I have noticed in the past that several members are or were active duty military. I have a couple of questions about dealing with the VA. When I was in the USAF, I had surgery done on my knee and my miniscus carteldge was removed. The VA filed me as less than 10% disabled. While I do get to go to the VA clinics and they have done a follow up surgery, I am needing surgery again. The surgeon even says my cartiledge is gone and I should be on disability. Unfortunately for me, the nearest hospital is New Orleans. After Katrina, the hospital was damaged beyond repair. They are currently using Tulane Univ. training hospital but are limited on the number of days they have access to the surgery. Presently, I have basically additional floating bones in my knee area that keep floating into the joint area and creating a rather electifying experience. I am on the list for surgery to remove the particals as I am "too young" for replacement, but have not been scheduled. And truthfully, not sure when it will happen. My questions are: 1. How do I get the VA to upgrade, my disability - I have tried being reevaluated, but they just touch my scar and say nothing has changed. 2. How do I get the VA to move me up on their schedule, I have been waiting since Halloween and jonesing to ride my bike. TIA Joe

Im looking at adding satellite radio in the next few months. I was looking at the sportster unit. Anyone use this unit? Any mounting issues? Where would be the best place to get a subscription? I heard dealing with Sirius could be a real hassle as their customer service really sux. Any input here would be helpful. Thanks....

Well I have less than 1000 miles on my RSTD and I have the rear end creak. I was rolling it out of the garage today and heard the creaking. I have seen some posts that say it can be a bent drive shaft. How do you check for that? Just put it on some machine blocks and use a dial indicator? Anyway, I bought the leveling links and also have the Carbon One adapter, so I plan on riding it this weekend then lifting it Sunday to work on this. I figure I am better off doing it than dealing with the dealer as I am not in the mood to argue with them over whether it is a problem or not. I have the documentation from this website and it should not be that big of a deal to do. David

I wrecked my right knee back in Jan. of 06. Lost my job because I was no longer able to perform my duties. Left one followed soon after. Needed to get a lawyer in the beginning of 07. I'm still waiting. Had to go back to school to make a career change because I can't do the kinds of work I have always been able to do before. It really suck going back to school with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ond another reading disability I can't pronounce. At least school will be over as of the end of this spring semester. Been putting applications and resumes in here and there, but so far, no luck. I've had to pass up to many jobs due to my work restrictions. How much trouble do you think a guy could get into if he didn't stay within his restrictions? Almost had disability go through, but they decided going to school was the same as working so I was denied. Has anybody else had to deal with similar things? Should dealing with the lawyers and insurance companies really take this long?

I have a person ( John ) from north of Atlanta Ga. who is interested in my venture. Said he is buying it for fellow riders from france who enjoy riding first gens when in the US. He needs to find a way to get the bike home but does not have a trailer. Is there any fellow riders that might be able to help and get the bike to him. I maybe able to get it part of the way. This is early in the dealing right now and depends on how everything goes. The bike is licensed and insured, so riding it is possible. The only reason I'm bring this up on here is, this is where he found it so he must be a member or soon to be a member. Thanks nyjerry

So you glad yet that you didn't bring just your bike with you! How is the Alabama guy dealing with all this snow! I for one can't stand it!

I searched 'how to' and frankly couldn't make it work after several tries. I can add the Canada map, the USA map, but not both. You're dealing with a pilot here so help has to be real simple. My thanks in advance. Jdix

Hi all, I would appreciate some prayers. I posted a week or two ago about the accident I had the Friday before Labor Day. I went down on the intersate in rush hour traffic. My helmet hit the pavem, ent so hard I more than likely would have been braian dead if I hadn't had it on. Aftyer reading the accident report this past weeken I also found out that a semi truck barely missed me as I was passed out in the middle lane of the freeway. Thankfully the driver was able to brake a swerve enough to get around me. God was with me and I didn't even get a broken bone. Only some road rash, very sore muscles, etc. from which I am recovering quickly. I also mentioned they found I had some enlarged lymph nodes in my chest area when they did the CAT scan in the emergency department. I followed uip with the doctor and found out on that visit that I also have a "nodule" in my left lung. Talk about a punch in the gut. I was never a smoker. They won't say anything else until they know for sure. They have already got me into a pulmonologist tomorrow and he will be scheduling a bronchoscopy for me so they can get a biopsy of the thing to see what we are dealing with. As for the bike, I got a call last night telling me they are going to total it. I am calling the adjuster back in a few minutes to get the details. So I will be Ventureless but will still hang around if you don't mind. My wife wants an end to the biking and I am just dealing with the health issues right now. So we'll give it some time to see how we feel in the Spring. I am feeling like maybe the accident happened so I would find whatever it is that is taking up residence in my lung. I am normally not good about going to the doctor and really haven't had any clue that there I appreciate you all. Ride safe.

This is great dealing with my stealer. My rear shock started dumping oil this weekend annd after talking to my Stealer he said ( we can replace it but it takes most of the day and they have to remove everything rear of the gas tank to replace it ) Like I want them working on my Ride !!!!! I told them its a 30 min. job and nothing has to be removed but the saddle bag and the shock. I guess I need to show them how to replace one. I HATE DEALING WITH PEOPLE THAT DON"T KNOW HOW TO WORK ON THESE BIKES !!!

I called 2 local Yami dealers and each told me that I needed a different kit. One said the kit was several items that totaled about $50 and the second told me that alls I needed was teh 2 seals for the slave kit if I was dealing with a small leak. I am dealing with a small slow leak but want to make sure I change out the right items. Is the 2 seal changes enough typically?? On another note I won a set of RK pipes yesterday fro $16.50 yesterday and they are local to me. So I will get to add them as soon as I arranage for the fitting I need from our member who is selling them. My clearview arrived yesterday so I guess I can give gunboat his shorty windshield back. Thanks for letting me borrow it gunboat!! I out of town at the moment at sons house in RoundRock Tx but hoping I can get my biek back on the road and take a ride next weekend. have a great weekend everyone jb

My CRS is getting bad, I want to swap my '86 VR's suspension over to the standard set up. I can't stand the CLASS system on these 20+ YO bikes as they are too fickle. I want to change over to the manual valve system for airing the shocks up. If anyone has an old 1200 sitting around that they use for parts and has both the front and rear schrader setups, please get ahold of me and we can do some dealing....Thanks

as an addendum, without blindsiding robertbob's post. how many of us live in a neighborhood, where "KNOWN DRUG dealers/cookers", flourish, and yet the police are seemingly "powerless" to do anything about the problem? i can sit on my front porch, and SEE at least three dealer's houses. everyone in town ,knows who is dealing, except the county sheriff's dept. sometimes , when the wind is right, i can smell the crap, at my house. anyone else have a similar situation? just jt
