Some of you who have been around since the early days will remember Dan Lowery. Dan was one of the original officers when I started the "Venturers" site. I honestly don't remember if he ever joined this site or not but he and I did remain friends over the years. We rode together a couple of times when I lived in Dallas. I got word today that Dan passed away on January 9th which also happened to be his birthday. Dan was a good man and will be missed by those who knew him. Please say a prayer for his family and friends.

As I have gotten older I am not into this time of year very much. But this year my son and his family will not be able to make it home ( going to his wifes family ). My daughter and her family have other plans for Christmas also, and my good friends are leaving town till after the first of the year. To top it all off, yesterday could not have been any worse. High demands, workflow issues and everything just going wrong. What a mess. And I knew that I would still have effects of it to look forward to today. Well, when I got home last night I'm sitting there thinking about everything that happened and the upcoming holidays. I became so depressed that I got up and walked over to the couch. I climbed all the way up on top of the back of it and I'm standing up there looking around ready to jump and end it all when I see a bottle of scotch sitting on the bar. I think why not. So I climb all the way down to have one last drink....... I'm fine now. Merry Christmas Everyone

I am looking for help from our Venture rider friends in Georgia. We just bought our first American Mastiff Puppy. There is a family in Georgia that purchased theirs one month earlier. The family has 5 children ages 17-3. Just found out the mom has had surgery and will be out of work for at least 8 weeks and the Dad just had his knee cap dislocated and is looking at surgery and unable to work at this time. Our American Mastiff friends are looking to help out by donating gift cards, money and presents for the kids. I need to know what grocery stores, clothing stores, ext.. are in Georgia. The family is having to get rid of their new Mastiff puppy which is heartbreaking for the family, If my family can help Corie and Adam give their kids a better Christmas they will be so much appreciative. Thank you Georgia Friends. God Bless Tinystar

I am thankful for many things, far too many to list here, but I will list a few. I am thankful for my Lord and Savior. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for my health. I am thankful for my second family here at VR. I am thankful for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I am thankful for our soldiers who fight for our freedom. I am thankful for our country that allows us freedoms others don't have. In closing Charlene and I wish each and everyone a festive Thanksgiving.

Thank goodness to the Man up above I have now made my 1 year anniversary from taking out that 8 point buck last year (sure wish I had those antlers!), back into riding a bit and making it back into full time work and $$ producing! I want to say THANK YOU to everyone on here that bought a raffle ticket for the "Aussie Annie" trailer last year to help us thru this time, it was amazing and truly let us know how we are appreciated around here. I have no other "family" like you guys that know how to make a guy feel after the devastating effects that happened. We shall be happy to see a lot of you next year via MD and the Int'l Rally! Thanks again, Dano and Rose :bighug:

Just wanted to say THANKS!....I have just enjoyed another year here. Great folks like you have made the $12.00 that i just paid all the more Valuable. I haven't spent as much time here as i once did; but, every time i "open the front door" to this place I find you, and you treat me like a friend or family. Just wanted to say thanks for that.

Completed a "happier" mission today. Welcomed back for a Chief Petty Officer from his 2nd tour in Afghanistan. Seeing his wife and son hugging him home, was well worth the time spent on the flag line at the airport. Watching all the other passengers clapping as he walked through the flag line to his family was priceless. I challenge everybody to join their local chapter of the PGR. Yes, some of the Missions are sad. Escorting the body of my friend Sgt Brian Walker was the hardest motorcycle ride I have ever taken. But, the look of appreciation, the handshakes and the thank you's from family members are payment in gold. It's an incredible group of people serving those who have served us. I now ride in honor of two heroes that I knew. So, join. It's free. You don't have to be ex-military, heck you don't have to even ride. Just be willing to stand as a thank you for those who have stood for us. Check it out: http://www.patriotguard.org/Home/tabid/53/Default.aspx The only piece of equipment that is a must have, is a big DARK pair of sunglasses. It helps hide the "allergies."

Jack may get upset with me doing this - as often he is a very private person - but "we" all are family and I would ask if we could make a moment for he and his family. I received this e-mail from him this morning: Dear Friends, Last evening at aproximately 8 o'clock Nadine lost her battle with liver cancer and peacefully passed on to a better place. We were married for 45 years, and she was the love of my life. In passing she was surrounded by family and friends. Memorial service will be held on July 21st at Trinity Life Center, Sacramento Ca. More details to follow.. Jack Barbara and I send our love and prayers to you and your family, Jack. May Nadine rest in peace.

News in today's Time Colonist paper. A woman pled guilty to impaired driving causing death. She went over the centerline and hit a motorcyclist head on just outside Victoria B.C. She was apparently high on booze and crack cocaine at the time. The motorcyclist had recently moved out here from Ontario and his family was still back there. Two rows of the public gallery in the courthouse were filled with bikers showing support for the family.
