Yesterday I pulled up beside a group of Harley's at a stop light. One guy was yelling and gesturing to the bike in front of him. (beside me) The guy beside me bent over and picked up a chrome plug that fell off the end of his handle bar. And here I thought you guys were just joking about Harley's losing parts.

I want to put in a platform and sidewalk. I'm sure I won't be able to mix enough concrete to do the job in one fell swoop. Is is okay to add new concrete to concrete that has already set?

An elderly lady was walking on the golf course on the island of Martha's Vineyard . She slipped and fell. President Obama, who was behind her by chance, helped her to get up promptly. She thanked him and he answered: "It was a pleasure to help you. Don't you recognize me? I am your president. Are you going to vote for me in the next election?" The elderly woman laughed and replied: ''I fell on my butt ... not my head!"

I think my scoot has had it's last bath!!! Last few times I washed it things went wrong! Just before Doodle's MD gave it a bath and one of the wind deflectors, by the right front fork, fell off. The good news there is it fell off in my driveway. Washed it before MD in Ohio, the other deflector is on the highway somewhere north of Cincinnatti Today I washed it to go to kbran's MD and now the intercom sounds like the fuel pump is running in my helmet headset!!!

OK, OK it wasn't the helmets fault.. but does re-enforce why you should always wear it, no matter how short the ride, and should never carry anything in your hands.. We just returned from a trip to the Texas Hill Country with some friends and rode the 3 Sisters and around Bandera/Leakey area. We survived deer, rattlesnakes, llamas, cattle and 100+ degrees, no problem. Then rode up to Fredericksburg and rode up to Enchanted Rock and back on the Willow City Loop. Stopped at a ranch that rents rooms to check it out and had stopped at the office to talk. They had a mini western town and saloon farther down on their property we went to check out. And then a series of bad choices and bad luck ensued... - My wife, who is diligent about wearing her full face helmet at all times, decided to just carry it since it was only a short ride on the property. She threaded her left arm through the face shield. - We end up traveling down there on some dusty red gravel roads and it was a little difficult to navigate. - Then, in the quest for shade from the heat, I went in the grass to park under a tree. There was un-apparently a low spot they had filled in with red gravel about 6" deep and I lost control of the bike and it fell on its left side - while at almost a dead stop. We both fell off of course but my wife ended up in great pain. Everyone else saw what happened and thought the fall was insignificant and maybe she bruised a rib. I had only slight gravel rash on left hand. She was a tough cookie and made the ride back to Fredericksburg but I could hear her wince when we hit the cattle guards on this old farm road so I took it fairly slow. Back at the hotel she tried to lay there with ice but I finally convinced her to go to the hospital. The ER Dr also rode and after describing the situation felt bruised ribs was likely all that she had but took X-Rays anyhow. To his and OUR surprise she had broken two ribs and punctured her lung and had partial lung collapse. They came very close to installing a tube through her side to drain the air in her chest cavity (pneumothorax), but decided to admit her and see if it would heal itself. We stayed 2 nights in the hospital and after several X-Rays and CATscan they decided it was stable and healing itself. We have followup appts Monday at home. She will be on pain meds for a few weeks for sure. So what should have been a fairly uneventful fall off the bike, ended up being pretty serious because what we determined is she had fallen on her helmet and it broke her ribs. she did not break her fall with her hand at all because she was holding her helmet. Of course I also should have not driven where I didn't know the ground, or lost control of the bike, and should have let her off on the road... so I will always feel that guilt. The bike is a bit heavy for my 160lbs and I do need to get the front lowered but not sure if that would have helped in that much loose gravel. Here are some other cautions for that area.. -Another Dr said that all of the red granite gravel roads in that area are real slick with a powdered dust due to the extreme drought (he fell off his bike in his own driveway at the gate). -And the deer are out on the roads a lot looking for food and water. -And Hwy 16 from Bandera to Fredericksburg and beyond has a lot of fresh gravel and asphalt going down FYI, if you have to go to a Hospital in that area, Hill Country Memorial is probably the nicest folks and best treatment we have ever seen. Feelin' like a heel but I share my embarrament in hopes it prevents a similar occurrence with anyone else. Keith

Anyone have a left side helmet holder you'd part with? I know my key probably wouldn't fit it but that's ok since I don't use them anyway. I put on a strip light and used the helmet holders to secure it and didn't check to keep them tight and the left one fell off. I would like to get it back original if possible. PM me if you have an extra. (06 RSV) Thanks. Bill

OK, so I just got the bike and I'm sure this has been covered in this forum somewhere, but........... was in a parking lot the other day, sitting on the RSV, pushing it out of a space, turning the bike a little, when............. the ground under me sloped off a little. Long story short, it went down........... I stepped off, a little shook, faced the bike (the wrong way I know) and tried to lift it. No FRICKEN WAY was it going to move. A guy ran over and together we lifted it. So I rode away embarrassed. Today, I get my neighbor to come over and we gently lay it down on the kickstand side onto a piece of cardboard. So I back up to it, grab the lower half of the handlebar and the seat and push with my legs. Now, I'm not a little guy, as a matter of fact I'm stronger than the average. I could not budge the thing!!! He had to help me get it back on the kick stand. THIS IS SCARRY! How do you lift it? Do I need to carry a bottle jack? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

I've got a Garmin nuvi 255w gps. I have the ball mount for use in the car. What I need is a handle bar mount for my RSV. Can't find any thing at garmin.com. Where should I be looking for a mount? I did stick it to the windshield with the suction cup, but it fell off at hwy speeds and scared the s--t out of me. I grabed it before it fell off the tank and gave it to the wife..

Hello, I have a 1996 RSTC and I was wondering if there is any adjusting that I can do on the suspension. I have always felt that the front of my bike bounces too much going over bumps even at low speeds and today after the bike fell I took it for a test ride and it seemed to me that it was bouncing an awful lot in the rear also. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

I have crossed over to the Dark Side, well maybe it's more like gray. Titanium gray. This morning I traded in my '83 VR that I have in the classifieds on a Goldwing. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the technical articles in this web site. Huge, huge help. There were two folks who had expressed an interest in my VR, but things kind of fell into place when this deal came along. Once again thanks for everyones friendship and expertise! Scott:7_6_3[1]:

I love the bike but, is there any way to boost the performance of these bikes even a little? Most of the guys I ride with have the Goldwing 1800's and I fell like my bike is panting all the time to keep up.

Any of you Goldwing riders know of a good Goldwing forum I can direct my brother towards? He just bought our Dad's 85 GL1200 Limited Edition from him. Apparently our Dad doesn't fell he can ride it after he got his left leg amputated last fall. Maybe he's just looking for a 1st. Gen. in stead.

Seems nobody wants to admit to anything .... or few have had embarrassing moments (I doubt that). In 40 years of riding, I've only dumped my bike three times...and each time was when it was standing still !! First time I was parked at the edge of a grassed area. We were all at a party at a campsite. I decided to move my bike, went running across the grassed area and jumped onto my bike (from the side of the kick stand) as though I was the Lone Ranger mounting Silver or something. Granted, I'd had a few brewskies by this time. Well, my momentum when I hit the saddle caused the bike to fall over the opposite side. There I was, sprawled on the ground with my bike on top of me. That was sure the topic for quite a while. Second time was no biggie...it just fell over as I was backing up over bunch grass mounds down a bit of a slope. I didn't get caught under it but needed help from a neighbor to lift it up. Third time (with my 85 VR) I was parked in front of a bike shop. Came out, got on my bike (from the side stand side), plunked my butt down on the seat, heard a *snap* and down I went. Managed to push myself clear as the bike and me fell over. Several "bikers" were milling around and a few got a chuckle at my embarrassment. Had to get help lifting it again. Danged side stand broke. But that wasn't the worst of it. When I got home, I was having trouble getting off the bike and keeping it steady so that it wouldn't fall over... I'm a slender, older guy and that was a bit too much of a task for me (at the time coz I was still rattled from falling off it) so I had to ask this lady and her quite a bit older father to hold the bike steady while I got off and was able to get it onto the centre stand. Unfortunately for me, neither of them spoke english!!! Amazing what sign language can do! Well, I should count my blessings as at least I've never fallen off while in motion (and hopefully never will). That wouldn't be funny or embarrassing at all.
