So I'm heading home from a Tim Horton's where our club had just met. I'm on a 4 lane section of what is mostly a two lane road and getting ready for a left turn to the exit ramp leading to a 4 lane limited access highway (I hate when they cheap out and put the exit and entrance ramps side by side like that!). As I prepare for my left hand turn, I see a Jeep Wagoneer or some such, with out of province plates, come barrelling up the ramp from the 4 lane. I slowed and checked the driver's head and, sure enough, he's looking behind me and just rolls through the stop sign at a good speed and directly into my path. By now I'm on the brakes and the horn and the a**hole gives me a dirty look - I guess he didn't like me honking. I swear, it took every ounce of willpower I had to keep from hanging a right (There was no oncoming traffic and I had the time and the room) and chasing him down. A few good kicks into his car's pretty blue doors (Or preferably his ugly face!) would have felt soooooooo good. But, once again, I realized that I'm the one who would have had the chat with the men in blue so I swore at him (Had to do something - he was too far to hear any way) an continued on my way. What a week - still don't know what's happening with the wife's car after Sunday's deer encounter and now this. Hope to relax in Port Dover tomorrow for the 13th. I need a break about now. Andy

I hate to be the one to re-post a thread but I give up. I have been searching for actual 1/4 mile & 0-60 time for the 2005+ RSTD for over a year now and keep coming up empty handed. I know that these bikes aren’t made for the strip but these are figure I like to know on any vehicle I own. I have seen a couple of places that has said something about the 6 second range 0-60 but that number doesn’t seem correct. The only mod's done to my bike that I am aware of is a pair of BUB slip ons and it seems way quicker than a mid 6 0-60 run. There was one occasion were I pulled up behind a Cherokee SRT8 at a on ramp for the high way with a nice Borla exhaust and as soon as I stopped he start revving it up. Normally I wouldn't pay any attention to it but I wanted to see how quick one was off the line in person. Knowing I was going to see the Jeep in action was enough for me to try and give him a run for his money. Well any ways when the light changed he laid the hammer down and I dumped the clutch in chase but to my amazement next thing I know I was changing lanes and he was slowly disappearing in my mirror. I slowed down when I hit 70 and just went on about my business but right before my exit he shot back up beside me trying to get me two give him a second try but I just gave him a thumbs up and got off my exit (it wasn't worth passing up Bass Pro). I know a lot of people would think a jeep would be no comparison for a bike but the SRT8 is an AWD capable of sub 5 second 0-60 runs. Also they pretty much eliminates the issue of a good or bad driver, even though it has over 400hp with its AWD launching and wheel spin is not a problem. But anyways if I could leave that jeep sit then the numbers I have been reading seems like they are off by a bit so if anyone would has any personal experience or knows or read of any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times I would greatly appreciate it.

Got off work and hit the interstate at 11:30 last night. My entrance ramp lane becomes the exit only lane so i stayed put. I noticed a semi to my left ahead of me but no problem since my lane is an exit only. I went down to adjust my coat with my left hand as i came up beside the semi. As i was bringing my left hand back up to the bars i saw a set of headlights in my left mirror. at first i thought i cleared the semi but then realized i had not cleared the semi. in a flash an hd ultra blows between me and the semi splitting the lane. it happened so fast. I always thought it would be a cage that took me out. it wasn't the scariest thing that has happend in 23 years of riding but certainly was one of my closest calls. Would have ended back in the trauma room i had just got done working in!

It was a beautiful day so I checked my bike out, bathed it, took some pics for the gallery and hit the road. It was a wonderful ride until a heavy crosswind caught me on I-65 and my fake tank top went sailing. I stopped and picked it up and scooted for an exit. Unfourtunately when I pulled off the exit, my short inseam kept me on my tippy toes and it started going down on the right side. :scared: I managed to throw that foot down and after two hernias, stopped the fall and manhandled it back up. How the heck can I lower this thing an inch or two?! I found that the tab on the top had been cracked almost through and the wind finished it. I am going to try some ABS glue. She is still in one piece, no new scratches and I am going to go lay down until all my muscles stop hurting.

Today I was on my way to my mother-in-laws, she was having a birthday party for my youngest daughter just turned 16. I was getting off the cloverleaf exit in tifton ga. Its a real hairpin turn, that I really love to lean through, you know scrub the floorboards, well today I came off the interstate around 50 MPH, and found a surprize in the middle of this exit, OIL a nice large patch. Well with the floorboards all but scubbing, there was no way to miss it, the brickstone on the frount just went to sliding, the kumho on the back did not slide at all, it held all the way through the patch. Now I have been ridding since age 13, 37 years, I don't remember ever having this situation before. I have slid the rear around but not the frount. The only thing I could think to do was to stand the bike up, it came up and I almost went across the ditch into the access road. I kept it up but don't know how. I did not touch the brakes at all, pretty sure that would have put me down. had to change underwear afterward. will slow down there from now on. Gregg

On Tuesday the 25th, there will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Greg Darling. The service will be at 4pm in Roswell Ga, with visitation with the family from 3pm. I talked to his wife, Valerie, and told her I intend to ride to the service. She said "Thank you. Greg would like that, and no suits, wear your riding gear and bring your helmet in with you!" I intend to leave my house at about 3:15 for a leisurely ride to the service, arriving about 3:40. I would love for any of you in the area that can make it to join me. I think we could stop for a bite to eat after. Dragonrider has said that he will be here and I believe Blackjack and Fly-N-Lo might make it as well. If you would like to join us and would like my address for your GPS, or directions for your 2D Nav, just give me a call or PM me. Below is the info from Valerie's email to me: As Greg wished, there will be a Memorial Service for him as a Celebration of his Life. What does the trans. dept. of your city/state use for lane dividers on the roads in your area? Here in Houston they use what are called "buttons". They are circular approx. 3", about 1/2 to 1" high in the center and made out of a ceramic I think. They use them where an exit ramp seperates from the main part of the road to divide the lanes. When they are wet, they are just like greased rocks. The problem is at exit ramps they put them in groups of 8-10 about 1' apart and you can't get between them with a bike. Doesn't affect cars as they have 4 wheels but they scare the you know what out of me. I called and got someone who actually understands what I was saying about those things when they are wet and the effect they have on motorcycles. He said that he will check on them as they now have an epoxy paint they can use instead. I know that wet paint is just about as bad, but not quite as these things are raised and rounded. Just wondering. Don H.
