1. On an 85 trunk there are two rubber feet that fit in two holes in the mounting rack. This is an 85 only item.. Does anyone have a wrecked trunk from and 85 that I could get these "feet" from?
2. Why did the manufacturer of the computer mouse replace the roller ball type with the optic type? Because it's easier to clean a mouse's feet than it's balls!
3. This is a bit late but we found a great campsite this summer in Nova Scotia on the Bay of Fundy. The campsite is run by the local town and you can camp right at the water's edge. I think this is close to where the highest tidal change was recorded. It goes from a few feet from your tent to up to a 1/4 mile away. If you are still doing some camping this summer check it out. http://oldshipyardbeachcampground.com
4. see how you fit on your bike http://cycle-ergo.com/ play around with it. you can have your feet on the ground as well.
5. Went out this morning stood up on garage roof and shoes started to slide. Sat down and it did slow me down. A little. Right off the edge!! Lucky I was on the lowest corner only about 8 feet. Landed on both feet. Should have tried to land on the good one. Bad one didn't care for that but seems OK other than complaining a lot. I'll be limping pretty good for a while again but I've had plenty of practice. Thankfull I'm not really hurt. Easy fall if I had to do it. Gonna let Jeff have this falling stuff. I can't hide mine. Oh Well back to roof. I didn't get any pics of me coming off there. Guess I'll have to have the Warden stand by with camera.
6. My wife would like somewhere to put her feet higher than her footboards on our RSTD. She has put her feet on top of the saddle bags, which caused me to suck the uphostery on the seat right up my @#$%&!!! when I realized she did it. Anyone mount a set of pegs up a little higher and did the fold out of the way? Thanks. R.
7. Sailor

surprised

When I went out to get the morning paper a hummingbird buzzed me. When I looked around I found it had built a nest in some old wind chimes a few feet from our front door. Nice!
8. 85 Royale that I would like to lower slightly -- but from what I am seeing in the forums is a different seat the only way? I am a little on the "shorter side" and with the bike sitting straight I have the balls of my feet on the ground. Would like a little more than that but can get by -- just wondering what the options are. Thanks in advance. Scott
9. I have a 08 RSTD, has anyone come up ideas to help with the heat on the drivers feet?
10. On the local news yesterday evening, it was noted that it was 19 years ago to the day that the blizzard hit. They showed some pictures and I remember it well. We got a little over two feet of wet snow. I was in Nashville when it hit and it chased me across the state back to the north east part of the state. I would have done better if we had not stopped in Knoxville to eat. By the time we got out of the restaurant, it had snowed 4-5 inches and I was still 100 miles from home. Speaking of 100 miles, that is about what Linda and I put on the bike yesterday, riding around in 74 to 78 degree beautiful sunshine. I liked that a lot better than trying to get around in two feet of snow and no electricity at the house and no heat. RandyA
11. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/3300773 You will also need to get hose at your local auto shop I used vacuum line get 5 Feet the inside die was just enough to be able to push the two wires through. Get 5 feet of whatever hole you want, I use vaume hose remove the 8mm nut make SURE you have the bottom nipple down and drill at the top Break all of the old lens out (watch your eyes) I used this type sander to make my surface flat Your just removing the outside edge lip. Now cut your hose in half 2.5 feet, spray WD 40 inside the hose on both ends and pust the wire through. it will go with no problem. IMPAORTANT: Make sure you have your wires through the back plate then then run the wire through the hose see photos. Clean off the left over WD40 with cleaner Now peal off the 3M backing and I used GOOP and file all around inside and up around the black vac line. Then clamp together, wait about 30 minutes and your ready to use. Run the hose at the same area as the front brake hose is routed. and up to the the wireing in the front cowl.. I will most tie into the cowl area you could also tie into the running lights area as well. Use a hose of your chioce that the wire just will fit into. LET THERE BE LIGHT. Any Qustions feel free to email or PM me. Enjoy, Jeff
12. LOL!!! So we sold our Honda yesterday Got what we wanted for it so that's great. Got my armrests from Diamond R Friday and got them installed. They're great. Got something rigged up for my boards (passenger) so that I basically have highway pegs as a passenger. I can put my feet out to cool them off in the breeze as well as basically have more room to have different positions for my feet to help shift around as we go. So now I'm all set!!! Thanks for everyone's patience helping me figure things out, where to get stuff, etc. We went for a seven hour ride yesterday and it was AWESOME!! Beautiful weather and, now that I have all my accessories, cool feet! It was great!! My back was bugging me, too, without the armrests for support, especially in rough areas, so I'm happy now!!

14. RSTD Looking to buy one, that is a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I drove two over the weekend. The first was an 06 at a dealer with 30k. it had corrosion on it I think it has been ridden up north in the salt. When I drove it I found things like cruise and self canceling turn signals that didn't work. Although it ran OK when I returned with it the dealer asked what I thought about it and I replied "Road hard and put away wet". The second one was a black 06 bought new in 07 with 9k miles on it, WOW what a gorgeous bike I was ready to just put it in the trailer. But, we test rode it as you should and was disappointed with the obnoxious WINE and the slow speed steering was scary, it felt like the front tire was flat. The bike was difficult to turn then would turn like it was going to flop, so you had to push it hard then hold on as to not over steer. Now very frustrated we had to walk away from this bike as well. On our drive of 2-1/2 hours back home I realized I had hot feet ridding both bikes. I currently ride a VTX 1800 C with forward controls and my feet never get hot. Is the hot feet normal on this bike with the floorboards and the chin fairings? I ride in southern FL and most of the time it is 85 degrees plus so I'm wondering if anyone has installed vents in the faring or even cut holes in them to duct air back around the floorboards? Also any suggestions of what was wrong with the steering on that bike? We bought an 07 RSTD w/15 months of remaining warranty. I have added the wind wing air deflectors and hwy pegs which these photos do not show, the rest of the mods were on the bike at time of purchase. I also have bought a Shark stereo and have to get it installed this next week. BTW the deflectors fixed the hot feet issue along with the highway pegs.
15. If you are looking for more comfort for your passenger check this out. I recently installed a pair of Kuryakyn highway pegs for the passenger on my Goldwing. My wife has now ridden with them a couple of times and she said they do make the ride more comfortable and they allow her to move her feet around. They don't get in my way at all and when not in use they just fold flat against the side cover and they add more chrome. Here are some photos. Dennis
16. We just got our Royal Star Venture (what do I call it, a Venture? An RSV?) and we're both noticing WOW it's HOT on the feet. He has highway pegs so he's fine but I'm wondering if anyone has any solution for the passenger??? I really cannot STAND hot feet and would love passenger highway pegs - are there such a thing? I know you can get passenger foot rests to give you different positions from Diamond but is there anything I can get that puts them out into the wind? Thanks!!!

18. Deer Story - A Farmer's Tale Why we shoot deer in the wild: (A letter from someone who wants to remain anonymous, who farms, writes well and actually tried this) I had this idea that I could rope a deer, put it in a stall, feed it up on corn for a couple of weeks, then kill it and eat it. The first step in this adventure was getting a deer. I figured that, since they congregate at my cattle feeder and do not seem to have much fear of me when we are there (a bold one will sometimes come right up and sniff at the bags of feed while I am in the back of the truck not 4 feet away), it should not be difficult to rope one, get up to it and toss a bag over its head (to calm it down) then hog tie it and transport it home. I filled the cattle feeder then hid down at the end with my rope. The cattle, having seen the roping thing before, stayed well back. They were not having any of it. After about 20 minutes, my deer showed up-- 3 of them. I picked out a likely looking one, stepped out from the end of the feeder, and threw my rope. The deer just stood there and stared at me. I wrapped the rope around my waist and twisted the end so I would have a good hold. The deer still just stood and stared at me, but you could tell it was mildly concerned about the whole rope situation. I took a step towards it, it took a step away. I put a little tension on the rope, and then received an education. The first thing that I learned is that, while a deer may just stand there looking at you funny while you rope it, they are spurred to action when you start pulling on that rope. That deer EXPLODED. The second thing I learned is that pound for pound, a deer is a LOT stronger than a cow or a colt. A cow or a colt in that weight range I could fight down with a rope and with some dignity. A deer-- no Chance. That thing ran and bucked and twisted and pulled. There was no controlling it and certainly no getting close to it. As it jerked me off my feet and started dragging me across the ground, it occurred to me that having a deer on a rope was not nearly as good an idea as I had originally imagined. The only upside is that they do not have as much stamina as many other animals. A brief 10 minutes later, it was tired and not nearly as quick to jerk me off my feet and drag me when I managed to get up. It took me a few minutes to realize this, since I was mostly blinded by the blood flowing out of the big gash in my head. At that point, I had lost my taste for corn-fed venison. I just wanted to get that devil creature off the end of that rope. I figured if I just let it go with the rope hanging around its neck, it would likely die slow and painfully somewhere. At the time, there was no love at all between me and that deer. At that moment, I hated the thing, and I would venture a guess that the feeling was mutual. Despite the gash in my head and the several large knots where I had cleverly arrested the deer's momentum by bracing my head against various large rocks as it dragged me across the ground, I could still think clearly enough to recognize that there was a small chance that I shared some tiny amount of responsibility for the situation we were in. I didn't want the deer to have to suffer a slow death, so I managed to get it lined back up in between my truck and the feeder - a little trap I had set before hand...kind of like a squeeze chute. I got it to back in there and I started moving up so I could get my rope back. Did you know that deer bite? They do! I never in a million years would have thought that a deer would bite somebody, so I was very surprised when ..... I reached up there to grab that rope and the deer grabbed hold of my wrist. Now, when a deer bites you, it is not like being bit by a horse where they just bite you and slide off to then let go. A deer bites you and shakes its head--almost like a pit bull. They bite HARD and it hurts. The proper thing to do when a deer bites you is probably to freeze and draw back slowly. I tried screaming and shaking instead. My method was ineffective. It seems like the deer was biting and shaking for several minutes, but it was likely only several seconds. I, being smarter than a deer (though you may be questioning that claim by now), tricked it. While I kept it busy tearing the tendons out of my right arm, I reached up with my left hand and pulled that rope loose. That was when I got my final lesson in deer behavior for the day. Deer will strike at you with their front feet. They rear right up on their back feet and strike right about head and shoulder level, and their hooves are surprisingly sharp... I learned a long time ago that, when an animal -like a horse --strikes at you with their hooves and you can't get away easily, the best thing to do is try to make a loud noise and make an aggressive move towards the animal. This will usually cause them to back down a bit so you can escape. This was not a horse. This was a deer, so obviously, such trickery would not work. In the course of a millisecond, I devised a different strategy. I screamed like a girl and tried to turn and run. The reason I had always been told NOT to try to turn and run from a horse that paws at you is that there is a good chance that it will hit you in the back of the head. Deer may not be so different from horses after all, besides being twice as strong and 3 times as evil, because the second I turned to run, it hit me right in the back of the head and knocked me down. Now, when a deer paws at you and knocks you down, it does not immediately leave. I suspect it does not recognize that the danger has passed. What they do instead is paw your back and jump up and down on you while you are laying there crying like a little girl and covering your head. I finally managed to crawl under the truck and the deer went away. So now I know why when people go deer hunting they bring a rifle with a scope......to sort of even the odds!! All these events are true so help me God.. A Educated Farmer

20. He was beside me at a red light and swithced to my lane behind me when the light turned. Traffic was slow and someone rear ended him while behind me. I saw it all in my mirrow. He stayed on his feet somehow as the bike went tearing and rolling into the other lane. Lots of bike damage but the rider seemed fine. How he rode it out on his feet was impressive. Bike parts all over the road. In one sense, he was lucky.
21. spent saturday tinkering in the garage, removed the diamond leveling links, i am 5'10" and 32 inch inseam, was on balls of my feet most of the time at a stop, not what i would consider to be ideal. so off came the links, opened up fairing and raised forks in the triple tree, reassembled and rode off. first impressions: feet now flat on the ground, much more stable stops. bike handles better at low speeds than with links, no high speed changes in handling. just a more confident feeling when stopping with a 900 lb machine. was well worth the time and effort spent....

OMG!

Yesterday I went ou to run some erands and the bike was feeling great. On the way home apperantly I took the turn into my sub-division a little sharper than I ususlly do and it finally happened. I drug the right floorboard. In all the years I have been riding I've never had anything on the ground except the tires and my feet. It sure did get my attention. The scraping sound sent chills up my spine and I think my heart skipped a beat. Now I know what the limit is on my bike and what to expect when it happens.
23. Several years ago I went to Walmart and picked up a couple of fog/running lights for about $16. I mounted them in the front vents which are useless to me with the lower fairings removed and I really like how well they work. They give a good pattern out to about 100 feet and also give good light down around my feet. Since I have them wired to the battery thru a fuse and switch, if for some reason I blew the main 40 amp fuse, which I did once, I still have lights and I think that is a great safety feature. I also upgraded my MKI headlight to a MKII light assemble and with a PIAA headlight bulb, I actually have pretty good lights for an 83 model. RandyA
24. well i came home about 2 hours ago after picking up some choke and puke for dinner. when i saw a nice officer looking over the motorcycle. i parked the car got out and said officer is there something wrong? he said well i been driving by here for the past week and noticed this motorcycle is still parked in the same spot. so im writing up a tow it sticker? i asked did you run the plates to see who it might belong too? he said im about to do that? i said well im the owner and i live right there. in that apartment thats about 14 feet from the bike. is my front door. he said oh well you should move that bike so we know its not stolen and abandon? i didnt want to tell him it was coverd last 6 days so what makes him think someone just up and left it? and it has current tabs? today i pulled the cover off. to do some cleaning on it before i install the master that will be comming shortly.. and explained i do not have off street parking here. as do the other 2 renters. but to make him happy i fired up the bike to show it runs. left it in neutral and pushed it 5 feet backwards. therefore moving the bike. he said ok it runs and it has been moved. i said yep thanks. he then said i will be back in 72 hours to make sure its moved again? damn what a jerk. if he would have put that damn super sticky red ticket on my new windshield. i might have went to jail.
25. Just got back from the Ride for Dad in Victoria. Saw a few Ventures there. Had about 1000 bikes. Impressive parade. The cops had all the streets blocked off so we could keep together. They estimate $100,000.00 raised for prostate cancer research. Going on the Ride for Life next month. I think I was a little insulted on the way there and on the way back. I went over the Malahat from Crofton. It climbs from sea level to 1200 feet fairly quickly. I got challenged by a guy in a Prius! Realy! Not a chance fella. Then on the way back I got challenged by a guy on a harley. I think he was discouraged when I pulled up beside him when he was at full speed and shifted gears.
