Been tearing down the VR to get to the thermostat and have a few choice words for the engineers. Since this is a family oriented site I won't say them. Was the cooling system an afterthought or what?! If I didn't know any better I'd say this was designed by our government. One department designed the motor and another department designed the cooling system. Neither one consulted each other. Finished with my rant, thank you.

I got this link in my email today, it's for an early '80s designed HD that never made it to production. Too bad too, it looks pretty interesting. http://big-diesel.blogspot.com/2007/09/nova-harley-davidson-which-was-never.html

Anyone have any idea how long Ride On last in a tire? If the tire is not removed should it be okay or is this designed to be replaced before the tire wears out?

I have a whole set of fenders, wheels, side covers and tank plus alot of misc. parts off my 96 Royal Star. I have another set I had custom painted and don't need these now. They are blue and white. The tank is new and has a decal I designed on it. Before I put this stuff on EBay I thought I would let the club know. I will sell it all for $375 plus freight. I will be selling individual parts on EBay so this is a deal. Reno 715-459-2570 pixx@charter.net

I made a guage plate at work. Designed it at home using Cimatron E8.5 design software. Programmed it at work using WorkNc 17. I matched the contour of the dash and also the recess that was below the tape deck door. Came out pretty nice. I am going to polish it and probably have it anodized dark blue to match the Galaxy Blue of the bike. I am also adding a tach to the right handle bar. I have it designed, just waiting for a machine to open up to cut the housing and clamp. I will post pics as the project progresses.

This isn't particularly technical, but... I transitioned from Goldwings (1500 and 1800) to a 2009 RSV last fall and my wife and I are planning our first vacation on it. Both of my Goldwings' kickstands would sink into warmish asphalt like a hot knife going into butter. That resulted in a free show for bystanders who were treated to a vocabulary demonstration while I freed the 'wing. Eventually I opted for a plastic footprint looking thing which I left behind at a restaurant and then I used various pieces of metal designed to spread out the wing's weight. My question is: do I need one with the RSV? The RSV kickstand looks like it spreads out the weight nicely, but I don't want to take any unnecessary chances. Thanks in advance.

I found this little homemade trailer on E-bay, but don't want to bid on it if it is too heavy to pull. It was designed to be pulled by a goldwing 1500, so I feel fairly safe. Item # 320355058863

Saw in another post that you work for Gemini Letters. Our son works as a graphic designer for Signs by Tomorrow in Cedar Falls, IA. He designed our letters for the outside of our office here and they are Gemini's. Nice product!!!

I have been searching threads on this site about tires. It has been posted that you should not put a Radial tire on a bike designed for Biased tires. How does one know (or where can they find information) if a bike is designed for radial or biased? Chuck

I was reading my owners manual today and noticed a WARNING on pg 6-23 stating "This motorcycle is not designed to pull a trailer or to be attached to a sidecar" and "Yamaha cannot be held liable for any consequences caused by the use of items which have not been approved by Yamaha". I know several of you pull trailers with your bikes without any problems. I also had thought about building a trailer for mine but I have to ask, Should I wait until my warranty expires?

On my 93, there are tabs on the front outside corners of the bag guards. Does anybody know what they designed for? Thanks, DJ

The holes in the ears that hang down just beneath the frame. Just behind the oil plug and in front of the little shelf that the smog canister, for the California models, gets bolted to. The ones that the pin, that holds Carbon One's Lift adapter adapter to the bike, goes through. Anyone know what they were originally designed for. One of mine has a plug clipped into it to fill the hole so I wondered if they were actually designed for some purpose or if they may have been used at the factory and that's it. Inquiring minds want to know.
