Hello all. When I flew out of Guam in the 90s we always had a flyaway kit in the belly in case we broke down somewhere downrange. It included common items to get you back to home base without having to wait for parts, or get them from JAL, ANA, EVA etc. at a much higher price. Mechanics were abundant, parts not so much. The time is approaching for me to put this thing on the road, and I don't mean the 40 mile test rides I've been doing. I mean like you gen-you-wine over-the-road guys and gals. Getting older I'm not as Venture-ous or Venture-some as I once was, but if I'm not gonna ride long-haul... So with that in mind, I'd like to get an idea what y'all have in your flyaway kits. Tools, parts, fluids, BLTs. Was gonna post in the Watering Hole but more interested in 1st gen-specific stuff. But any info is appreciated. Richard

I am wondering if my bikes fuel gauge is operating normally. Someone in another post said with one or two bars left on the fuel ga. they had gone 110 miles. My gauge, with two bars left, only takes about 2.5 gals to fill it back up. Is this normal with these gauges? My trip odometer does not work, however, a round trip to work and back is about 100 miles. When I refill, it usually takes about 2.5 gals.

Just curious if anyone has one they would like to sell. Mine is seriously Kapoot. I keep checking ebay and can find em for 200 give or take but it's always for the whole dash... I don't need all that. Also, any ideas if other speedo's are compatible? Thanks guys and gals! Jay -
Well it finally happen. I usually get from 39 to 42 MPG. I've been tweaking things for quite some time to try and help my gas mileage mainly because a few people have bragged about 48 to 50 MPG. I recently went on a 954 miles trip over two days. The guy I went with was on a 03 Venture and I had never ridden with him before. I was watching our gas mileage and he consistently took less gas than me, actually on one run I put in 5.2 gals and he put in 4.3 gals for 213.4 miles. Darn near 50 MPG for him and not to shabby for me. Overall I was able to check the first 823 miles because we didn't fill up at the end, besides it was raining. Any way I burnt 19.75 gals or 41.67 MPG and he burnt 17.18 for 47.9 MPG. Probably 90% interstate and at 70MPH indicated. I ask him if I could take his bike apart to check all the adjustments but he declined. LOL If he were to sell the bike I would be the first in line to buy it. That just amazes me that the gas mileage could be so different. BOO

I have been using my MP3 or radio on the bike...Installed the XM radio from Walmart and the payment of $11.07 per month ( I did have to pay $15 extra for something) and my 50s 60s 70s music plays 24/7. I highly recommend. I know some of the guys and gals have been enjoying this for a long time but at least I'm now on board.

ok im going to wait for skydoc to get better then im sending the calipers out for a fresh rebuild. i tried every thing in the book. i bought a mighty vac flushed the system. new DOT 4 . as thats all the store had on the shelf. took it out for a ride today just up and down my back road here after about a mile of back and forth it locked up again this time 5 ft from my front door. so im lucky there. so my opion is calipers need a rebuild? it must be sticking? sorry to rant here guys and gals too. i will be comming into some money in december due to a uncle who passed on. so a new bike might be in order? but this one will remain with me its gotten to be a chalenge and sooner or later one of us is going to give in LOL

I would like to put chrome rims on my 2006 tour deluxe.I found a company Cycle Image out of California that dose a swap with your oem rims.You give them your core and they send you the original rim chromed.My question is how hard is it to install the bearings back on the rims, or do I need the dealer to do this.Thanks for any help you guys or gals can give me.

ok im looking for a battery cover for a1986 yamaha virago xv700 is this the left or right side cover? a old girlfriend called and just had to ask me if i can find one? and im not sure what side its on i found a chrome on on ebay. but it just says left and right covers for 60 bucks??? sorry guys and gals what can i say im not a parts salesman.

just want to rmind all you folks, we are going to have alot of ladies there. so nothing wrong with prizes for the ladies. i will be sure to bring some, and i hope others do to. they don't have to be bike related. you gals no what you like so you do the shopping. linda says she likes turqouse rings. :rotf:

OK....not free but almost I have well over $5,000 worth of accessories on this bike so you pay $4,950 and get the rest of the bike FREE Sorry, I know that was a cheap way to "MAKE YOU LOOK" If you know anyone interested please let them know about this bike. i got an 08 royalstar venture, today was the first time i ran the tank down low. i ran out of gas on the regular setting before the reserve light and fuel trip came on. i ran on reserve far enough to get off the freeway and to a station. the tank only took 4.3 gals. the book says it is a 5.9 gallon tank with .90 reserve. it should have taken at least 5 gals. is this normal for these tanks to have 1.6 gals on the reserve? does not sound like it should be. the light and fuel trip came on about two miles after i switched over to reserve.
