be finished in 2014, when the train set will cover more than 1,800 square meters (19, 376 sq ft)and feature almost 13 miles of track, by which time detailed models of parts of France, Italy and the UK will have been added It comprises 700 trains with more than 10,000 carriages and wagons The longest train is 46ft long The scenery includes 900 signals, 2,800 buildings, 4,000 cars - many with illuminated headlights... ..and 160,000 individually designed figures Thousands of kilograms of steel and wood was used to construct the scenery... The 250,000 lights are rigged up to a system which mimics night and day by automatically turning them on and off The whole system is controlled from a massive high-tech nerve centre In total the set has taken 500,000 hours and more than 8 million to put together, the vast majority of which has come from ticket sales Gerrit said: "Our idea was to build a world that men, women, and children can be equally astonished and amazed in" Frederik added: "Whether gambling in Las Vegas , hiking in the Alps or paddling in Norwegian fjords - in Wunderland everything is possible" The world's biggest model train set. TALK ABOUT YOUR SECOND CHILDHOOD----- "BOYS" AND THEIR TOYS.... It comprises 700 trains with more than 10,000 carriages and wagons. The longest train is 46 ft long. The scenery includes 900 signals, 2,800 buildings, 4,000 cars - many with illuminated headlights and 200,000 individually designed figures. Thousands of kilograms of steel and wood was used to construct the scenery. The set is on display to the public and is so big that they employ more than 160 people to show visitors around their creation. 3. This is not a joke and they do sell for $600.00. They wont be able to make them fast enough--be good just to run around town. Here's a car that will get you back and forth to work on the cheap....... $600 for the car. 258 miles per gallon... Only a one seater, however. Talk about cheap transportation ......... Volkswagen's $600 car gets 258 mpg -- It looks like Ford, Chrysler and GM missed the boat again! This $600 car is no toy and is ready to be released in China next year. The single seater aero car totes VW (Volkswagen) branding. Volkswagen did a lot of very highly protected testing of this car in Germany, but it was not announced until now where the car would make its first appearance. The car was introduced at the VW stockholders meeting as the most economical car in the world. The initial objective of the prototype was to prove that 1 liter of fuel could deliver 100 kilos of travel Spartan interior doesn't sacrifice safety The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result. The body is 3.47 meters long and just 1.25 meters wide, and a little over a meter high. The prototype was made completely of carbon fiber and is not painted to save weight. The power plant is a one cylinder diesel positioned ahead of the rear axle and combined with an automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior. Safety was not compromised as the impact and roll-over protection is comparable to the GT racing cars. The Most Economical Car in the World will be on sale next year: Better than Electric Car – 258 miles/gallon: IPO 2010 in Shanghai This is a single-seated car From conception to production: 3 years; the company is headquartered in Hamburg , Germany .. Will be selling for 4000 Yuan, equivalent to US$ 600.. Gas tank capacity = 1.7 gallons Speed = 62 – 74.6 Miles/hour Fuel efficiency = 258 miles/gallon Travel distance with a full tank = 404 miles

    To VR Members in Germany

Unfortunately, I've never been to Germany to get back to my roots, so I just wanted to pass on a note... My father told me about a place called 'Henninger Brau' in Frankfurt, and apparently I'm related to them. I have a few wine glasses from there, and a few different cans/bottles of beer dated in the 70's when my father was there, but I'd love to get some more stuff! So, if you're ever stop in for a bier, feel free to pick something up with the Henninger name, and I will buy it from you... Thanks! Patrick Henninger
  5. Hi Guys, first I should introduce myself; my name is Steffen Hanne and I live in Germany near Berlin. My bike is a RSV Model 1999, newly bought in 2001. A friend of mine has also a Royal Star Venture with the whining clutch basket. I found the thread with the Yamaha Technical Service Bulletin M2002013 and the text posted by Rick Butler (thanks for that). The problem is, that the Yamaha Dealer and also Yamaha Germany didnt know anything about their own TSB (or didnt want to know :-( ) My question is, if anyone here is able to send me the TSB in the original (PDF-Scan) via PM? That would be great!! Greetings from Germany
  6. Hello my friends. Yes, I'm in Germany visiting my parents. My dad survived the last 12 month and I'm so thankful to all of your prayers and well wishes. Last Friday my parents celebrated there belated 50th wedding anyversary with 50 family members and friends. Al and I thought it would be wonderful to fly over and suprise my mom and dad. It was very emotional as you all could imagine. I had told my dad that I was a little worried to suprise him, because of his heart, he replied , even if I had died I would have died a happy man. Well, that turned on everybodies waterfaucets. :crying: However, he really ment it. I have only one more day and it's back to the US. Time sure flies when you have fun. I miss Al so much, but It is hard to leave your family behind too. Anyway, it was great to see my dad in good health again. Still a little shaky but otherwise ok. Can't wait to be back. Tally ho

  10. My friends, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a great start in the new year. As for me, well here is my story For months I was talking about nothing else than our trip to Germany. I had not spend christmas with my family for over 23 years and Alan had never been there, so it was even more exciting for him. However, as it turned out, NOTHING happened the way we imagined it. My parents big 50th wedding aniversary party was canceled. My dad is in the hospital in a koma, awaiting a tripple by pass (the second time) IF he recovers. I never had a chance to even talk to him, but I wispered in his ears that I would come back to see him when he comes home. Christmas eve without him was not the same. Than Alan and I both got the flu. Not what you want when you an vacation. To make matters even worse, my best friend's husband (age 51) past away two weeks prior to our arrival. She did'n want to spoil my christmas with her news, so she waited to tell me until I got there. It hit me like a hammer, we've been friends for 20 years. Needless to say , there was no party either. We did managed to do some side seeing and Alan loved driving on the Autobahn ( no speed limid). This is the short version of our trip to Germany. Nothing but sadness all around. We are so happy to be back home. Yeap, and the new year is not starting off very good either. I'm sitting in a hotel somewhere in Hammond Indiana for two days, waiting for my truck to be repaired (needs an aircompressor), and that on my first load out. I sure hope the rest of the year will be better. ON A LIGHTER NOTE Alan and I spend the New Years at the casino. He won $1200 and I $2000. It sure comes in handy for not going to work the last two weeks. So, that's it, I wish I had some thing better to tell you all. Please keep my dad in your prayers. I wish you all a wonderful and happy New Year Al & Renate
  11. It has been a while since I had time to log in. Driving around the clock, non stop. This is the first day I have had a few minutes to relax. Alan and I are getting ready to leave for Germany tomorrow. Two weeks away from the truck. Yea !!!! I did not wanted to leave without wishing all of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

    Just Sold It !!

I sold my 86VR on eBay yesterday for Buy Now price. The strange thing is, the man who bought it lives in Hamburg, Germany & is having it crated/shipped to germany via land or sea. I had a post about a fellow in MN, who wanted "Proof of Possession", but this guy said we are both members with 100% feedback over many years & that was good enough. He called, from Germany, & asked a bunch of good questions, then bought it. I had $500.00 deposit within the hour. He bought it 6 hours before end of auction. The scoot is in good shape, looks decent, & fair price.....but sold & shipped to the-other-side-of-the-planet? WOW! I NEVER , NEVER would have expected this one.
