Hi, I just aquired a 85 Venture and the bike is running pretty rough. Will only run and idle with the choke on and will not rev over 3000rpm. If you throttle it quickly the bike will sputter and stall, if you slowly feather the throttle the bikes RPM will climb. I'm 99% certain that there are 2 issues. 1) Carb is dirty. I have taken the airbox off, and sprayed the carbs down and also ran a tank of seafoam with premium fuel through the bike. This seemed to have helped alot but it still won't run over 3000RPM. 2) After reading alot of posts on here I think I have a bad diaphragm. I say this because one of the sliders has no vacuum and slides back and forth with 0 effort as the other 3 have vacuum and you can hear it as you slide the slide. A couple questions... Is there anyone is Winnipeg that would be willing to help me clean these carbs and replace the diaphragm (I would definitely pay you for your time), and if not, are my assumptions correct with the carb diaphragm being shot seeing that the slide moves with 0 effort? Thanks in advance! Ben Also will sell this bike for $1975.00 OBO

The Washcloth Ladies this has to be read, laughed at and passed on. There is not a woman alive today who won't crack up over this! I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45am. The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in 'that area' to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?" I didn't respond. After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal ... some shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mummy, where's my washcloth?" I told her to get another one from the cupboard. She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it."

I have a '99 RSV and in this off season I want to update my bike to make it more comfortable for my wife (rider). Wondering what suggestions you guys have and what you have done to make it a little better. Wondering about armrests. Are they work the effort? How about other suggestions? Thanks, Scott....

Were you the guy who brought all the wing riders to Memphis? Thanks for doing so if it was you. I wasnt able to catch up to them after the tour and I wanted to talk to the guy who challenged us for next year. If you can send me his email address, I would sure appreciate it. Got to get a head start on those guys for next years effort, they sound like a pretty serious bunch of riders with their fundraising abilities....................:mo money:

We finally made it home from the 5th Annual St. Jude Meet & Eat & Tour. Had a grand time, met plenty of new faces and we have been challenged, I will tell more about that later. Its after midnite and need to get to bed so we can get up and make it to church on time.. To recap the ride we had 16 bikes, 1 cage, and a total of 26 bodies. Our final donation for 2010 was $1,876.00. Very good considering we didnt have Vogel to help with the totals......... Thanks again to everyone who donated, bid, contributed, and supported this effort, it was a great team effort by all.

Well the higher powers at BP are cutting costs now. A whole bunch of good folks got laid off....most of them were in the wildlife recovery category. No effort is being spared by BP to reclaim the oil from the Gulf....and make money from that. Boomer....who's more than a little disgusted about the situation.

EDIT: Ok. Just found out this is a computer graphic thing with Snopes verifying. Oh well. Looked pretty damn neat. You have got to watch this. I am simply awe struck at what these people did. I'm no musician yet this has floored me. Turn your sound on for this. Read this first, then watch. This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones. This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa .. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft , Iowa ...Yes, farm equipment! It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian. Just to give everyone a heads up. As the year is quickly winding down, I will be starting to do some site clean up and deleting a lot of threads that have past their shelf life. Will be leaving the threads that pertain to maintenance issues or good buy sites. But, if you see some of your threads gone, it is simply because of an effort to free up space on the server. Hope everyone had a great Christmas or festive season and wishing one and all a great new year. Russell

For those that were with us last year, you may recall that we sent packages to our members and members family members who were in harms way last year. Was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing the same thing this year. I thing we expanded it a bit last year and sent packages to friends and neighbours who were over there. This year I would suggest keeping it to our members and the members family members. Would also suggest that if anyone wants to make a donation to this effort, that we keep the donations to 10-15$. Anyway....... Just thought I would run this up the flag pole to see how many would salute it.
