  2. My ball milled twinkies came in the mail today. Genyouwhine Yammy part. Last set the dealer had! They look sweet. Those will be on this weekend. My new 11" dark smoke windshield should be here by mid next week. Looking for a set of windshield ags.I just want to get a few more things and I will be set.
  3. I installed an HID kit sometime back. Say 6 months or so. It has been fine. Tonight the wife and I came home from my sisters place in the dark. It didnt seem to shine where it should, even with high beam. I know some is due to being 2 up but it didnt seem to be this bad last time we came home in the dark. Then it dawned on me I changed tires. I mounted up a Michelin Commander II on the front and it is the taller I think what are they 130/90 instead of the the OEM 150/80. Do you all think maybe this could be it?
  4. I was riding my bike today and almost went down. I was going down the county highway which is in bad need of repairs. Lots of potholes that have been patched with hot mix. The road is rough etc, and the hotmix is a dark black compared to a light gray from the rest of the highway. I was going along driving through the rough patches, when I came over a hill down through a river bottom with water on both sides. For some reason I decided to dodge around one of the dark patches at about 70 mph. I happened to look down beside my floor board as I went around it and I noticed that it moved. It wasnt a black pothole, it was a snapping turtle! The movement was the turtle jerking his head back into his shell. He was about 18 inches in diameter, and I think if I wouldve hit him I wouldve went for a nasty ride, most probobly not on the bike. The top of his shell wouldve been at least a foot tall. I've dodged a lot of things riding, but never a snapping turtle.
  5. As a member of the new Dark Side VR Group I would like to see a Forum or Topic that we could exchange ideas and experiences. I think it should be open to all who are interested as some VRs go forward with their Mods. I think it should go in the Tech Talk Category.. I think the sharing of experiences will make this a safer proposition for all that are willing to try this Mod. Thanks,
  6. The seat covering on my 1st gen MK-II (unlike myself) has succumb to old age and is falling apart. So if anyone has or knows of a good condition dark brown seat or seat cover sitting around looking for a good home please let me know.
  7. Are the rest of you as sick and tired of all these phone calls from one obscure organization or another trying to raise money some political or social cause. It seems like all they do is think up some 'cause' and start calling. What a rip. I tell them all to put their head in a very dark place.....
  8. well, between work and lack of available cash, I didn't get too much done on the 83 over the last couple of months. I DID, however, get all the parts, finally, that I need to fix the rear brakes, so that will be getting done as soon as I get home from the 2 stroke meet this coming week at Deals Gap. Anyway, my job as a cable guy has me running all over the county, so I see quite a few bikes and cars for sale. I was offered a 1985 Venture Royale for a very small sum. The bike has had part of the plastics removed for some electrical work. The plastics are in fantastic original condition, completely unlike mine. My question is, will all of the 85 venture Royale plastics fit on my 83 standard Venture? If so, the plastics are worth the asking price as it less than the cost just for the paint and bodywork on my 83. I'm not concened about the 83 not being the original color. The 85 is either a dark burgundy or dark brown...light wasn't great when I saw it. Thanks in advance, Jeff
  9. Just got in from a LONG week in Taylor, TX, near Austin. Wish there had been time to visit some of our Texas members while there but this was a semi annual sales meeting and they have us busy from daylight until well after dark. I have tried to keep up with any requests here but if I have missed something, please let me know.
  10. I got off work Thursday night (12/29) and agreed to meet my wife and her parents at the SeaIsland Shrimp House in Live Oak. As I pulled up there was another bike in the parking lot with the blue engine glow lights on. As I got closer to it I realized it was an RSV. I was going to put one of my Venturerider cards on it, but it had a proximity alarm that chirped the closer you got to it. Pretty bike although I couldn't tell the color in the dark due to the blue LEDs on the engine and lowers. Gave me another idea for some more "Safety Accessories" though. Anyone here. I know It wasn't Buddyrich or JB, I have seen their bikes.
  11. today went to work no problems. comeing home after about 7 miles of easy riding started to feel clutch was going away, had to pull it all the way to grip hard and had to stomp at shifter to change gears. it would take bike out of gear ok at stops but had hard time getting it into 1'st. then almost home had to keep it in third.( i didnt want to brake shifter stomping it )got home and couldnt get it in neutal till i just put stand down then could move shifter like normal. its too dark to see now but there is no leaks, master is a hair over half in site glass, the fluid should be changed as it looks on the brown side. but i dont know if thats the problem. what do you think? it is 83 venture xvz12tk thanks:confused24:
  12. After flushing out my clutch oil today because it was 'dark' in the sight glass, I notice it's still 'dark' in the sight glass after all fresh new DOT 4 went into the system.. The brake reservoir sight glass shows bright oil but the clutch is still showing dark oil.. Is this due to a dirty sight glass and can it be cleaned? Cheers
  13. Hi, in a few of the Threads ive wrote a few members asked to see the Ride . It was a bit dark before i got the camara out but it looked kinda cool?
  14. Just got back from a 4 day ride in the U.P. saw 4 different 2nd Gen's while there. Could it have been anyone from VRO ? A dark Grey RSV, a Black and 2 others, one was pulling a trailer. Would have been on Sat. , Sun & today.
  15. I have a used (10k miles) Kumho tire that was on my used 2009 Venture when I bought it in September 2010. I replaced it with a MC tire. Tire is in fine shape and has been sitting in my carport since then. If you are in my area (mid-SC) and would use the tire for yourself, come get it. I figure a fair barter would be a 12 pack of cold bottled Bud. Tire should be good to let you know if you want to go dark side with little investment. Or good if you want to get the remaining 20k miles or so. Look on the classifieds under 2nd generation parts for my post. Mike G in SC mikeginsc@bellsouth.net Lugoff, SC, off I-20, exit 92
  16. I am using Google Chrome and i cannot change the fonts or color when i post at VR.O this is typed in dark red and arial black , anybody smarter than me know what i am doing wrong ?
  17. fluid in my clutch is dark. DO I need to change it?
  18. Well boys, I had a short run on the dark side...about 2500 miles total. I had the Kuhmo on the rear and enjoyed 95% of the experience. The traction was superb, the rear wheel braking was awesome, i didnt notice any difference in the twisties...BUT, where i had the bad experiences were on freeways. Out here in Cali, we have some pretty deep "rain grooves" that at higher speeds could cause a bit of an unpredictable experience. There were somedays i could be travelling at 80 to 85 with no issues then others I would go into a wobble. I checked and maintained the tire pressure often as well as the air pressure of the rear shock so i am certain there were no "outside" influences on my experience. Bottom line is, It just isnt stable enough for my personal riding style. With that said...I have a Kuhmo 165/80/15 with abt 2500 miles on it that is up for grabs...just pay shipping and its yours!
  19. Cruzin down a dark country road and I hit the high beam and the headlight simply goes off. Dang it gets real dark and scary at 60 MPH and no lights with road construction all around. The first thought that entered my mind was all of the discussions about HID failures. My first reflex action is that if I just did something and did not like the result, first thing is to undo it. So I switched back to low beam the light flickered a couple of times but did not come back on. By now I am down to about 30 MPH and still hard on the brakes. While still breaking I wiggled the hi/lo switch and the headlight came back to life just as I was coming to a stop. So as long as I was stopped any how I did some quickie diagnostics, switching to hi would still cause the light to turn off, jiggling the switch I could get it to come on in hi, switching to lo would make the light go out, jiggling the switch I could get it to go back on. So I got it on in lo and hotfooted it back home, praying that a bump in the road would not make it go out again. So I guess that this weekend I get to tear the switch apart and hope that it is just a mater of cleaning and lubing the contacts. It was NOT the HIDs fault it was the bike that told it to turn off. I guess that I will be adding some driving lights so that if the big light ever goes out again, I will not be left in the dark, It could have been real bad had this happened on a curve instead of a straight.
  20. For years it was believed that electric bulbs emitted light. However, recent information has proven otherwise. Electric bulbs do not emit light, they suck dark. Thus we will now call these bulbs dark suckers. The dark sucker theory, according to a spokesperson, proves the existence of dark, that dark has a mass heavier than light, and that dark is faster than light. The basis of the dark sucker theory is that electric bulbs suck dark. Take for example the dark suckers in the room where you are. There is less dark right next to them than it is elsewhere. The larger the dark sucker, the greater its capacity to suck dark. Dark suckers in a parking lot have a much greater capacity than the ones in this room. As with all things dark suckers don't last forever. Once they are full of dark they can no longer suck. This is proven by the black spot on a full dark sucker. A candle is a primitive dark sucker. A new candle has a white wick. You will notice that after the first use, the wick turns black, representing all the dark which has been sucked into it. If you hold a pencil next to the wick of an operating candle, the tip will turn black because it got in the way of the dark flowing into the candle. Unfortunately, today's primitive dark suckers have a very limited range. There are also portable dark suckers. These bulbs can't handle all of the dark themselves, and must be aided by a dark storage unit. When the dark storage unit is full, it must be either emptied or replaced before the portable dark sucker can operate again. Dark has mass. When dark goes into a dark sucker, friction from this mass generates heat. Thus it is not wise to touch an operating dark sucker. Candles present a special problem, as the dark must travel in the solid wick instead of through glass. This generates a great amount of heat. Thus it can be very dangerous to touch an operating candle. Dark is also heavier than light. If you swim deeper and deeper, you notice it gets slowly darker and darker. When you reach approximately fifty feet, you are in total darkness. This is because the heavier dark sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lighter light floats to the top. The immense power of the dark can be utilized to man's advantage. We can collect the dark that has settled to the bottom of lakes and push it through turbines which generates electricity and helps push dark to the ocean, where it may be safely stored. Prior to turbines, it was much more difficult to get dark from rivers and lakes to the ocean. The Indians recognized this problem and tried to solve it. When on a river in a canoe traveling in the same direction as the flow of dark, they paddled slowly, so as not to stop the flow of dark, but when they traveled against the flow of dark, they paddled quickly so as to help the dark along its way. Finally we must prove that dark is faster than light. If you were to stand in an illuminated room in front of a closed, dark closet, then slowly open the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet, but since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet. In conclusion, it has been stated that dark suckers make our lives much easier, so the next time you look at an electric bulb, remember that it is indeed a dark sucker.
  21. stereo speakers even when the sound system is off. I know this can't be good, the plug wires have the plastic sheathing on them and I don't see any spark jumping in the dark, but where else could it be coming from?
  22. Ok I ordered a complete set of speedbleeders for my bike, the first project is bleed all the fluid from my clutch and replace with new.Someone that has done this please send a basic "how to do this" from beginning to end with speedbleeders. While I was in Colorado it seemed as if overnight the fluid got very dark colored and I lost alot of my feel in my clutch pull. The clutch was still very strong but after I got back down to camp I had my original feel on the clutch lever but fluid very dark. Last year Condor told me how to reverse bleed but I do not have the tools or know how to do that so my next best hope is I bought the speedbleeders. Thanks,Tom.
  23. I am concidering buying a Kumho, The darkside is very appealing, traction, cost, and tire life, but, a good friend asked me: If you had an accident with a car tire on your bike, would your insurance cover you? Anyone know? Mark FYI For canadian riders. I made a call to Primmum insurance. Asking about using car tires on a motorcycle. He laughed, "the dark side". He seemed to know all about it! Then said, "this is an unacceptable modification and if you don’t disclose this modification to the insurance company and are involved in an accident your insurance will be void, under material misrepresentation. You will also be tagged and not be able to get insurance for three years". He said most insurance companys will be the same. Please check for yourself.
  24. Got my new Rider magazine the other day and in the product spotlight section, Slipstreamer now has 5 windscreens for the RSV. 3 are shorties in dark smoke 6, 8, and 10 inch. They have 2 clear in 13 and 17 inch heights. It says the prices range from $93 to $113. Went to their web site but they are not on the list yet. I know a bunch of people like the shorties and the dark smoke looks cool.
  25. I just came across, a great find. an old light bar set of an old Harley Davidson Police motorcycle. with the Big dark Red Round light.and I want to get them re-chromed. anyone know of a good chromer?
