Ok Fellas, I'm working on an '86 with 38000 miles on it and we are checking the valve clearances. Now I have always checked for valve clearances with the lobes facing upward 180 degrees away from the valves. The manual, like everything Yamaha does, is complicated to say the least. I find when I measure it my way that all the clearances are good except the intakes on #2. How the manual states is to go by TDC and the lobes should be facing away from eachother. My issue with this is that the lobe is already starting to load up on the shim as I can't get the feeler gauge all the way through. I need some help for you boys in how you have done this and what you know...PLEASE

I'm doing my 52,000 mile valve adjustment. My dilema is this. The manual states that when #1 cylinder is at top dead center you will see the timing mark through the viewing hole and the cam lobes will be facing away from each other. Mine lean in towards each other. When turning the engine 180 degrees and so forth it all works out that when you hit #3 cylinder you see the other single timing mark so I guess I'm doing it right. I noticed this last time nd chalked it up to a mispraint in the manual. Anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone tried mounting a Stebel on the front forks just under the tree to get it facing forward for maximum impact on Cagers

Newfies are the Brightest A company was looking to hire someone for an important position so they interviewed dozens of applicants and narrowed their search down to three people from different parts of Canada . In an attempt to pick one of them, they decided to give them all the same question to answer within 24 hours, and the one with the best answer would get the job. The question was: A man and a woman are in bed, nude. The woman is lying on her side with her back facing the man, and the man is lying on his side facing the woman's back. What is the man's name? After the 24 hours was up... the three were brought in to give their answers. The first from Saskatchewan , says, "My answer is... there is no answer." The second, from Alberta , says, "My answer is... that there is no way to determine the answer with the information we were given. The third one from Newfoundland says, "I'm not exactly sure, but... I have it narrowed down to two names. It's either: Willie Turner or Willie Nailer." The Newfoundlander got the job.

I think I know how you are supposed to adjust your headlight, but not sure where you do the adjustment on the headlight. I see two small recessed horizontal screws one on each side at the bottom of the headlight. If this is the adjustment then, facing the headlight, which screw is for the vertical and which for the horizontal? I've tried turning them and can't see the difference. If this is not it, then where? Thanks for any help!

Hey all, bought kuryakyn longhorn offset dually highway pegs 7980. Just can't seem to get them exactly where I want them. Couple questions? -The clamp that snugs to the engine guard. Does it make a diff. where it goes? Either facing forward or backward? My foot seems to be catching the longarm part with the clamp facing backtowards the bike. -any torque specs on the bolts? I have tightened it to all most breaking point & the clamp is still slipping off the engine guard. (1") Maybe a piece of rubber inside the clamp?? & finally any pics of how you may have yours installed? Thanks Gang,

hey guy's, The manual I have state's that at TDC on the compression stroke on #1 cylinder that it can be acknowledged by the cam lobe's being opposite or facing away from each other. When I achieve TDC the cam lobe's are facing each other. Am I missing something hear or has 15 years of wrenching on cage's diminished my sense's? Is there a procedure listed here somewhere or have any of you done your own valve shim check? Thank's for any info, Jake.
