Installed some new to me mufflers yesterday and when I rev it pretty hard it will blow a flame out the right pipe. Carbs were synced at SETXMD but I had a set of RK pipes on it with the cats I'm guessing the free flowing mufflers must have changed things. Also noticed a lil popping on deceleration nothing loud like a back fire. Pipes installed were Klock Works with the baffle's installed any thoughts.

I purchased a damaged spare front fairing during the winter and now it is out to paint. I want to add some graphics and be able to switch the two fairings off and on when I feel the need. So anybody go any good sources for good graphics? I was thinking a flame outline with real flame inserted in the outline. I have tried some of the online places but just can't find what I want. You guys got any ideas?

Took the Venture for it's maiden ride today and was impressed. After spending the last week working bugs out of it, all went well. I found myself searching for another gear but that's out of habit. I know the nature of this beast is it likes rpm's. Acceleration was impressive for a bike this size, especially when pushing to 7k before shifting. The ride was very comfortable. It was only 50 degrees and I had a side wind gusting to 30 mph so I couldn't be too judgmental. Still need to change the thermostat and do a little polishing. Think I'm going to de-link the brakes. Personal preference, please don't flame me. Couple of questions: Does the CB antenna also work for the radio too? I was able to play the radio in the garage but was cutting in and out on road. The antenna was missing when I purchased it. Are there any external parts on the carbs that would be affected by carb cleaner? Would like to clean them up a little before re installing the plastic. Thanks, Steve

As I prepare for my electrical work on the bike (Relays, ignition bypass) I was trying to find some way to tap into the 10 gauge ignition wiring but no one around here seems to have a useful connector and I can't really afford a 150 W to 200 W soldering gun. So, as I perused the soldering / welding section of our nearby Canadian Tire store, I ran across a mini butane torch called the Iroda Micro-Jet on sale for $7.99 and claiming to put out a 2,400 F. flame. I bought one and used it to solder two 10 gauge wires together and it seems to have done a great job. It only took a few seconds to heat up the wires enough for the solder to start flowing. Now...a warning here...this is a flame - a small one - but a flame none the less and a hot one at that. It will quickly melt or set fire to many materials so you have to be extremely careful where and how you use it. Still, I can see it being handy for soldering jobs that are "in the open". As well, I noticed that there was a "fire preventing" gel for sale in the same department. It's used to coat material near where a flame is being used to avoid damaging the material. I think I'll buy some and do some experimenting...this could prove to be useful. And another nice thing...the fuel cell for the torch is a standard disposable lighter...available everywhere for peanuts. The packaging states that a lighter is good for about twenty minutes of use. You can even adjust the temperature (To a certain extent) by using the adjustment switch on the lighter. Say, I wonder how well it works for starting camp fires?

I have a chance to buy a 1996 HD Heritage Softail Classic with about 10k miles on it. Has everything and is bone stock. Well maintained bike. Always stored inside and heated garage. All maint. done by HD dealer. Seller wants $7-7,500 for it. I think it's a good deal, but I want to flip it in the spring for about $9,000. Any thoughts? Might even keep it and sell the 95 HD. Just something more fun to talk about than flame wars, etc. By the way if you have not looked, Gary N. is doing better. Wish I could do something for him. Does anyone know of a Santa icon I can click and paste?

There have been several members that have been burned by a fellow member in the VR classified section. I am sure that 99% of the members of this forum are good, honest people. I hate to see the other 1% screw up a good thing. My question is...should I mention this individual's name so that others can use caution in their dealings with him? Or, should I keep my mouth shut and not flame fellow members? I wouldn't be so bothered by this, but some people have lost considerable amounts of money to this guy. Let me know what you all think.
