Working nights this week training a new supervisor. On the way to work I stop by subway to grab a sandwich. Swipe my debit card, declined ??? Now I know my pension check just made it there, my pay check should be there and my wife's check. I scramble to get my sandwich and then call my Credit Union. Yep I am one of 23 people who had my card "compromised", apparently I am told I did not loose anything because they stopped it. The lady before me was hit to the tune of $3500.00. I was also told that they have seen an increase in false charges where a clerk at a gas station, restaurant... swipes your card through the gas stations device and then their cell phone or portable device and adding a small additional charge. The charge is usually small and odd numbers to pass scrutiny and people are so accustomed to using debit cards now they are not in the habit of balancing their statements. Morale, do not hand your card to the clerk, get receipts and reconcile your statement and dispute charges asap. AARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!

Here's an inexpensive tool I just found at Walmart and used to add lubricant to my RSV's rear shock. It's called The MixMizer produced by FloTool and designed to assist with mixing the proper ratio of oil with gasoline for two cycle engines. At my local Walmart it was stocked in the automotive department near the oil funnels. I found it the perfect device for adding lubricant to the rear shock. As Rick Butler describes in his very informative thread about the OEM rear shock, "Understanding Your RSV Rear Shock", http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2220, I removed the Schrader valve and used the syringe and the included 4 inch extension tube to inject two ounces of lubricant. It worked perfectly for this task without spilling a drop of fluid. Here's what to look for,

I have Garmin Zumo 660 and am using Garmin Roadtrip on a Mac. I am having trouble uploading routes to the device. Someone sent me a GPX file and I was able to get that onto the device. I tried making some routes on my own but have been unable to get them to appear onto the device. If anyone is using this gps/computer combo, any advice would be much appreciated. I plan on having a buddy send me another gpx to see if it will load. BTW I have an 8gb micro sd card in it and tried putting the gpx on the card and into the internal memory. No joy either way.

OK, the backseat boss and I got some new helmets and would like to set up some comms. Unfortunately I now realize that the bike I bought doesn't have the passenger control for the intercom, CB, etc.. Does anyone have a working one off a parts bike they would be willing to give up? Please let me know! I found it on the parts websites, but that price is a little steep to swallow. Is there an alternative device I could plug in to allow her and I to both use the intercom/CB or however that works and listen to the radio. Thanks! Todd

Since my sweetie is my full-time navigator (along with my GPS device), I often will give her the assignment to also be my on-board photographer when we are riding. In addition to either our video camera or still cameras, she will also sometimes have to look-up information on my GPS or cell phone while we are riding. This involves her handling some rather expensive devices which I would be pretty upset if she happened to accidentally drop one of them. Now, my cameras have wrist straps on them, so they are pretty safe. But, neither my Garmin GPS or my Motorola Droid have wrist straps. Has anyone here figured-out a way to attach some sort of simple, safety tether to a small portable, electronic device? I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually manufacturers them. I'm thinking of something similar to one of these: http://www.kabletek-flexweave.com/flexweave.htm I'm just not sure how I would attach something like this to a cell phone, GPS or an iPod. Any suggestions? I'm sure this isn't an original idea. Thanks guys! Be Safe! Pete.

So time to think about adding satellite radio. Comments on XM Radio vs Sirius for satellite providers? Garmin new Zumo 665 has XM. BUT already have a GPS device. Other question, anyone using the portable satellite receivers vs the car mount device? ON the weekend, saw 2 Harleys with the docking station mounted to the left clutch resevior bolts and wired in. Actually looked good, but then again, Harely? Enough said. Thanks for any comments.

Just thought I'd take a moment to thank each and every one who has been paying their taxs for my new hearing. The VA finally, begrudingly, acknowledged that my hearing had gone to H... and fitted me for a hearing device. Not really a hearing aid as one would think of in the traditional sense. This device, the Phonak, filters out the background noise, and provides a clean audio signal. It's really amazing to realize that folks arn't mumbling. So, once again, Thank you. My wife also wants to thank you as she no longer has to repeat every thing two or three times.

I have your adapter to use Zumo on my venture, and it works great!!! Can you make something similar for the J&M CB unit on Mamma's bike? The J&M already has an auxiliary input jack, but no way to talk back to the device, same as the factory unit on Venture. To use anything other than a music player, you have to buy a $270 "integrator" plus another $150 "adapter" for each device you want to integrate. My understanding is the integrator's purpose is just to prioritze all the devices so only one is talking at a time. But the two ways I would like to use it would be only one "mixed" use device at a time, with the device providing it's own internal prioritization. Option one. We can currently plug her cell with internal MP3 right onto the stereo aux male plug provided, and listen to music and hear the phone ring. Since her phone has speech capability, she can hear it say "Call From Bubba". She can answer and hear me talk. This adapter would be something like a standard 3.5 stereo female on one end, and a male "triple" 3.5 one the other end with the mike signal tied into the extra contact. Option two - Mounting my zumo on her bike. Similar to your current adapter. The big change: Both our headsets are "dual-mode" type mikes. Tied to a factory unit on goldwing or venture, it is a 5 wire setup and the mike operates "dynamic". But when I change to her bike, I switch to a 6 wire lower cord and the mike operates "pre-amplified". So , my limited electronics assumes you would need to do something different inside your "magic" pvc tube so the mike output is at the proper power. If you can make the Zumo adapter, then I think for her cell phone I would need just an adapter to plug the 3.5 stero output and 2.5 mike input into one end, and have the common 3.5 male triple on the other end to plug into her phone. If you can make this, mine is free since my idea, huh? Maybe? Let me know what other info I can provide to help if you are willing to try!

I sent a message to them for info, they were kind of evasive. They said they could not give up all the secrets on this device, but assured me I would love it. Bolt on application? Bolts to what? Any feedback from fellow members would be appreciated. Thanks Ross
