I took my 06 RSV to have the rear shock inspected a couple of weeks ago just before the warranty ran out. I mentioned to the mechanic (who I have come to trust over the years) that after I installed my rear wheel with new tire mounted it seemed like the rear brakes were dragging but I hadn't really paid any attention to it before removing the rear wheel. This first thing he asked me was if I had marked the axle location (referring to rotation) before removing it. I said no I never do. He said that he had a customer one time that complained about a noise after having a tire installed somewhere else out of state. He knows about the pins needing greased, etc. and noticed that the axle was bent so he ordered a new one from Yamaha. When the new one came in it was bent also. So he called Yamaha and they said "Yes, that's the way they are. You need to install the axle and rotate it noting when the wheel spins free or tight and then tighten it at the best place." The mechanic said that did indeed fix the problem and he now always checks and then marks any axle he does in relation to the swingarm so he doesn't have to check it the next time he works on it. I have an appointment this week to have the rear shock replaced and I told him that I want the dragging brakes checked. I intend to ask him what he means by "bent" because we have a machine at work that we use to straigten precision ballscrews for our positioners and I could have it straightened. Has anyone else ever heard of this condition? I didn't think I had ever seen a post about it.

This story appeared in Baggers Magazine. Its part 2 of a series called: Sturgis. Hellride. Is it worth it? Sofar they have posted 3 parts. The jist is that these guys, all professionals, left LA for Sturgis SD, riding long lonely stretches of road in the heat of summer, dodging heat, cows, rain, and traffic. When they got a bit spirited in the mountains of Colorado, something terrible happened. We've all seen videos of riders on the Goldwings, flipping from side to side in the twisties, and dragging pegs all the way. It makes me cringe when I hear that. I never scrape the floorboards...if necessary, I hang-in, decreasing the active lean angle of the bike, but I spent way too many years riding dirtbikes to feel comfortable dragging hard parts on the hard pavement. The bike can lever up, losing traction, or worse, in a blind turn, you might have to chop throttle, and then shaft-drive bikes can rear-dive, and/or increase lean angle and drag MORE metal. So no thanks. MY footboard plates are like new, no scrape marks. No matter what you ride, be careful guys and gals! http://www.baggersmag.com/features/1007_hrbp_baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2/index.html http://image.baggersmag.com/f/features/1007_hrbp_baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2/29187343+pheader_460x1000/1007_hrbp_01_z+baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2+2009_honda_goldwing_crash.jpg

When I was up in WV at the Skid in I was there when Skid brought home his new to him MSRSV. The Midnight is a nice looking machine even if it is a 2nd gen. I am a fairly dyed in the wool First gen enthusiast, as those who know me will attest to. Skid dragging that new 2nd gen of his home I guess got to me. It weakened my resolve … So today I made room in my garage …

I was wondering if anyone has an Idea on the best way to make a pole to fly a flag from the trailer hitch on my Tour deluxe.. I have the bracket made but need to know what would hold up as the pole. Dont want it bending and dragging behind me.. Thanks

There has been some discussion as to the accuracy of the Morgan Carbtune. Well, I have to say that those accusations are founded. As you can see, I tee'd all four lines to a hand vacuum pump. And this is what I got. Should have been perfect. Doing it "on the bench", I could hear the rods dragging, which of course you can't hear with the engine running. This Carbtune has only been used a few times. Now, I will see if cleaning it makes any difference. But I think a calibration check is in order before any synchronizing.

Bought a new battery for the scoot today but it seems like the starter is dragging. Last fall my battery bit the dust so I thought the slow crank was because of the battery. Starts slow and the battery is giving all it has. New battery is charged fully. Maybe time to tear down the starter and clean it up inside? Any ideas?

I just purchased a 2008 RSTD and it seems that the front brakes make a noise... like they are dragging. Is this normal?
