Is there a 'tech thread' to adjust valves on the first generation bikes? I do see the one for second generation. Is there a shim travel kit around I could share in....even better if there is one around for Canadian members? Thanks.

Please.. if you haven't listed your bike year etc under your site nickname, please do. So many ask and answer questions without showing what bike, yea,r generation etc that they have. You then have to go to their profile to see what bike they are talking about. Rant off... thanks.

First of all, I absolutely do NOT think that there will be a new generation Venture for 2013. All the talk about it got me to wondering about something though. In the unlikely event that there IS a new Venture at some point and Yamaha is actually smart enough to build it around the new VMAX engine, what can we expect in regards to the engine/gear/clutch basket noise. Did Yamaha improve that with the new engine? OK...I addressed this to Squeeze because I know that he has the new generation VMAX but there may be some others that own or have ridden one also. So...I guess you can answer too.

Progressive Springs.....Is this a need for the second generation bikes or something that was upgraded and is only used on the first generation bikes? Information comes up some on the first generation bikes. I weigh around 275 - 285 lbs, 5' 11" tall. So kinda large fellow. I have noticed my bike being a little to soft or springy kinda jumpy on a hard pushing right or left lean curve. Maybe I just need to do the air shock stabilizing mod to the front forks. I need a pump just for this. Next on my need to get list. Fuzzy

I have read many threads that have comments that state their 1st. gen is faster. I thought it was just banter between the two generations, until today, when I read from a fired up member that owns a HD and a first generation. He was tired of a post that he thought was a HD bashing and after he bragged up his HD he closed with a statement that his 1st. gen. would blow the doors off of any 2nd. gen.!!!!! So, are the 1st. generation bikes faster? If so why?

I still have the original OEM tool kit in my 1990, but there are some empty pockets for sockets in the pouch. Can anyone inventory a COMPLETE, unadulterated First generation 1986-1993 tool kit and tell me what is supposed to be in there?

People born before 1946 were called The Silent and powerful generation.. - People born between 1946 and 1964 are called The Baby Boomers. - People born between 1965 and 1979 are calledGeneration X, . - And people born between 1980 and 2010 are called Generation Y , Why do we call the last group Generation Y? Y should I get a job? Y should I leave home and find my own place? Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours? Y should I clean my room? Y should I wash and iron my own clothes? Y should I buy any food? But a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below...

I'm shopping for a cycle I can buy outright and I am considering a 2nd Generation RSV that has a bit over 100,000 miles. It got me to thinking - what is the most miles you have seen on a 2nd Generation RSV?

Is there anyone out there refurbishing radios frm 1st generation ventures.

At a recent biker-type party I attended, a conversation was over heard that discussed the possibility of Swifty riding a second generation Venture, probably in light of a recent '07 deal for $10K. Someone said Swifty would never be happy with a bike like that because he couldn't ride the twisties like he does now. Then someone suggested that there are plenty of second generation Venture riders out there who could easily keep up with Swifty in the twisties. Whaddya think? Is it the bike or the rider...or the alcohol?

I spotted a 2nd Generation in the back of a pickup on I80 in Des Moines yesterday - headed West. I wonder if it was one of our members? There has also been a 2nd Generation running around Colfax - Newton - Baxter area with a smaller bike following - perhaps a child with a permit - any of these people members here?

Ok, I'll admit I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree at times, but I've searched and I'm coming up with nothing. Can someone please post a link to the thread that explains how to run the extra ground from the starter to the frame on a 1st generation. I've got an 86 VR and I'm trying to take care of some issues. Also if there are any pics on running new battery cables, I need some help with that too. Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get. Mick
