Been chasing a coolant leak from the rear left hand cyl its been droping down and sitting on the rubber cover for the clutch bleed screw.Today i decided to remove the false air fin on that side to see if i could find where it was coming from, just below the 3 holes that hold the fins in place is a 4th threaded hole that was wet around it wiped clean and dry thought i should go for a quick blast to be sure thats the correct leak.I anly got a Klm from home and coolant was pissing out got home asap. Found out that this is a welsh plug of some sort it and it blew out under pressure must screw in and snap off under tension i imagine. Two things lernt today 1/ Yamaha parts are really expensive $55 for the plug 2/ Dont ride your bike with the false fins off as they are designed to hold this plug in place More money more dramas just love it but would rather be riding

So, there I was today riding over to one of my favorite BBQ joints on one of the Texas Farm-to-Market roads doing 70, when I get a face-full of my '83 VR false tank cover. Managed to grab it before it went sailing, and apparently the small ABS "tab" under the gas tank filler cap had failed. It had vibrated forward until it became un-clipped from the front attach point. Good thing I had a roll of duct tape in the saddlebag. Does anyone happen to have a good "permanent" fix for that little sucker??

Im starting some serious spring cleaning on my First Gen and having trouble getting some of the covers/body pieces off so I can clean under them. Before I go all "He-Man" on them and break something....I thought I'd ask, "is there a guide somewhere on how all the covers and false tank and body covers come off?" Otherwise I'm afraid I will be posting asking whats the best epoxy to use? Any advice would be welcome!

Hey everyone, I am relocating the TCI on top of the Air Box. My ride an 89 Venture. I rerouted the wires to allow for enough clearance, but I cannot get enough clearance to comfortably put the false tank back on without real stressing the false tank. The best fit I have gotten so far is the TCI sitting atop the airbox, ear touching the battery ( I have a little extra room in the batter box because I installed the Odesy), connectors facing the left side fairing (The AM-FM Side). If I cut the ears off the box, I think I will have it. However, I am reluctant to do this, unless I am going to be successful in my relocation. HELP anyone who has done this.
