Incredible is all I can say. We rode 550 from Durango to Montrose and passed through Silverton and Ouray with a side trip to Telluride. For me this ride ranks right up there with the "Going to the Sun" road in Glacier, maybe better. The elevation rose to a little over 11,000 feet. Everyone needs to go over this road at least once. I've placed some of the day's photos on my web site and they can be seen at www.traynorphoto.com/day7 Dennis

I have borrowed a friends GPS and one thing I thought it would have is elevation. My son bought my grandson a GPS several years ago and it was pretty basic, but it had elevation for the location you were. Evidently, this Garmin does not have that feature. Do other GPS's have the elevation feature? RandyA

We left Phoenix this morning and pulled into San Diego this afternoon. Great trip across the desert on I-8. I've never seen such amazing landscape. Surprised to see snow at the 4000 foot elevation as we crossed the last mountain range. Weather here is beautiful today.

Garmin released software update version 3.80 on 12/20/07 (from version 3.30) for the Zumo 550. The one thing that I really like about it is that elevation is now five digits instead of just four. It use to be that if you went over the higher mountain passes, the elevation just showed "----". www.zumoforums.com has the info.
