  2. I am looking for help from our Venture rider friends in Georgia. We just bought our first American Mastiff Puppy. There is a family in Georgia that purchased theirs one month earlier. The family has 5 children ages 17-3. Just found out the mom has had surgery and will be out of work for at least 8 weeks and the Dad just had his knee cap dislocated and is looking at surgery and unable to work at this time. Our American Mastiff friends are looking to help out by donating gift cards, money and presents for the kids. I need to know what grocery stores, clothing stores, ext.. are in Georgia. The family is having to get rid of their new Mastiff puppy which is heartbreaking for the family, If my family can help Corie and Adam give their kids a better Christmas they will be so much appreciative. Thank you Georgia Friends. God Bless Tinystar
  3. whats the weather like in Georgia these days?. I'm riding up to the Merritt pecan Company on Tuesday, to pick up some goodies,:mo money: for Christmas. Its located in Weston Georgia
  4. Leaving in a few minutes to welcome home one of our Hero's,Army Spc. Adrian G. Mills of Newnan Georgia.
  5. RandyR from Georgia arrived here safe in Western Nebraska late this afternoon. We hope to leave for Cody around 7:00 AM? See you there!
  6. We will be heading out soon for the Georgia area with the RV and RSV. Since the wife will not tent camp we like to take the RV to some state camp ground them hop on the RSV and ride from there to see the area. We might do an overnight in a hotel if the loop is more than a one day ride. Generally we haul the unigo with the 2 Border Terriers, they love to ride. We did 3k in the west last summer this way. I was hoping that I could get some suggestion on where to go in in the Southern mountains, we will end our trip with a stay at the Vogel event
  7. Some of you may recall me mentioning my involvement with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the internal Eagle Riders groups. Last year we raffled off a new Harley and many of you supported that effort by purchasing raffle tickets for that fund raising event. (Sorry if you did not win) As a result of that raffle we raised over $4,900 for the Cancer fund in addition to raising the money to purchase the bike. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international organization dating back to 1898 whose sole purpose is to raise money for charities we support. The organization has a rich history of accomplishments and disquished membership including Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman and many many more notible public, sports figures and celebrities. http://www.foe.com The FOE has over a million members internationally with local chapters known as Aeries. Within many of the Aeries we have formed internal groups known as the Eagle Riders who are motorcycle enthusiast who organize to raise funds for charities and promote the message and causes of the FOE through motorcycle related rides and events. For more information check out this link http://www.foe.com/events/eagle-riders.aspx I mention this to announce that I have recently been appointed and installed as the Georgia State Ride Coordinator making me responsible for the organization, growth and leadership of the Eagle Rider Groups in the state of Georgia. And to invite all of you to check out the FOE and Eagle rider groups in your area. Georgia has five Aeries located in Atlanta, Gainesville, Augusta, Waycross (Okefenokee) and St. Mary's. Two of which have established Eagle Rider Groups in Atlanta and St. Mary's. Within days of being installed in this capacity I have begun the formation process to open up two new Eagle Rider groups in Waycross and Gainesville, Ga. Doubling the number of Eagle Rider groups in Georgia. My interaction with the VentureRiders and the F.O.E/Eagle Riders has resulted in hundreds of new friendships with great people because of the participation in these two groups of like minded motorcycle ethusiast. Because of my experience and sincere appreciation of both of these groups I wanted to share this information with you. I hope that you check out this organization, visit an Aerie in your area to participate and join if you find it a worthy organization as I have.
  8. OK you North Georgia folks, what roads are a must for the Helen, Dahlonega, Ellijay area? I have been there once but dont remember much about the area. What I do remember is the ride from Suches over Blood Mountain by way of Wolfpen Gap, I believe, was very interesting. What else is there in the area? I will be there Thursday and Friday.
  9. My wife and I are hoping to do a spring bike trip next year. We hope to start out from Knoxville Tennessee, go over to the Natchez Trace Parkway and ride it south, loop back through Macon Georgia to visit family and then back to the Knoxville area. I was hoping I could get some advice from as to: The earliest we could go next spring and still expect reasonable weather for our ride through Tennessee/ Mississippi/Alabama and Georgia. What we should stop and see along the way Interesting places to stay If there are any detours worth exploring on our route We have done the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Skyway and the "Tail of the Dragon" previously although we may ride the Cherohola again on the way back as it is hard to beat. Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
  10. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.... Terry, Blackjack has busted his arze to keep us together for the past three years... and somebody needs to step up to the plate and and pick up the ball and run with it.... so I'm guess I'll try,,,,,, Here in Atlanta the riding conditions have sucked for the past few weeks even though I have been riding on a daily basis to get to work and back. But, this weekend on Saturday it looks like we might have a fairly decent riding day and the Great American Motorcycle show will be in town. All I'm saying is that this might be a good day and opportunity to get together in a spirit of mutual friendship, comraderie and fellowship to get together for the purpose of a ride opportunity, Viewing the show, a meal together and talking about how we will keep the North Georgia monthly meet and eat together. I'm willing to provide an after show meeting place at the Atlanta chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 714 near Spaggetti Junction for food, adult libations and entertainment to discuss the future of the North Georgia Venture riders participation in monthly meet and eats. ALL WITHIN THE SOUND OF MY VOICE ARE WELCOME. What I'm suggesting is maybe picking a meeting spot for breakfast, going to the show and getting together afterwards for a group social activity to discuss how we might honor Blackjacks efforts by keeping the North Georgia Monthly meet and eats alive. Speaking for myself, I know that many of the memories and valued friendships that I have realized on this forum have been a direct result of the Terry's selfless commitment to trying to bring us together and I for one would hate to see that end. Please E-mail, PM, post or call me directly with interest in making this happen. Love you guys, Bob, The Atlanta Dragonslayer

  15. I've decided to start deer hunting again after a 3 year layoff during which time I lost my lease rights to private land nearby. But I'm right on the edge of several large tracts of Federal and Georgia state public lands. Some open and some which require checkin/signin (wildlife management areas). Georgia offers a free hunting/fishing license to those over 65, and for those like myself in the over-60 group a $90 lifetime license which includes eveything hunting/fishing except Federal bird stamps. So I bought the over-60 lifetime license yesterday, and ordered a Barnett crossbow via the internet to use. I think my right arm is too weak to hold a bow for any length of time since I broke the arm & shoulder 3 years ago. Bow season starts Sept 12th, muzzle loader Oct-10, and firearms on Oct 16 - Jan 1. I'm thinking I want to buy a TC Contender .22rf pistol to squirrel hunt prior to deer hunting from the Suzuki trail bike I have , so I can get some early scouting in.
  16. What happens in Georgia stays in Georgia...and Rick "Sarges46" will never know what happened to his wife on a winding road to Suches when she met up with the cowboy and the teacherman...if ya know what I mean...she couldn't have found a better duo to TEACH her how to RIDE her stallion...if ya know what I mean.

  24. My whole adult life I've been struggling with the question of what I wanted to do when I grew up. Now at the young age of 53 I think I finally know. Yesterday I sealed the deal on a new job which I am hoping will finally put me there. Ever since I got back from my Sturgis trip things have been kinda slow. The projects I've been working on either got completed or petered out right before Thanksgiving and things have been at dead stop since November. Being idle and considering the lousy weather we've been having I have been wrestling with my mental and financial health warding off cabin fever and slow cash flow issues. In the mean time doing my "What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up" exercises. These exercises pretty much involves making a list of the components of the perfect job and then develop a strategy to find that job and get hired for it. My list pretty much read like this: I want a job that requires me to do the following: Ride my motorcycle Travel to meet other people involved with Motorcycling. Conduct business with people who had motorcycling on their minds, for fun and profit. Attending, covering and participating in motorcycling rides, gatherings and events. Writing about those places, people and events I experienced while doing my job. Getting paid for doing all of the foregoing. Work with other people with similar interest and values. I did not want to have a job where : I had to be stuck inside all the time. I had a set schedule or routine that forced me to combat rush hour traffic daily. I was required to wear a coat and tie everyday. My pay did not represent the effectiveness of my efforts. IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON HERE; Once you decide and can visualize what you want in life, point your nose in that direction and follow it. Eventually you will find what your looking for. So Yesterday, I spent several hours with Jerry McDaniel Owner/Editor of Thunder Roads Magazine of Georgia and as of today will be working for him as a Field Representative for his magazine. Being a field rep includes all of the foregoing but, mostly seeking out Motorcycle friendly businesses in Georgia and enticing them into advertising in the magazine. So, if any of you out there, especially North Georgia members know of any Georgia motorcycle friendly businesses who would like to increase their exposure in the Georgia Motorcycling community through direct market advertising in Thunder Roads Magazine, send me an e-mail and a lead. I'll take all the help I can get to get a fast jump off the line. And do appreciate it. Or, If you have any event anouncements you would like included in the magazine, give me a shout.
  25. Lord, please forgive me for saying that but as a Georgia Dawg I have to pull for the SEC.
