I/m getting ready to start putting my '91 VR back together (doing forks, brakes, tires, yadda, yadda) and one thing on the list is replacing the wind shield. I found a Slip Streamer on evil bay, and couldn't resit the price. Its a nice looking piece of Lexan, but it doesn't quite fit. I can get the front bolts in, but not the ones at the back corners. The holes in the new shield don't quite match up, and I'm wondering if there are some parts (rubber dampers, bushings, or what ever) missing. I wouldn't be at all surprised 'Cause while I was doing the tear down I found several items that were "shade treen engineered. (God how I hate some "mechaincs"....) What would really help is if someone has some pictures of how the fasteners should look with the shield installed. Thanks in advance....

While doing another repair- I discovered that the electric dampers on the front forks were disconnected. Any opinions on why someone would disconnect them would be helpfull. I reconnected them, but have yet to ride it.

I installed my risers today...pretty nice so far, although I am unable to go out for a spin (due to weather - ice storm). Anyway...regarding the rubber dampers. I got them out...they had them glued (double sided tape) to triple tree and butted up against the fairing...just like everyone said. Once I installed the risers and reinserted the dampers they are no longer touching the triple tree platform...about an inch off of the triple tree. So I was gonna build that section, but to me it looks like the actual pressure point of the dampers is between the handle bars and the fairing itself...the bottom of the damper not contacting the triple tree doesn't matter or am I missing something. Right now the damper is being held VERY FIRMLY between the handlebars and the fairing...isn't that what it is supposed to do? Wally

Mods, if this in the wrong place forgive my newbie self and feel free to relocate! I am awaiting a call from my credit union to come pick up a check so I can get my 09 RSV!!!!! I believe I am going to need risers on the handlebars, I'm 6'5". Any other tall RSV riders out there that have used risers? It seems there are two vibration dampers between the fairing and bars that may prevent risers from being used as well not alot of slack on the throttle cables, etc. Any advice of help would be much appreciated!

I've got an 83 royal that has the hydraulic dampers removed for better front brakes. I just acquired a 87 complete fork assembly. This is the triple trees down including wheel, calipers, rotors and the front master cylinder. Mechanically I'm sure I won't have much trouble changing one set for the other but my question is: How do I hook up the new electric dampers? I've read some back posts but they are not very clear on what needs to be done. Any one changed theirs over and has some tips? I would appreciate it. Also, will the new Progressive springs I just put into my original forks work in the new ones? Dick

I picked up a rear rim to have cleaned and powdercoated. As I examine the hub area I see the dampers where the lugs fasten. As the powdercoat process heats up to 400 deg. F. I need to remove the dampers. Any tricks to this or is it a simple press out procedure. Also, is there a reinstall procedure or measurement? I would guess uneven installation would cause runout and wobbles. Also thinking that deteriorated rubber would cause the same problems. Just a thought on the decelleration wobble idea. JB
