Has anyone ever had a problem with their bike cutting out at wot? Mine runs good up to reline as long as I don't go to wot. It feels like it has a rev limiter at about 5500 rpm. It has no jerking or missing just feels like it falls on its face. I have checked everything except this vacuum timing sensor. Where is it located? Curtis Traylor

It is windy and feels like 17°F. Snow tomorrow. It will be in the mid 20's for a high for the next 2 or 3 days. This afternoon, I plugged my RSV battery on trickle charge. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/05/72ff461ad8047aba8010ff8e039022f7.jpg

guys, i've been gleaning info off of alot of you trying to find answer to my handling woes... read about how tires help and so on. i keep trying but i'm not there yet. when i cross an uneven road surface the bike feels wiggly. i feel it basically at all speeds. its like the bike is hinged in the middle. i have the super fork brace on and a new shinko tour master up front, i'll be putting a new rear shinko on this week. maybe that will help. i've tried all tire pressures and it helps a touch but not enough. i'm convinced something is wrong with the front forks..i've looked for cracks in the frame and don't see any. i've put over 2k miles on the bike and love it but this wiggle is killing me and if i could get this resolved then the bike would be perfect. i know the bike went down at some point. the tell tale highway bar crack in the plastic elbow, the crack in the right fairing and so on. i've noticed the handle bars are cocked to the left a touch and it is likely because of bike going down, i noticed that when i removed the front tire that i thought the right front fork was twisted a touch thus making the bolt hard to remove and reinstall since the alignment was off a bit. i also hear some clunking or some kind of looseness in the fork tubes when i bounce the front end gently when its on the rear stand, but when i grab and twist everything it all feels solid. if i have to put a whole new front end on there, i will. i can't trust the way this thing feels although it does feel pretty good in the curves, but to switch lanes is like gambling with your life. i don't know if anybody is close to me that can coach me or give me some counsel or if there is a tech day that i can get some experts to take a look. any suggestions??

... and comparatively speaking feels fine after the C-section. The worst she feels is hungry. She's not even using the morphine pump that much. Nurses won't let her eat anything more than chicken broth and crackers yet...I'm hoping that I can sneak in a nice steak dinner for her tomorrow. And now, pics... A couple of which confirms that he is, in fact, a boy. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v281/GAWildKat/JT%20pics/

Ok,after following Pegscrapers article on doing the 32 mm Carb upgrade on my 98 RSTD,I must say the Royal Star has never run better. The thing pulls at all RPM's better than it did and just generally feels waaay better! I'm a shade tree mechanic at best and I was able (with Lynn's help) to get it done.Even though I did the Bigfoot mod at the same time as the carb upgrade,I ended up closing off the cutout in my airbox as it was sucking too much air.(Full throttle hollow bog sound, ran lean, didn't pull well at higher RPM.)I closed the opening and it made a huge difference. I decided not to Jet up the mains yet but I did jet up the primaries to a 17.5.I may try to jet up one step just to see.It feels pretty good now,I've put maybe 300 miles on since with more to come...I have RK pipes with the center poked out about an inch.Sounds good enough but I'd like more volume. Oh and I sent my seat to Rick Butler while I was down too and all I can say is before anyone buys a new seat, try this first. It feels great.I've only done a couple of 150 mile days so far and I've feel like I can do some serious miles without the old hot spots in the butt that I used to feel...So,thanks to Lynn Nichols and Rick Butler and all the great tech on this site,I will be enjoying my Royal Star even more now!!

I installed the 2012 stock Harley muffler's all went on well but never thought they would be that loud for stock muffler's. They have a great sound to them and you know when you get on it. They have a nice rumble at idle and feels like it gained some power too. Hope GF is ok with them or I might have to get a little quiter.

Just put a new Venom X on the front and now front end feels like I'm riding on tar snakes. It isn't any better than the old tire that was really worn, tracks to easily on any grooves in the road. Checked cold tire pressure at 38. Any ideas why it feels this way, leaving on trip in three days and not feeling real comfortable especially at slow speeds.

My breather plug is seeping on my '89....I noticed in the shop manual this plug can be replaced.....anyone done this before? Can the plug be pulled out w/ a pair of pliers or the like, or is there some special tool required? Considering how tight it feels, I wonder if I can get it our w/o breaking off a part of the plug. Thanks in advance, Greg

It looks like we are going to update the Canadian money yet again. This newest edition is definitely eye catching and looks to be tough on security, I am wondering about it being a plastic polymer and how it feels when spending, lol! Just wanted to give a shout out to skydoc, where to start, well over the last month or so the clutch has slipped a couple times but figured it would hold till winter since the riding season in northern mi will be ending soon. Well last wed it got bad (I ride 2 up and with a trailer often and have 74000 on the bike) so I called 50 stealers to find out no one stocks the clutch disks and no one could get me in for at least 2 weeks, oh and wanted 450-600 to do the clutch!!! So I made a call to skydoc 20 mins before his post office closed so he RACED there to ship my full upgrade kit. Got it first thing friday morning, now I do alot of my own work but untill I do something once theres always that lil voice "man I dont want to screw this up" but I wasnt waiting 2 weeks either. So I dove in, with one phone call to Earl to check something things went great I really cant believe I was nervous at all. Very straight forward and very good instructions. And now it feels more like a sport bike to me the clutch feels great, the lever maybe a slight bit harder to pull but after 10 mins didnt notice at all. So to anyone thinking of doing this upgrade I say dive in and save yourself the money on the stealer!!!! Just my 2 cents....

left work today laid the bike down on right side very easy while in 1st gear probably 7mph I pick it up, shake it off, ride home. I no longer have 4th and 5th gears . the bike shifts 1,2,3, and that's it. Shifter feels just like it is in top gear.Everything feels normal it just only a 3 speed now. Anyone hear of this before . thanks -

WOMEN A real woman is a man's best friend. She will never stand him up and never let him down. She will reassure him when he feels insecure and comfort him after a bad day. She will inspire him to do things he never thought he could do; to live without fear and forget regret. She will enable him to express his deepest emotions and give in to his most intimate desires. She will make sure he always feels as though he's the most handsome man in the room and will enable him to be the most confident, sexy, seductive and invincible... No wait...Sorry. I'm thinking of whiskey. It's whiskey that does all that crap. Never mind.

So yesterday after looking at my outdoor parked Royal star for weeks in disgust. My paint doesnt have that showroom shine I see those harley guys have and yes my bike has 3 times the miles that thier do i still feel awful. I was reluctant to buy the mothers wax cause I am too cheap and at $13 I could buy 3 other bottles and get the job done. well that isnt the case. i have tried turtle wax, Ice, and a few other bike specific waxs liquid and paste. This one truly brought back that deep black showroom shine. the only thing that gives it away is the small rust spot and deeper scratches on the tank. The haze is gone and it feels amazing. the side untouched feels rough whiel the waxed sides is smooth. Sorry no pics yet guys because just as I was applying the second coat to the chrome on the side stand side . April showers began , just to make my day. Before and after pics to cme. MEGUAIRS all the way

OK...don't hate on me...this will be a VAGUE comment/question/thoughts about the handling of my bike. I still have the stock tires on my bike. I have risers installed. My tires are inflated (both front and back) at 35 PSI. I know that is low for those tires (I think I have my log book stating the front should be 38 and the back 40). Anyway (and here's the vague part)...lately it "feels" like the front end of the bike is "loose" or sometimes it feels like the back is squirrely...other times the bike rides so smooth and stable. And I don't think it is the road...I am pretty sure it is either the BIKE or my IMAGINATION....but it's enough that it rattles me a little. So my question...would another 3-5lbs of air in each tire make that much difference? The bike is only 6 months old...could it be the steering bearings? Any ideas anyone?

Well, not REALLY, it just feels like it. I put a set of Diamond R's leveling struts on my Venture-WOW what a change!!!! This is without doubt the BEST $100 I've EVER spent on a motorcycle (and I've spent a chunk on motorcycles over the past 40 years:grandpa:. This makes a huge difference in the way the bike handles, feels like it's lost 200 lbs at low speed. A GREAT investment (and great customer service!!!!!!

I am going back to a MT just as fast as I can. I installed a Nexen a couple of weeks ago. The first thing I noticed is the bike seemed very light to push. It was great on the tar snakes too, could not even feel a tar snake in the rear. But that's about the only good things I could say. I lost all confidence in control ability. at 70 or higher I got the wiggle, which feels very similar to being in the draft of a big rig. On a 90 degree curve at some point in the curve the bike would want to turn even deeper/sharper and I would have to correct for that.I assuming that's the sharper edge on the CT causing that. BUT the biggest factor is the CT wanting to follow even the smallest depression or rise in the road to the point that the bike feels like its constantly wandering over the road. I have this strange desire for the feeling of complete control on the bike with no surprises so its back to a MT for me.
