Tom Phillips (tomephil) from Winnipeg, MB paid us the pleasure of an overnight stay on his way to Nova Scotia yesterday. Larry and Joyce(Carbon One and his better half) helped to welcome Tom to the Motor City, We had a good visit and went to see ZZ TOP, 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson at DTE last night. Tom, it was a pleasure to have you and you're welcome back any time. I hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly, you've already had your share of excitement, eh ?

I started this here because I know a lot aren't paying much attention to garage thread now. I got doors from Wayne Dalton. I can follow most instructions but these are tuff. The one thing I can't find is what size opening do I need to start my framing. Jambs and header I can handle but what size do I set them?? Jambs go flush with edge of block but how wide?? 8 ft doors but different type doors require different size openings to accommodate the hardware. I need width of opening in block and height to hang header. Can anybody prove how dumb I am?? www.dasma.com tech data sheet # 161 Connecting Garage Door Jambs to Building Framing.

Here is mine. Not boasting here, just thought it would be nice to see some different ideas. I know of at least two members here whom are in the process of building a garage. My garage has a small 4'x6' porch and the garage is 28' wide and 40' long. Used sheet rock on the inside walls,4" insulation in walls and 6" in the ceiling with insulated 10' wide x 8' tall garage doors . Never been below 38 degrees in my garage with out heat and at 5 below zero out side. Love my garage ...... I love to camp. This past week end was a camping date for me. Found out real quickly I needed a new tent for wind and cool temps. Need some help on picking a tent that has windows and doors that can be covered. Also want a tent with rain fly that goes to the ground. Something of a 4 season type.

hi all i need some electrical advise on a 2002 ford windstar mini van. not mine but a friend of ventureriders. it would not start even with jumper cables. took battery out and down to auto parts store. they tested it, was low on charge but good battery. they charged it to specs. the ternamels were dirty as well as the battery clamps. cleaned all of them. before putting battery back in used jumper cables to start the van, van started up. installed battery. thought everything was ok. but now the remote door opener won't unlock the doors. also the radio does not come on and the twin side doors will not open with the electric motors. doors will open manualy. have checked all the fuses and rotated the control relay for the doors with another same rated relay from another circut. no fix. they said the remote door opener was working before removing battery. anyone have ideas. thanks in advance don c.

I heard this elsewhere. I also see on their website that all warranties will end on Dec. 31, 2008.
