Bought a couple of used parts and check the dealer price. Wow.... I wonder what a MKII would cost part by part at the dealers. Anyone knows this trivia? Or want to take a guess?

Does anybody have a set of Ball milled ones they would like to sell or no of anyone that does. Have called and emailed at least 40 yamaha dealers. How about our friends to the north? Anybody in Canada.

All the threads regarding Yamaha dealers are in the "Watering Hole" forum, so here goes... In a couple of weeks I'm taking a bike trip through 11 states and wanted to take a list of Yamaha dealers in those states with me 'just in case'. Does anyone know of a website that lists Yamaha dealers by state? I don't care if I have to cut & paste each state into a 'master list'. The problem I'm having is that the sites I've been to require a zip, or city, or only list 'featured dealers' etc... and others just list links to the individual dealer's web site. I only need name, address and phone number in case of emergency, which seems like such a simple thing... Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Guys, For job reasons I'll spent 4 days on CA, on the El Segundo Area (Close to LA). I 'm trying to check how much could be to rent a bike for two days and were to do it. I found only two HD dealers that do that but only up to HD prices.... There are any other choices? THanks,

Been poking around the local m/c on-line classifieds. What's with these people (both private and dealers) that they think they can gouge buyers just because it's "that time of year". I seen an ad somewhere for an '06 Cherry RSV and the guy was asking $14,500 for it ..... yeah, there's a sukker born every minute but none so bad as to fall for that price... geeeesh .... and these dealers...errrr, I mean STEALERS around here .... man!!! '03 Wing, no ABS, no farkles, 80,000 km .... $14,500 .... they're nutz! (rant off)

Sometimes I wonder if sellers on Fleabay play with a full deck!!! Some of the first class CRAP that dealers try to pawn off just amazes me! Also, some dealers want to become millionaires overnight when they have a decent item but want waaaaaay too much for their merchandise! The frightening part is there are people out there WILLING to pay for both kinds of stuff!! Not saying that there are still deals out there, I still find a few, but it seems like things are getting out of hand! I can remember times when you would click on the ebay link and find 400 items if you were lucky, but now there are a minimum of over 10000!! What's up with that?!!?

Found this in a dealers newsletter I received this morning. I'm sure these recalls may have been mentioned before but want to put it out there as a reminder. http://www.psnnewsletter.com/images/clients/570/Safty%20Notice%20Word%20D_575.jpg

This should be must reading for all of us. This act may be addressed primarily for automobiles, but is surely an issue concerning anyone who has had their wallet emptied by a dealer. MC dealers are made from the same cloth as car dealers. As a matter of fact more and more are being run by high end auto dealerships, Harley included. Apparently all the MoCo cares about when they sell a franchise is how much money do you have to invest! So check this white paper out and see for yourself. It is a PDF file, so you will need Acrobat or a similar product to read it. http://www.righttorepair.org/downloads/docs/whitepaper_righttorepair.pdf Also this is the website for the organization: http://www.righttorepair.org

The new BMW K1600 GTL looks like my Gen 1 replacement when they start coming on the used market a couple of years from now. (I assume Yamaha will still have done nothing by then). Anyone else started looking at them? At least on paper as there are none at the dealers till spring.

Finally got a chance to pic up our trailer. Its an 02 Aluma MCT. We've been looking to add one and were able to find this one 50 miles from home at 2/3 what the dealers wanted for them. Just need to get a hitch and wire the Venture and were ready to roll. The wife can't wait. Now she can pack the essentials like extra shoe's!

Has anyone bought and installed the J&M audio bluetooth setup? I really would like to check this setup out but its like a unicorn. If it worked well I could maybe talk the boss into it. But at a cost of 600.00 or so with both parts there is huge jumping the shark potential! No dealers here in Nebraska and hell if I can find anyone online who even mentions it and how it works. Thanks in advance Frank

I was calling around to various dealers to see if there were any late season deals to be had. One of which was a local HD dealer. He said he would do some checking around because they have independent dealers come in and buy the traded metric bikes. Miy tour deluxe is an 08 blue/black with 9700 miles on it right now. I told him aftermarket pipes, radio, driving lights, and Bakup seat rest all go along with stock pipes. He said hed make some calls. Boy he must have speed dial, cause it was 5 minutes and he called back. after checking around (im guessing maybe one dealer, or maybe just picking a number out of the air) he said the Yamaha dealer would give him 4 grand, but hed throw in an xtra grand. I kept my temper and was civil. I told him he was way off and that it wasnt even close to book value. He told me the dealer told him that it was a dead horse. I told him that the dead horse was gonna sit in the garage and rot before id do business with him.....but i was polite.

I have a '07 RSV with approximately 35,000 miles. The check engine light comes on intermittently. It might be on 30-35 miles and then go out. I've taken it to two dealers and neither have any ideas- the light was not on by the time I arrived at the dealers and they both said that they can't diagnose without the light being on at the time. Has anyone had similar problem? Fixes?

Well last friday I hauled my friends road king over to an independant dealer for him to trade his bike in on a springer. He had some shoulder problems and the king was to heavy of a bike so he traded. While he was doing the deal I looked over the used inventory and I hate to admit it but harley does make a nice bike. Just looked at the paint, chrome, and the bikes overall, and I must say alot better quality vs. the metric bikes. This morning I was cleaning up the venture for a possible ride today once the temps. got a little warmer and I was somewhat disappointed at the venture. Don't get me wrong, I like the venture, for power, reliabilty, and looks, still don't like the top heavy feeling when turning when riding two up. I can tell you if the economy was better and I had the coins, I would consider moving the venture, but I'm afraid my wife would have some issues with that to say the least, as she claims that's her bike. When we got home and unloaded the his bike I was offered a ride on the Harley, and I did like the sound and it handled nice and was manageable. Granted it was a springer, but I have ridden and ultra about two years ago and got the same positive experience, but with the price difference between the venture and a Harley that was the deciding factor. I can see why harley has a cult like following where as the metric rider's don't seem to have this. I mean on Sunday's around here the HD's dealers are open and appear to do a fair amount of buisiness, where as the metric dealer's are closed, so this metric guy ends up riding with the harley guys and eventualy end up at the HD dealers looking at all that eye candy, works on me at times. Sometimes I feel like Rodney Dangerfield, I get no respect! because I don't ride a HD, anyone else get the sme feeling at times?

I've got about 2000 mile on the bike now and went from 42 mpg to about 37 mpg. It will also stall at a red light after about a minute of sitting idle. It does this not as I'm slipping the clutch to pull out, but as I twist on the throttle to rev it up before pulling out. Will try some Seafoam as soon as I get back from dealers, but I really don't want them messing with my carbs... Remember reading somewere about syncing carbs and needing a tool? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Howdy to all and thanks in advance for your help. I have a 90 vr with 13k on it that pulls the front wheel off the ground on a smooth shift into 2nd gear. That isn't normal is it? When you look at the weight to HP ratio and then factor my big ass on it, this doesn't seem likely to me. All my other bikes have been lighter with shorter gears & about the same HP and this one is definitely quicker. I've talked to people at 2 local Yamaha dealers and they seem at least as puzzled as I am. I need to get the valves etc. done in a couple thousand miles and wondering if there's anything they need to know about and how I can find out more about it. Can anyone recommend a shop anywhere in my area? I live near Duluth MN. The guy I bought it from had it about 5 years and put 3k on it, bought it in Colorado & says he doesn't know anything about the history. Thanks again.

Starter rebuild kits
Snaggletooth posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A few weeks ago there was a thread running about brushes for the starters. I saw today there were a couple of listings for starter rebuild kits. This is a pretty good price for the kit seeing as how the brushes are a bit out of line from the dealers. Everything your need for a full rebuild. Just fyi. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Starter-KIT-Yamaha-M-C-XV12T-XVZ12T-Venture-XV12-XVZ12_W0QQitemZ290400764713QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439d3c0329 Item # 290400764713 -
HI THERE I was wondering if anybody could help me locate the black rubber moulds that go on the top and bottom of the chrome strip at the base of the windscreen on an 86 venture. I have tried all the local dealers here in Adelaide and am told they are no longer available. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. :fiddle: KEEP THE BLACK BITS DOWN

In the last month I have been to four motorcycle dealers in Minnesota. Harley Honda Kawasaki Yamaha. Harley was the only dealer to any touring bikes on hand. The Yamaha dealer had new 07's setting there.

I made a post in the 2nd generation area that got me to thinking...... I have a list of dealer related nightmares when I have had to have them do repairs to my bikes over the years. Last April a group of us were heading out for a ride. Sure enough the night before I find a nail in a relatively new Avon and the wife catches wind about the dangers of patching. Sure enough, on the way out we hit a dealer and have a new tire put on. 100 miles later we pull over to eat lunch and my buddy ask when the saddle bag cracked...What? Sure enough I have a big crack down the back. S.O,.a B. I call them and they say to bring it by after the trip. I showed up with 4 other bikes that were on the trip and they discover the metal spacers were not installed at the bottom of the bag. They must not have been there (according to them) but they should have pointed it out so they will replace the $1500 dollar bag. This was April and I have watched them order the wrong color twice, The upper bag once and the wrong side twice. They were apologetic and as nice as pie but totally incompetent. Well, two days ago they get the bag in and forgot to order the spacers.....I was able to cut some tubing to do the job but was amazed at the total lack of professionalism. Now I can tell you similar stories with 4-5 other dealers but it's someone elses turn at this point:witch_brew: I stay busy but am doing more and more of my own repairs due to their incompetence. Just wish I could see better. I imagine there are tons of scary stories about dealers....along with some good ones.
