  1. I'm sorry, but I have to vent... I bought a pair of Gerbing heated gloves on November 4. It has been colder here this year than the last couple of years, and I don't want to stop riding yet. The first few times I wore them the temps were in the 40s and they performed fine (my non-heated gloves also do fine at those temps). Well the temperature keeps getting colder, and that's why I paid huge bucks for Gerbing heated gloves. Heated gloves really are the trick. They keep your fingers warm, BUT I started noticing my thumb on my right hand gets freezing cold while the rest of that hand and my left hand are still warm. I mentioned this to another hardy soul at my work who is still riding. He said he had a similar problem with the gloves he bought at Harley Davidson. He took it back and they gave him another. He was back riding in minutes. Well, I paid big mucho bucks for these gloves. They don't work properly. I'll go this evening and get it replaced like my Harley friend did. I only ride 12 miles to work, and the thumb in question gets cold in that short distance. Dixie Custom Cycles in Clinton TN. where I bought the gloves is about 30 miles from work, and my thumb felt like it was frostbit by the time I got there. It's worth it though thinks I,as now I'm back to where warm gloves are sold and they will make it right. I tell the lady there what the problem is and she gives me a look like I had farted or something. I explain it more slowly and finally she takes the glove and plugs it into her display stand (which is a smart thing to do that way she can see that it's not heating as much as the rest of the glove). The problem is she puts the glove on and it feels warm. I try it and it feels warm to me too. It's 68 degrees in the store so everything in the store feels warm. Now why would a sane person (I am sane, but you'll have to take my word on this) ride 20 miles out of his way to have a defective product replaced if it was not defective? Don't answer that yet, let me finish. Ok the only suggestion she has is that I send the offending glove in to Gerbing to "have it rewired". I offered another fix. You could give me a replacement then you can send it off for god knows how long to "have it rewired". She gives me another look like I farted in her showroom. I told her the reason I paid way too much for a pair of heated gloves was so I could avoid situations like this. She said Gerbing is a good company. They will make it right. So I email Gerbing. This is getting way too long, so I'll try to condense the rest of it. I got one email from Heather and one from Carrie basically telling me to mail the glove in they will "look at it" and in 4 weeks (maybe) they'll send it back. I tried to explain that I bought the gloves for cold weather riding, and that it's very cold RIGHT NOW, but that doesn't seem to register with them. So in the last email I just sent. I basically told them that the only thing I could do is complain on the internet. I know some of you on here like Gerbing and that's the reason I chose that brand. I wish now that I had went to the Harley shop where the guy at work got his. It may be the same brand, but at least they did care enough to replace it for him.
  2. I recently purchased an 07 RSV, will it operate 2 gerbing heated jacket liners and 2 pair of gloves?
  3. The title says it all........ this was on my way into work yesterday..... burrrrrrrrrrr. Gotta love a heated jacket liner and gloves from Gerbing. Now to figure out how to keep my eyeglasses from fogging up as I only have a 1/2 helmet.
  4. I was wondering if the charging system can hold up to a pair of Gerbing heated jacket liners? Anyone using 2 of these jackets with their RSV? comments?
  5. 38034.1 Looking to buy a heated jacket liner and gloves, did a search, but did not see a comparison of : warm & safe heated clothing or gerbing heated clothing So has anyone had both , if so, which brand and why... Regards
  6. After riding in the snow in Montana in June, I noticed my Gerbing jacket had a split seam under one arm. I knew others had the same issue and Gerbing fixed the problem so I wasn't worried. Should have been. Though the jacket had relatively few hours of use, it was out of warranty and they refused to fix the problem. Please understand. If I had mistreated the jacket, I would feel differently. My observation led me to believe that the seam around the arms on the inside of the jacket is very poorly done. This is a quality control issue and Gerbing should take care of it. I had a seamstress friend take care of it. She also stitched the other arm to prevent it from coming apart as well. If you have a Gerbing jacket, check out those seams. The material has a tendancy to fray once the seams parts. If I had it to over again, I think I would be looking for something besides Gerbing. Gerbing & Widder Comparison

Just thought I'd share my personal findings by using Gerber & Widder gear: GERBING GLOVES Nice fit. Get "moist" too quick (after you take them off, ok while riding). Gotta have the dual controller to control heat to the gloves properly. MUST use an over glove in wet weather - these are all leather and will really get water logged. That happened to me 2 yrs ago. But note that the heat kept going into the glove so I had "warm water" all around my hands. WIDDER GLOVES Fantastic. They are also mostly covered with a weather proof material. The palms are leather. However, Widder does not make a dual controller so the heat control feeds both jacket and gloves. But Widder has something right because not only do my hands stay warm, they never get "moist". WIDDER CONTROLLER Difficult to use. It is not easy to attach so that the control readings are easily seen. I've tried strapping it to my leg which helps a bit. No LED like on the Gerbing. GERBING CONTROLLER Really nice. You can get a holder with a strong clip that goes right onto the jacket. It has 2 indicator lights telling you about feed to either the jacket or gloves. Very easy to change temps without looking. WIDDER JACKET Fantastic. Nice and warm with a great fit. It is actually a vest. If you want sleeves you buy Widder "Arm Chaps". They fit nice and snug with easy straps that allow for keeping that heat close to your body. GERBING JACKET Fantastic. Good warmth coverage. Fit is critical. BIGGEST WIDDER DRAWBACK Each connection is dependent on proper alignment - it is easy to reverse polarity. Bad thing. BIGEST GERBING DRAWBACK My original Gerbing had onsistently blown fuses. This current jacket is only 3k miles old and so far is OK. We'll see how further testing goes. SO FAR --- I'd go with Widder because it is more reliable and better waterproofing on the gloves. CLOTHING LAYERS Layering. I still like to use a light pile liner or a nice Windblocker pull over ON TOP of the electric gear. Why? It keeps it close to your body. So here are my layers: 1. VERY THIN T Shirt - I like the new mil spec thin udershirts 2. T NECK OR LONG SLEEVE T SHIRT 3. ELECTRIC JACKET 4. LIGHT PILE LINER 5. GORE TEX DARIEN OR ROADCRAFTER This allows me maximum flexibility for the wide range we encounter here in this screwed up weather area. No. My flexibility is not affected at all. And remember, you can always get cooler -- YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WARMER UNLESS YOU GOT THE GEAR WITH YOU!! MORE TO COME. IMHO, DREBBIN
  8. About a week ago I purchased my Gerbing heated gloves. The didnt seen a warm as they should so I guessed I had a problem. I called the Harley dealer that I bought them and found they were now on back order. Later in the day I recieved a call from a nice young lady at Gerbing. Her name is Sarah. I have never been treated so good in my life. No questions asked she told me that she was gonna UPS a new pair to me and send a call tag for for the pick up of the other ones. She also asked me about how the fit was. I did feel I got ones that were a little to big so she sent the one size smaller. I have heard nothing but good about that company but it takes a problem and how they deal with it to show them shine!!! Besides having the best warranty they are a pleasure to deal with. Oh and one more thing-- She sent the new ones over night and said it was because it is cold and I need them now. Hows that for customer service!!!
