Does anyone know of a larger front crash bar for the 1st Gen? Something that provides better protection and still looks decent. I accidently dropped the VR in the garage and the thing laid absolutely flat. Nothing damaged. Something that would at least allow the VR to lay at an angle and protect the fairing and acessories.

OK guys, I have a small leak that has developed around where the drive shaft mates with the transmission. Since I recently installed this engine, it has crossed my mind that I damaged a seal. Can anyone offer me any ideas here?

Hit a hawk going about 75 mph in 30 degree weather. Saw it coming across the meeting and it seemed like it dive bombed me. Haven't hit but 1 bird in 1million miles of car driving, but take out a bird in less than 20,000. Heard that happens with bikes for some reason. Question- My lower fairing is trashed. The other side got dinged. The one that just got trashed was replaced after being damaged. It seems that these things may get damaged quite east. Any suggestions on protecting these lower fairings? They are quite expensive to replace.

Ok.....I still have one thing that irks me about the looks of my bike. The tops of the dash panels where they mount to the stays. Both of mine are damaged at that spot only. Otherwise they are in fine shape but the right side has both holes broken through and pieces missing. The left side only has one damaged. Since I got the bike I have used chrome washers with bib washers under them to cover the damaged area but would like to do something to cover the whole top of panel with an angled lip to drop down to cover the area above the speakers. As there is somewhat of a curvature there a simple bend with flat material won't work cleanly. I like to use thin gauge SS sheet of possible to somewhat match the chrome trim pieces on the sides of the fairing. I could live with a painted material if it come to that. Spacers would be attached to the back to fit into the recess in the plastic to avoid bending the trim into the hole. Any suggestion? I know I can't be the only one with this damage. Mike

It sounds worse than it really is... At some point in its long life, my new to me '89 VR had fallen on its right side and damaged the chin fairing. One of the bolt holes on this side has been torn completely away. I'm wondering if someone might have a damaged chin laying around with a good right side? My plan is to graft this side onto mine using some glue I got from the plastic supply place. They say it's supposed to make a molecular bond with ABS plastic. We'll see when I try to repair the cracks... Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

The question I have is about buying parts, the part is shipped and was damaged. Who is responsible for the part to replaced at no cost to me, the shipper or the company I bought the part from? So far every company I have bought parts from have stated if the part is damaged in shipping, they would replace it, but not this particular Yamaha dealer. Was told to go through the shipping firm, otherwise I am out the money I paid for the damaged part.

I’d like to do a headlight mod and wondering if anyone has a headlight assembly they can part with or knows where to get one. It doesn’t matter if the lens is damaged because I’ll be removing it anyway. If so please let me know. Thanx Charlie

Hi again. I am getting rid of the main trunk that was on my '83 venture. We had a bad period, this past winter, and my bike (outside, but tarped) was blown over by the very strong winds. One of the side-trunks was damaged, in the blow over, and its twin was damaged in my efforts to remove it. My bike doesn't look right with just the larger/main trunk behind me, so I am letting it go. I am open to cash offers, or even willing to trade for a fairing windshield that is in better shape than my pitted one. The color of my trunk is pinkish/red - and I can try to post a picture up, if anyone shows interest in it. I live in Amherst, NY, and wouldn't mind traveling a 25-mile radius (before I start painting my bike).

Could somone give me the model or style number of the Flander's replacement handle bars. I believe I want to go back with them when I replace the damaged ones. Also, is it necessary to use longer brake and clutch lines and throttle cables to go with the Flander's bars? Thanks

Tried to hold damper rod while using air ratchet and damaged the head on the socket cap screw that holds the damper rod in place. I put the socket on a hand ratchet and it ramps up out of the head. How to get this off? Any ideas? I'm tempted to clean it off with brake cleaner and epoxy the socket in place.
