Tropical Storm Beryl is making a beeline for Jacksonville. Guess we were due for a storm eventually. Should make landfall about the time im picking Jean up from work at 9 PM. Eck, if we dont make it, take care of the 99 although you do have to put it together. As far as the Mustang goes, you get the two dogs with it as a package deal........I expect to lose power soon. It already failed once today. SURFS UP!!!!!!

A dog lover, whose female dog was in heat, agreed to look after her neighbors' male dog while they were on vacation. She had a large house and believed that she could keep them apart. As she was drifting off to sleep, she heard awful howling and moaning. She rushed downstairs to find the dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage, as so frequently happens when dogs mate. She was unable to separate them and panicked about what to do. Although it was about 11:00 pm, she called her vet. After a long time, he answered in a grumpy voice. She explained the problem. The vet said, "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs I'll call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he'll be able to withdraw." "Do you really think that will work?" she asked. "It just worked for me," he said and hung up.

I on 3 mostly wooded acres with continuous woods winding thru the nearby hillsides.. About 3 am this morning I'm awoken by the distant and unmistakable baying of a beagle in the distance. I've heard one in the woods before. But... he gets closer and closer. Now I have 2 large dogs, both of whom are barkers themselves, including a year old female lab-pyrenees mix who must have swallowed a Stebel air horn when she was a pup. Its cooling off nicely at night now, so I have the windows open. So both of my dogs join in the chorus, to show support for the beagle hot on the trail of something. I'm hoping the beagle catches the rabbit that has been eating my garden flowers. He gets closer, or louder depending on ones viewpoint. My 2 dogs are going nuts. Well, whatever he was chasing must have just gone up a tree just outside my bedroom window. Isn't that nice!! The beagle sits there for what seemed an hour, but was probably only 10 minutes or so, letting loose. I'm tempted to get my shotgun out of the closet and shoot either whatever was being chased, or maybe the beagle.. but I refrain, neighbors would just call the police and I'd never get any sleep. I try to wrestle my 2 dogs to the floor to shut them up, but did you ever try to hold 2 80lb squirming dogs at once while they were intent on exercising their god-given voices? I give up and get a bowl of icecream and flip open my laptop computer to see what other fools are posting to the internet at this hour of the morning. I see the chinese spammers are busy at work tonight... Whatever went up the tree, seems to have escaped. I hear the beagle's call fading over the hill. My 2 dogs want a biscuit. Did I mention that I hate beagles?

does anyone have a set of saddlebag lids for a MKII (88). Condition or colour doesn't matter as long as the clamps are good. I want to cut holes in them so the dogs can ride in the saddlebags and stick their heads out as they want. Rattlecan paint will be fine seeing as they may get a bit scratched up anyway. I took the dogs for a ride in the bags already...just had the lids off.....and they seemed to love the ride. My wife and I can just reach down to give them a pat. They seemed to enjoy it , and when they've had enough they just lied down to get out of the wind! They are only about 12-15 lbs each so they fit quite comfortably in the saddlebag along with a blanket on the bottom. For those who may be concerned...we DID have them restrained so they couldn't jump out. We are planning on buying goggles to protect their eyes also.

We have had a fun day today! Sling and Peggy, RandyR, and Chuck came over today and helped George work on the valves. I cooked hamburgers and hot dogs with the trimmings and then we had a dulcimer jam session! What a way to spend the day!! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2011/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%2020110619%20Fathers%20Day/

I have a REALLY heavy heart this morning!!! We had to put two of the 4-legged children to sleep this morning. They were 15 or 16. Some will say typing through tears is silly as they were just dogs... R.I.P. Toy and Taylor Pictures are from happier times...

A mother and her 5-year-old son were flying Air New Zealand from Auckland to Sydney. The son (who had been looking out the window) turned to his mother and asked, 'If big dogs have baby dogs and big cats have baby cats, why don't big planes have baby planes?" The mother, who couldn't think of an answer, told her son to ask the flight attendant So the little guy walks up to the galley and asks the flight attendant,' If big dogs have baby dogs and big cats have baby cats, why don't big planes have baby planes?" The flight attendant responded, "Did your mother tell you to ask me that?" The boy said, "Yes, she did. "Well, then, please tell your mother that there are no baby planes because Air New Zealand always pulls out on time. And ask her explain that to you."

Ok...I must be bored...writing quotes about dogs: The reason a dog has so many friends is that He wags his tail instead of his tongue. -Anonymous There is no psychiatrist in the world Like a puppy licking your face. -Ben Williams A dog is the only thing on earth That loves you more than he loves himself. -Josh Billings The average dog is a nicer person Than the average person. -Andy Rooney Anybody who doesn't know what soap tastes like Never washed a dog. - Franklin P. I spent last Saturday at the camp loaded for Bear. Hoping for the best but prepared for the worst on Halloween weekend. The norm is local rif raf upsetting bus houses and raising hell. I wanted to make sure my camp was secure plus my first gen,ton truck, and the John Deer is still there. I was setting out on the porch Saturday evening with the Mossberg 500 loaded nearby and my front line defense Venture our 20lb snauzzer and his backup Big Rig his 12 lb sidekick. When all of a sudden here they come. Tresspassers dressed in black and meaning business. Two strangers walking across the lawn on a mission. The dogs raising hell ready for action surrounded those two Mormon Missionairies in short order. I LMAO had to call off the dogs and everything.

I know you didn't miss me but I'm finally back. I rejoined several months ago but apparently did something wrong. I was so busy at work and travelling that I failed to follow up. I've been in Florida working August and until the end of Sept. Seems I'm missing some real nice riding weather back in Va. Is this true Ben? Are you back yet Ben? Did I miss anything major? BTW. You Florida people can keep this weather. I'm not on my bike and I miss it terribly. Even the dogs I'm training are starting to revolt due to the heat and these dogs will be going to Afghanistan soon.

actually Naperville is where I'll be Friday around lunch time. Of course Chicago style pizza comes to mind, but what else would you consider that is only or the best is available in the Chicago area? Chicago style hot dogs has been suggested, too. I found Giordano's and Lou Malnati's pizza in Naperville rated very highly. Also Portillo's Hot Dogs looks promising. I'm getting really hungry now!!! Also, do you know a good pawn shop with lot's of guitars? Or a music store that has lot's of used equipment? I'm flying my 50 year old Fender Super Amp up there Friday to have it repaired and serviced at Victoria Amps. Brother gets me buddy passes, so flying it up there is not much more than shipping it and it can't get lost or destroyed! Should be a nice adventure. Thanks, James

Ok!! so now that my dog has been sprayed by a skunk for about the eleventh time, :bang head: I thought for those of you that own dogs, I would post the recipe that I use ( and have found to be the best non-commercial wash I have used so far) to de-skunk my dogs. I have done the tomato juice, yuk thing. I have done the coke and pepsi thing (a little better), but none so far have worked as well. NOTE ! I usually find that mixing 1/4 of the amount seems to be enough for an average size 50-60 lb dog. 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide ¼ cup baking soda 1 teaspoon of strong liquid soap such as dishwashing detergent. (polmolive or sunlight work well here) Mix the ingredients in an open bucket or bowl. The mixture will fizz. Wet your dog and thoroughly massage the solution into the coat. Be sure to keep the mixture out of the dogs eyes, nose and mouth. If it is necessary to apply it to the dogs face, very carefully use a washcloth or a sponge. After applying the mixture to all parts of your dog that may have been sprayed, rinse the dog thoroughly. *Warning* This mixture can be explosive, as it will fizz and creates pressure if it is enclosed in a seal tight container. Never store unused portion, always discard. Be sure to only mix in an open container and do not try to store or cover it in any way. Do not get the mixture into the dog's eyes, nose or mouth.

Mid 90's here in Houston today... summer is here. Pretty warm mowing the lawn but the garden hose felt good while washing the dogs!

I am thinking of trailering my bike to Asheville NC May 7-13th and camping on the BPR with my 2 little dogs, was just wondering if anyone would like to go for a nice ride while I was up there.

Well the local multi-brand bike dealer here had their big night show for Yamaha. Had a few Yamaha factory reps on hand and FREE HOT DOGS! The hot dogs turned out to be the highlight of the night. LOL! Just sayin'. Not a RSV in sight........a T-D, a row of V-Stars, plenty of crotch rockets and a 2010 V-Max. So I finally got a rep cornered and posed the question........Will there be a RSV in 2011? Got a shrug. He had no idea. But he did say "if" there was we could expect a choice of two colors. Like I expected more? But on the bright side........I got to park my butt on the V-Max. I likey! Felt like a mini-bike after the '84. Would have been nice to fire it up and go for a spin but that wasn't going to happen. And back in the used row they had a '89 Venture with 40,000 on it for $4,998.00. Burgundy with ghost flames. After a good look it looked like the new paint was there for a reason. But the hot dogs were good. Free. Always good. So much for the big event.

I am starting a new job training dogs for the federal govt March 1 and will be a contract trainer. This was my specialty for the last 23 years as a civilian police officer and am looking forward to getting back to work with dogs. I've done the process where I've registered as a sole proprietor and all the other difficult paperwork. I know I'll need to pay my own taxes quarterly and my wife is good with stuff like that so figuring out what to pay should be ok. What I'm trying to figure out is is there any resource where I can find what exactly I can deduct and can't off the taxes. I'm wondering if I'll need to hire someone for the first year to help with the taxes. This is a five year contract. Any advice from anyone in this position would be appreciated.
