  1. Perhaps this guy had a little too much Black Death??? http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/raging-airplane-passenger-duct-taped-seat-165526162--abc-news-topstories.html
  2. I just talked to Mary and as you can imagine, she is devastated with Mark's death. As best I can understand what she told me, as I could barely hear her, Mark had complained Thursday of not feeling well and having a back ache. When he went to bed, she gave him some back massage and he went to sleep. When she went to bed later, he was laying across the bed and was blue and had blood coming out of his mouth/nose. He could not be revived and was taken to Wake Forest for an autopsy. It may be awhile before it is known what caused his death, but at this time it is suspected that it may have been an intestinal aneurysm, which is probably one of the most deadly aneurysms. I did tell Mary that she has a whole bunch of folks on VentureRider that really cared for her and Mark and she and her family are in our thoughts and prayers. She said she will call me and give more information as it comes available. RandyA
  3. So, someone said to me the other night that they wouldnt give a rats ass. It got me to thinking. Do people really give anyone a rats ass as a gift or something or is it a folklore thing? Cmon, its pouring rain outside now and im bored to death. I truly know that at least one of you here really does give a rats ass. Lets here from yas......
  4. A 60 year old man from Louisiana on a Honda ran off a right turn and plunged to his death. Thats all the info I could find besides his name. Fatal accidents on the road are surprisingly rare, here a map that shows the history of fatalities http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps/...ths.pdf:frown:
  5. Greetings all fellow Venturers ! Since I am not able to attend this year due to work and a planned trip to Spain with the family this year I thought that I would get somebody from Iceland to attend on my behalf. Had problem getting my mother to attend so my final option was to send Mr. Black Death instead of Momma. Big Tom has received two bottles of that dreadful drink and i hope he will put them in the freezer and serve to those who would like a taste on Saturday evening:group cheers:. Keep an eye on him for me - he got hooked on Black Death and urinated shark when he and Vicky visited us in Iceland last summer. Sorry I could not send the shark - Don´t want the US custom to get pissed at me. Wish you all the happiest time at Freebirds the coming weekend. Warmest regards to you all from, Jonas and Greta (we will see you in 2013 rain or shine).
  6. The strangest thing happened to me today. We are in full throttle mode getting everything ready for maintenance day. Now if it was up to me, I would say "yea, things look good enough". BUT....SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED comes up with these HUGE lists of things that just MUST be done before people start arriving. So..... Today I spent about 5 hours on the weedeater. Now I use a 4 stroke Toro weedeater and it IS a little heavy but I swear it gets heavier every year. So I trimmed for about 5 hours and this thing just beat me to death. Now this is the first time I've used it this year but I've used it many times in the past. I just don't remember it beating me up so bad. So I finally got finished with most of the trimming and was surprised at how tired I was. I went in the house, had a big glass of ice water and then went up to take a shower. It was then that I realized what had happened. I glanced in the mirror and there was an old geezer in there. I don't know where the heck he came from but it about scared me to death. How the heck did he get in my mirror?????? I got over the initial shock and got in the shower. When I was finished and had gotten dressed again, I gathered up my courage and took another look in that mirror and the old fart was gone. Now it still wasn't no youngster staring back at me but things were a little better. The only thing is, that old fart left some aches and pains when he left. What's up with that?
  7. Thanks to Jonas....we will have the "BLACK DEATH" at MD.........I'm starting to like that stuff..........
  8. Going to Vegas late June 2012 for 12 full days. Besides Gambleing and the Shows I plan to so some sites. Yosemite Nat Park USAF Thunderbird Area 51 Grand Canyon Hoover Dam Death Valley Anyone recommend anything else. Bike trip maybe back on agian rather than flying.
  9. My clutch is REALLY slipping, when the engine is cold. It slips a little when it gets hot if I try to make it slip (shift hard and wind it out). For some reason, I don't have much luck searching this forum. I am sure this has been discussed to death. But, what is the best thing to do, to rebuild the clutch; and where is the best place to get the parts the cheapest. Do I need just new springs, new fiber plates, or is there some kit that has every thing I need? Thanks. dana
  10. OK, we have beat this issue to death and I am about ready to dump the Avons and order up some E3's. We are running 404's on the Wife's Suzuki and they are made in Indonesia. Probably better than China but??? Does anyone volunteer to check their E3's to see where they are from. Thanks, Gary

    Wall of Death

Maybe I should build one of these for Maintenance Day. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31MMw3Eazqw&feature=player_embedded#]YouTube- Wall of Death[/ame]!
  15. Well, He arose after 3 days in the ground, defeating death, showing the way and giving us a new life, sooo, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
  16. In yesterday's Dahlonega, GA newspaper, The Nugget. "Trooper not indicted in biker's death". A local motorcyclist was recently killed as he returned from a friend's funeral by a GA State Patrol car making a U-turn on Hwy 129 to go after a speeder. The DA said "He was doing his job, he turned on his lights, he made the Uturn, he didn't see the individual".
  17. Screw the corporate overlords. If they will not take reponsibility for disintegrating tires, and my possible death, or the death of any rider, they can go to hell. Do car tires work on first gens? I'm ready. If someone starts a class action lawsuit, I'm all over it.
  18. Well I guess you are back home now, It was an honor and a privledge to meet you and share your wonderful Black Death..........I know how it got that name now, I experienced it......... Hope your visit was a memorable one, and I certianly hope to meet up with you again and ride with you. I would love to visit your country and ride it as you have ventured to the US and ridden here, you only saw the tip of the iceberg, next time you will have to come to Georgia and Todd, myself, Blackjack, just to name a few will take you on some the best riding roads in the US. Tail of the Dragon would just be for starters.........but no Black Death before that ride......for sure or you might end up wearing that label permanently. Thanks for coming to MD, it was special for all of us............
  19. For those of you that weren't able to make it to maintenance day....here is Jonas from Iceland, and with his bottle of Black Death
  20. It amazes me that some people get so insane about standing a the door of the store in the wee hours to get in. Today in Valley Stream we had a Walmart employee get trampled to death by shoppers trying to get in!! You may say that that is the start to a good joke but Im dead serious!!! What is wrong with those freaks!!!
  21. Tomorrow marks the first anniversary of our tragic accident and my dear wife, Leslie's death. Honey I miss you as much now as the day I was told about your death. You will be in my heart and thoughts for the rest of my life. The tears still come but not as often. Sometimes the tears come because of happy thoughts. And sometimes I even have a laugh now and then when I think of you. I know you still ride with me where ever I go. Life is moving on and I'm getting better. All the friends I have, have helped me get through this. Thanks to everyone here for your prayers and good thoughts.

    The Death of Common Sense

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by.Today I read his obituary. Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance. For Common Sense has served us all so well for so many generations. ObituaryCommon SenseToday we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend , Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how oldHe was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, why life isn't always fair, and how, on occasion, maybe it was my fault.Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.Author unknown
  25. As much as I love an above average temperature day in the winter time, it seems it brings out the bad in motorcycling. We had a death from a single vehicle motorcycle crash where the 21 year old lost it due to too much speed. I could not tell exactly what kind of bike it was from the picture in the paper, but it looked like a sport bike with either most of the plastic torn off or a naked type bike. The guy had just recently gotten back from Afghanistan with the 82nd airborne. RandyA
