Every now and then someone asks what size a particular bolt is. Just thought it would be helpful to post this from another site. FYI, you can get the part# from most Yamaha dealer websites or here. "How to get sizes of bolts from the part numbers... The Yamaha microfiche shows the bolt size, you just have to know how to read it. Here is how it works... The part number is broken down into 3 parts 99999-06012-00 is an example. The second part, which is 06012 tells you the size. That bolt is 6mm in diameter and 12mm in length. If the second part was 08024 the bolt would be 8mm in diameter and 24mm in length. The first part of the part number tell what type of part it is such as bolt, screw, washer etc. and last 2 digits generally determines the finish such as black, cad, etc"

I'm not sure of my memory on this one but both the MKI and MKII inner fork tubes are 40mm or 41mm diameter? Mike

Does anyone have on their MKII the Chrome Guards for the Large Side Panels. If you do would you be willing to give me some dimensions. 1) Take one off your VR and trace the guard on a piece of paper. 2) Measure the diameter of the tube 3) Indicate on the drawing where the 4 mounting pieces go and their lengths. See Attachment. It might be a bit small.

My 83 rotors are too large in diameter for the r6 upgrade. (Found 89 forks and r6 calipers) Any recommendations on rotors that fit the 83 wheel but have small enough diameter. Current rotors are 297x8.

has anyone tried putting other tips on the nasty boys other than the barron brand? like to try to find some a little cheaper although they have marked them down a little.i believe the diameter is 2 1/4" outside and 2.06-2.16 inner and needs at least one inch to insert inside.

Can someone confirm if the stock handle bars on the RSV is 1 inch outside diameter and 7/8" inside diameter? What's the length of the bar? (I can't find my flexible measuring stuff ergh!) Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know the Stock Luggage Rack Diameter of a 1st Gen MKII. I'm at work and I'd like to order a flag mount.

I increased performance on my ZX11D7 Ninja by adding a Muzzy header (4 into 1) and having a custom 1 into 2 exhaust built by a local guy. I found a Vmax 4 into 2 design that looks promising as a replacement for the Venture collector. I am wondering if Vmax exhaust pipes are bigger . . . Can one of you Vmax guys tell me the header diameter on the Vmax versus the Venture?

I just hate it when I have parts left over! So, I just finished repacking the steering head bearings and I'm putting everything back together and I find this 'extra' part. It's a rubber washer (of sorts) with such an odd configuration, you'd think it would be easy to figure where it belongs. I've gone through the manual and every other sort of resource I could find, but I still don't know where to put it. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/coy55boy/83%20Venture%20Royale/rubberwasher.jpg The inside diameter of the washer is the same as the outside diameter of the ring nut pictured here. But, I can't see any purpose for it when installed that way. The only other possibility I can come up with is that it goes under the bearing cover on top of the upper bearing. If that's the case, I'd like to get confirmation before I button everything up. P.S. '83 Royale (if that makes any difference)

NOT REALLY NOTICING MUCH CHANGE FROM STAGE 2 TO 3 WITH THE ROADKINGS I TOOK THE STEPS OF OPENING THE OUTLET END BY PUNCHING 4 HOLES INTO THE METAL SURROUNDING THE INNER BAFFLE. SIMILAR TO DRILLING THE INLET END.; USED A POINTED TAPERED TOOL AND DROVE IT IN UNTIL THE HOLE WAS ABOUT 3/8 OR SO IN DIAMETER. TOOK ALL OF 1 MINUTE PER SIDE NOW SOUNDS MUCH BETTER AT ALL SPEEDS, LIKE A GROWL BUT STILL NOT AFTERMARKET LOUD..

What is the handlebar diameter on a 2nd gen? Thanks

I have an 07 RSTD, we measured the crash bar diameter is it appears to just a tad under 3/4". the smallest diameter that i see for Kuryakyn Iso Pegs are 1". anyone here with a rstd have these pegs and if so what is the part # and will i need to make a shim ? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions. Another thing, i'm buying the Hoppe Quadzilla fairing for my bike and i would like to add passing lamps (or light bar which ever you prefer) and need ideas/suggestions also.

Hello, I tried a Royal Star but ended up with a VTX. The bars on the RS were much better than my VTX bars and I want to put some on it. Does anybody know the diameter of the bar on the RS, and the width of the section that is clamped? Thanks... Jim

As a serious CT prospect, I encountered this on Dunlop's website. I was actually looking for real tech info for a friends question why he could not run "front" tire on rear and vice versa. So, do any of your guys have the equipment and a spare rim to actually measure a 15" motorcycle rim and a 15" car rim and report? I think equipment to measure thousandth would be in order. Here is the quote from Dunlop's site: For 15-inch motorcycle replacement tires, never mount on a 15-inch diameter passenger car tire rim. Mount only on a 15 M/C motorcycle rim. These passenger car and motorcycle rims actually differ in diameter. This statement is on this page: http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/infocenter_tiretips.asp?id=27#tip

I could not attach pictures to your message, so I will try here. I took a piece of steel tubing that was the same inside diameter as the steel wheel and used the outside diameter to determine the hole size needed in the stand foot. I put the sleeve in and welded is so it is still as strong as before. I placed it so the wheel is about 1/8th inch lower than the bottom of the foot. I then used a grade 8 bolt thru the sleeve and wheel. I can take two fingers and with minimal pressure on the side of the trunk, I can spin the bike around on smooth concrete. RandyA

Stupid question, but I can't find the handlebar diameter of my '86 Royale to order new grips, and my bike is at home, I'm at work...you get the picture. Anyone know the handlebar diameter off hand?

I'm looking for ways to mount my Nextar Q3. I saw an add on E-bay for a mount that would attach to a 1" handle bar, but of course on a first generation Venture the handlebars aren't round OR 1" diameter. I could just use the suction cup on the windshield, but I'd really like something better. Any ideas?? How good does the suction cup work on a motorcycle?? Frank D.

Chuck Ole buddy I hope you are in the basement. There is a tornado on the ground and headed for where Chuck lives. 1/2 mile in diameter and been on the ground for some time. I'm thinking about you, hold on, Jerry

Does anyone have a 2nd gen stator lying around that they could measure the maximum outside diameter for me? I know a couple of you here have replaced the stator in this engine. Still have your old spare handy?

I started to install my passing lamps today and discovered the turn signals don't fit on the "turn signal adaptors". The adaptors are too big for the turn signals. They're not even close! I removed the grommet on the turn signals and they're still not close. What's up with this! Am I screwing up or did the give me the wrong parts? I just looked at my 97 RSTC and the turn signal mounts are a larger diameter than my Venture. Did they change the Diameter on the newer Venture? mine is an 07.-Jack:bang head:

I would like to install some larger diameter (fatter) hand grips. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
