Just wanted to pass this along for those that may be unaware, but Sena has a helmet clamp that you can simply plug in your ear buds versus using the speakers, Sena SMH-A0303 Helmet Clamp Kit for Earbuds. Amazon has it for $34.62 and free shipping. I purchased one last week and after I got it the wife wanted it for her helmet. So, I ordered another one for myself last night. Neither of us particularly cared for the speakers and loved the idea of just having the earbuds plugged in and listening to both, music and being able to talk with the push of a button with sound quality of the earbuds. When the other order comes in and the weather cooperates we will be able to do a road test!

I purchased the Sena intercom last week and installed them onto our helmets. They seem to work well. My problem is I prefer to wear earplugs. The helmets speakers are ok but, to much wind/road/engine noise. Can I retrofit a set of earbuds? I think it would be the perfect solution. Intercom with ipod quality sound.

I am always asking questions and getting great advice and tips from everyone on here...thought I would give back (if only a little). I recently spoke (in another thread) about my first longer ride and the use of the headset vs speakers vs earbuds, and how I rated each of them. Just to summarize...I rated these three options on a scale of 10. Speakers .... 4 Headset...... 2 Earbuds....... 8 (maybe even a 9 on a better set of buds) Anyway, in order to utilize the headset with earbuds you need the motorcycle adapter to convert the headset to a mini-plug. The first one I bought I paid over $50.00 for it at a 3rd party location on the net...however I found the actual vendor online and now this adapter can be had for only $24.95. Here is the company URL: http://plugup.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=19 Like I said, using the earbuds is a HUGE improvement sound wise, as well as eliminating the wind and motor noise (got rid of my WHINE ). I know there might be some safety issues with earbuds, that's something you'll have to work out on your own...but for MUCH BETTER SOUND...this is the ONLY way to go. Wally

For those of you that like to use earphones for your MP3 player as you ride, I highly recommend the Skull Candy brand of earphones! For comparison, I have tried the Apple earbuds, and the Philips earbuds. The Philips are absolutely bad as they amplify the wind noise to unbearable. The Apple earbuds are little better. The noise level is too high to enjoy the music. The Skull Candy earbuds are inexpensive (Got mine at Staples for $19) and they BLOCK out the windnoise, so much so that at medium volume I no longer hear the bike at all, and have to feel my way thru the gears. This is while rolling down the road at 70+ with no helmet. Using them with my Scorpion Exo-100 Half Helmet was even better, as the wires weren't whipping me in the windstream. :-D ~Bill

I use the chatter box headsets and mike for the venture intercomm. I purchased the edsets adapter that lets you use earbuds. Here's the question. I still need the mike to talk to my passenger and talk using the cb but don't want the speakers that come with the chatter box system in my helmet since I am using earbuds. If I cut the speaker wire that comes out of the mike for the helmet speakers will the mike still work?

I've posted on this twice before but today learned something new. First, I bought one of the edsets adapters that let you plug in earbuds with the intercom. I used a pair of earbuds my wife bought at walmart for $14.00. The adapter and earbuds are great except for the click of the engine I hear in the earbuds. I bought a pair of koss earbuds at walmart for $24.00 and I didn't get any engine noise in them so I bought a second adapter so my wife can use earbuds with the intercom also. Today I received the second adpater and plugged in the koss earbuds. Music is great until I started the engine and then click, click, click. I noticed the intercom volume was at 16 so I turned the volume down to zero and guess what? No engine clicking in the earbuds. If you want to listen to music only turn the intercom volume down and there is no noise. This brings another question to mind. If I have the mike mute installed will I get the engine noise when the intercom is set to 16 since the intercom doesn't work until you press the talk button?

I posted a few weeks ago regarding the edsets adapter I ordered so I can use ear buds with the intercom. The adapter works fine but I used a set of ear buds my wife uses with her mp3 player. The ticking of the engine noise was so loud it was unbearable. Well today I went to wal mart and bought a pair of KOSS noise isolating earbuds for $24.88. There is absolutely no engine noise in these earbuds. I never thought that the type of earbuds would make a difference. There is one aggravating thing about the KOSS earbuds. One earbud has a wire that is 6" long and the other earbud wire is 22" long. Why is this?

Aerostich has an intercom system adpater #3900 that reduces your standard intercom to a 3.5mm stero plug for use with earbuds and earspeakers. Anyone tried this or no if it works? Thanks.
