In about a week, we will be leaving California and moving to New Mexico. I have been here in California for 38 years. Things are just getting to expensive and when you are on fixed income, you got to do what you have to do. Also the school system here is getting pretty bad. They are letting go of a bunch of teachers and the class room size to way to large for the kids to get a decent education. The people here are in a hurry to get no where. We will be living in a town called Polvadera which is 7 miles north of Socorro. My brother lives in Albuquerque and works in Socorro. He works like 2 to 4 days a month (E.R.Doctor) and has a 2nd gen venture (2005). So hope fully we will be riding as much as we can. As long as we keep the wives happy. They don't ride. My wife has ridden with me once and I still have imprints from her nails in my side. And that was last year. We have been there twice and both the kids and the wife love it there. I think the education will be better for the kids there than it would be here. We already have a house there on 1/2 acre and across the irigation ditch is 10 acres and a couple of horses. And the best part...........no rent. So my time will be spent working with the horses and keeping the place up. And of course some m/c riding. My cousin lives in Santa Fe and is the manager for the HD there. Do not fret, I don't plan on buying one. I am happy with my 89 VR. So with that I will say good night and happy roads to every one. Bill

Part 3 of my series on buying a used motorcycle, (something lots of people in this forum seem to enjoy doing), is out this morning on http://www.thetentacle.com , a central Maryland commentary site. My articles come out every other Tuesday, on math education or motorcycling; at this time of year, motorcycling is king. Check it out: http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=3132 Nick Diaz Middletown, MD

For my latest article in www.thetentacle.com , a regional news and commentary site, go to the following: http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=3110 . Some of you have been very kind with your comments about my biweekly columns, for which I thank you! Math education doesn't interest me as much as motorcycling at this time of year. Some folks may remember that I write a biweekly column for a local (central Maryland) news and commentary site. My topics are usually math education or motorcycling. Lately I've been concentrating on education topics, but now that spring is around the corner, motorcycling will take up most of my columns. My latest contribution, back to motorcycling, is at http://thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=3041 . Nick Diaz Middletown, MD

After a summer break, I'm resuming my biweekly column for http://www.thetentacle.com , a local (central MD) commentary site, which is not motorcycle related. My topics are either motorcycling or math education. Go to http://www.thetentacle.com/author.cfm?MyAuthor=52 and click on "The Joy of Selling." For background on this piece, click on "Christmas in the Summertime." Nick Diaz Middletown, MD

Good morning, all. My name is Nick Diaz, and I'm new to this board, as I'm buying a 1998 Venture Royale this week. I've enjoyed this site in the past week or so, in anticipation of Venture ownership. I'm 60 years old and have been riding for 38 years now, and look forward to many more on my beautiful white VR. For 35 years my bride and I have been living in Frederick County, MD, where good roads abound. I'm a middle-school mathematics teacher (I know, I know, "How can you stand those middle-school brats?") Answer: Someone has to do it... One of the things I do for fun is write a biweekly column for a local news and commentary webstie known as The Tentacle -- www.thetentacle.com . My topics are either math education or motorcycling; considering this site is not a "motorcycle" website, it's neat how I get a chance to "educate" the nonmotorcycling public, with a "contrarian" point of view. Somehow I find it difficult to write about education at this time of year -- I wonder why... My latest contribution just came out this morning. Go to the following: http://www.thetentacle.com/author.cfm?MyAuthor=52 , then click on "Enjoying What Life Brings on Two Wheels." (While you're at it, click on my brief bio at the top.)
