This blonde that I work with, came back to work today. She was carrying this big stainless steel Thermos, and wearing a big smile. So, I asked her, "did you get that for Christmas?" "Yes. My daddy bought it for me. Do you know what it is?" She replied. Playing along, I said, "Why don't you tell me about it." She says, "It is called a Thermos. It is a truly amazing device, scientifically speaking!" "Really. What does it do?" I said, figuring this had to be good. "My daddy says it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold" she bragged. "What have you got in it?" I inquired. "Popsicles and coffee" she answered, with her most innocent smile.

After living in the remote wilderness of West Virginia all his life, an old hillbilly decided it was time to visit the big city. In one of the stores he picks up a mirror and looks in it. Not ever having seen one before, he remarked at the image staring back at him, "How about that! Here's a picture of my Daddy." He bought the mirror thinking it was a picture of his Daddy, but on the way home he remembered his wife didn't like his Father, so he hung it in the barn, and every morning before leaving for the fields, he would go there and look at it. His wife began to get suspicious of these many trips to the barn. One day after her husband left, she searched the barn and found the mirror. As she looked into the glass, she fumed: "So that's the ugly thing he's been running around with." SHHHHHH don't anybody say I posted this!!!!!

Daddy, how was I born? A little boy goes to his father and asks 'Daddy, how was I born ?' The father answers, 'Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! YourMom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mailwith your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, andgoogled each other. There your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used afirewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button ,nine months later a littlePop-Upappeared that said: Scroll down...You'll love this ....... http://venturerider.org/forum/image.php?u=1102&dateline=1273642320&type=thumb'You got Male!

I just got a call from Nancy Stills (Meandog's wife), they just found out her Daddy has advanced non cell lung cancer....She asked me to post up a request for prayers for her Daddy, Mama, and her family. I sure hope for their sake all goes well for him. They will be putting in a port for his chemo on Friday, and starting chemo. This family has been through so much already, with Mark. And the prayers from all of us helped them in knowing someone was there for them when they were at their weakest point. Nancy also said she regrets that she will be unable to go to the St. Jude's ride, and hopes we will understand. We for one will be keeping them all in our thoughts and prayers.

This essay was written by my friends 8 year old son. It speaks volumes about the man. -------------------------------------- My Dad is My Hero By Connor Darling My Dad is my Hero because he is battling cancer and is brave and strong. He is very loving. My Daddy is going to Heaven to live with God. I am very sad because I won’t be able to see him for the rest of my life. We used to go fishing but we can’t go fishing now because he is dying. My Daddy taught me many things. He taught me how to get the hook out of the fish’s mouth. He used to call himself “The Manner Police” because he was always teaching me to use good manners. He taught me moves for basketball, soccer and lacrosse and came to all my games. He taught me to be a good sport, even when I lost, and to congratulate the winner. He worked a lot with my classes and the children in my school. My Daddy is patriotic and very proud to be an American. He taught me about our country, and songs about the United States and how to be a good citizen. Dad talked to everyone and taught me to try and brighten other people’s days by making them smile and laugh. He taught me to be gentler with my baby brother. He taught me to be generous, brave, kind and good to all people, and to be a gentleman. When my Mommy told me Daddy was going to Heaven, I said, “Even if a miracle happens?” She said yes. But I’m still praying for a miracle to make Daddy better. Daddy told me his spirit and heart will stay with us forever and he was okay with dying. He said he would be watching me from Heaven every day; he would watch all my games from Heaven, and that I could talk to him anytime I wanted. He said I am the man of our family now and should take care of Mommy. He said he was so proud of me and he loved me. I said Goodbye to my Daddy today, and it made me cry inside. It was the hardest thing I ever did. I know I will see him in Heaven again some day, but I told my Mommy I don’t know how we will live without my Dad. She just hugged me and said “I don’t know either, Connor. We’ll just have to try”.

Hey there ... I received the following from a friend and fellow rider, and thought it was worth sharing. It helps (at least for me) put into perspective what is really important in life ... Daddy's Poem Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go. But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home. Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone. But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today. But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone. And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home. But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all. About a dad she never sees a dad who never calls. There were daddies along the wall in back, for everyone to meet. Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats One by one the teacher called a student from the class. To introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed. At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare. Each of them was searching, a man who wasn't there. 'Where's her daddy at?' She heard a boy call out. 'She probably doesn't have one,' another student dared to shout. And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say, 'Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day.' The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her Mom. And looked back at her teacher, who told her to go on. And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak. And out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique. 'My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day. And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know. All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so. He loved to tell me stories he taught me to ride my bike. He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite. We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone. And though you cannot see him. I'm not standing here alone. 'Cause my daddy's al ways with me, even though we are apart I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart' With that, her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest. Feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress. And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears. Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years. For she stood up for the love of a man not in her life. Doing what was best for her, doing what was right. And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd. She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud. 'I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star. And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far. You see he is a Canadian soldier And died just this past year When a roadside bomb hit his convoy and taught Canadians to fear. But sometimes when I close my eyes, it's like he never went away.' And then she closed her eyes, and saw him there that day. And to her mothers amazement, she witnessed with surprise. A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes. Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside. Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side. 'I know you're with me Daddy,' to the silence she called out. And what happened next made believers, of those once filled with doubt. Not one in that room could explain it, for each of their eyes had been closed. But there on the desk beside her, was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose. And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of her shining star. And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too far. Peace to all, Lou
