1. Well I've spent the winter doing all the PM's I could do. Just finished with the new tires, brakes and the Star Glide conversion. So here are the pics. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg318/2057ken/006-1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg318/2057ken/005.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg318/2057ken/002-1.jpg
2. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/IMAG0264.jpg Im glad how it came out. If you look close you can see imperfections but who will be looking so close. I cut in angles with a hacksaw then filed down to a round shape. finished it off with some clear nail polish. While I had it off i sanded all the surface rust from the pivot points and greased all points with some moly.
3. We just finished our Helo Crash FF refresher training. Here are a few pics from the course. The first from the control tower, the second one is me, and the last one is everyone of course. Those of us in the back row could feel our hair curling from the heat.
4. No English dictionary has been able to explain the difference between the two words 'complete' and 'finished' in a way that's so easy to understand: Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE & FINISHED but, there is an explanation… When you marry the right one, you are COMPLETE... And when you marry the wrong one, you are FINISHED... And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are... COMPLETELY FINISHED !!!

Can someone help me find the list for the CD Ride Like a Pro III. I am finished and wish to pass it on to the next person. Thank you.
6. It was a great surprise to see 86er and Bubba again. Gene got to meet Bubba and came away laughing and not believing what he was seeing. After we got back to my house we had some really cold adult beverage. After the bikes cooled down we went down and put the finishing touch on my freshly finished 83, Todd had his carb tune with him, so we just had to sync the carbs. Now she runs even sweeter than before, we had to call in the Calvary because we couldnt get them to match side to side. Tried calling the Muffin but no luck there, we finally got hold of Squidley and he gave us a few tips on how to correct it. Brad came through for us and we finished it up. Thanks Todd and Squidley, another payoff for my big $12.00 investment. Todd ended up spending the night and we talked and drank till Todd started falling asleep . ANother testimony to the worth of this fantastic place, THANKS DON!!!!!
7. I wish to thank Playboy for sending me the Ride like a Pro 3 but also for the popcorn and Koolaid. It is much appreciated. As soon as I am finished I will gladly check the list and send it on also.
8. got them finished today. whew!! i was able to fit them so the rear trunk can go on and off without any issues at all! tell me what you think?? hmmm...the Pelican 1620 is 78 liters with wheels and handle......trunk?? i wonder how much those mufflers weigh?? not like i dont have enough work to do...Progressives sitting next to me, De-link and Stainless lines on the way, Master brake cylinder kits here somewhere....
9. I have a question. All of you with 83 thru 91 first & second gen Venture & Venture Royales, could you please tell me what you'r engine is turning at 70 MPH? As most of you know it took me three years to turn our 89 Venture Royale into a trike, which I finished last spring and we took on a 4000+ mile trip. However I can't remember what RPM the bike used to turn at 70 so I don't know if my gearing is right or wrong. Thanks in advance.
10. Been tearing down the VR to get to the thermostat and have a few choice words for the engineers. Since this is a family oriented site I won't say them. Was the cooling system an afterthought or what?! If I didn't know any better I'd say this was designed by our government. One department designed the motor and another department designed the cooling system. Neither one consulted each other. Finished with my rant, thank you.
11. Well I think I am finished with the V Star.........got the luggage rack and the small tour pack installed. Maybe now I can devote more time to my Venture.
12. My daughter (21) just finished her MSF class :clap2:and is now in the market for her first bike . She wants a used sportbike (250-500cc) to learn on and really likes the Kawasaki Ninja 250. We both took one for a ride and I have to say it's a fun little bike and very easy to ride. Does anyone know of anything for sale in the 15-1800 dollar range? I'd like to stay somewhere near Michigan if we must go outside Michigan. The one we looked at was low sided at low speed and has a cracked fender, scratched upper fairing and cracked windshield otherwise was a nice low miles bike, the guy was asking top dollar for a damaged bike though.
13. I am passing this on to you all because it definitely worked for me today, and we could all probably use more calm in our lives. Some doctor on television this morning said that the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't finished and this morning I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of wum, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum scriptins, the res of a Chesescke an a box a choclets. Boomer....who sez Yu haf no idr how bludy guod I feel rite now.
14. Does anyone know someone that can pin stripe my VR here in Northern Virginia. Just finished repainting and repairing. Thanks
15. An Ontarian, a Prince Edward Islander and a Newfie all die and go to hell. While there, they spot a red phone and ask what the phone is for. The devil tells them it is for calling back home to Earth. The Islander asks to call Charlottetown and talks for 5 minutes. When he finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so the Islander writes him a cheque. Next the Newfie calls St. John's and talks for 30 minutes. When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is 6 million dollars, so the Newfie writes him a cheque. Finally the Ontarian gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he was finished the devil informed him that there would be no charge for the call, and feel free to call Ontario anytime. When the Newfie hears this, he goes ballistic, and asks the devil why the Ontarian got to call his home province free. The devil replied," Since McGuinty became premier of Ontario , the province has gone to hell, so naturally it's a local call.":rotfl:
16. 09 venture. I need a non working or just cheap un used cassette. I want to take my time and study it. I have a idea to do something but do not want my cassette spot open untill I get it finished.
17. . CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES. I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates, and a half bottle of scotch. You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now. Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace.
18. I finally finished cleaning the carbs on the VR and put the bike back together, it runs great, I have today and tomorrow off and it will be around 70 so riding I will go. Tom
19. A couple of weeks ago I posted that I had started a tank bra for the Millennium. Finally finished the darn thing. I know that several on here do this kind of work and do much more detail than I've done here, but I'll tell you what. Leather work is not as easy as it seems like it would be. I'm happy with the result. Anyway, see photo for the finished product.
20. Today the wife and I completed our first full marathon 26.2miles. I had a great split (13.1 miles) of 2 hrs and 10 minutes. Stacy at age 41 was right on my heals. She passed me and finished with a time of 4 hrs and 50 minutes. My time was....................well.............I finished before the course closed and I'll leave it at that.
21. Smith was running in 4th today.....I thought he had a chance. Sigh...he finished 21st.
22. Got the hitch hooked up, wiring and lights all done, interior finished off .... she's all ready to roll!! (prev post) http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51072 Finished pics...
23. I finished installing the Nexen yesterday and although I haven't been able to ride the bike much since I finished, the miles I have ridden with it have been positive. Thanks to those who post on this forum for all the great info that I used in making my decision to go to the Darkside. My install experience was much like others posters have written about. I did take the opportunity to check the driveshaft splines and the drive unit while i had the bike apart. Although the bike only has 2000 miles on it I just feel better knowing all is well. You put the Carbon One lift adapter together with my craftsman jack and it makes working on the bike a dream.. David aka wngrr
24. I just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that the tail of the dragon is now officially open. They finished working on the road today.
25. My continuing project is now complete. I built a long travel leading link front suspension just to see if I could. Bought a milling machine to make the parts and spent lots of time learning to machine steel and figure out how to make the necessary parts. Just finished my test run down the road and I'm still alive! The front wheel is moved ahead 4 inches to shorten the trail so the handling is quite good. Cannot think of anything else to do - so I guess it is done!
